Trevor was dumbfounded by the sudden message. Throughout his time in the dungeon, he had gained a lot of exp just like that. He could never predict when he would get exp. Not to mention the AI’s notifications were rare and sudden.
“Seriously, okay that’s the first time your helpful but not helpful enough,” Trevor climbed on to his bed in thought, “And what did you mean by attention of the four pillars. The only person I know whose attention I have is the wizard…… So, could he be one of the pillars the AI mentioned?” The more Trevor thought about it, the more it made sense.
But then, his eyes drifted to another part of the text on the panel; the part that talked about the quest paths. One of them would lead to him losing his tasabar and life force. Making a rough guess, Trevor deduced that the life force that was being mentioned here referred to his life. If the statement was correct, then that meant that he would die hence failing the quest in the end. Thinking about the only pillar he knew as of now, Dira, he couldn’t help but suspect that he was the one that would lead to his doom; but then, he had done nothing malicious to him since his time of encounter. In fact, he had been helping him the entire time. The wizard’s “brother” had also mentioned the fact that he was weak. So did that mean that Trevor needed to get stronger to help them with whatever their goals are. That meant that the wizard needed him to alive so that crossed out his suspicions.
Then who was the “evil pillar”?
“Damn it AI, you could at least tell me which pillar I had to steer away from!” Trevor couldn’t help but curse the AI; “Look how you are making me overthink stuff like a detective.”
He was so caught up in his thoughts that he didn’t notice that the AI panel had stayed out longer than usual. Usually, he it would appear, and voice would read the text in the panel before disappearing after 2 minutes or so. This time however, it had stayed out for more than five minutes.
Suddenly, his finger started heating up past the point where he couldn’t just ignore it. He quickly sat up and looked at his hand. That’s when he noticed a circular purple light beneath the bandage wrapped around his hand. The light seemed to be intensifying by the second, and so did the heat and pain that followed. Quickly, in a bid to save his finger, he unwrapped the bandages.
As soon as the ring was exposed to the air, the light died down at a fast rate and so did the heat.
Trevor sighed in relief after recovering from the sudden event.
“What was that? Has the ring finally awakened?!” Trevor jumped from the excitement and accidentally hit his head on the bed above. “Ouchhhh!” he gritted his teeth and tried not scream and make noise.
As if the ring had heard his question, it lit up lightly and a purple painful spark was sent through his hand and into his body; making him pass out without warning!

Trevor later woke up later that morning, and once again, he was all alone in the room.
“Hell na!” he cursed out loud! In a panic, he quickly wore his boots and ran out of the room. Trying his best to reach the training field faster. Suddenly, an unfamiliar voice resounded within his ears “Synchronization complete,” accompanied with two panel screens in front of him: blocking most of his sight. One was the normal blue panel screen, and the other purple in colour. “What the hell!” he tried to slap them away, but his hand just went through like they weren’t even there in the first place. Nevertheless, Trevor did not stop running.
In the hallways, students constantly laughed at him, but he didn’t give a care in the world.
“External system discovered; would you like to hack it?” the voice said again.
Trevor was in such a panic that he didn’t have the time to reason out what was happening. Subconsciously, he yelled; “Move out of my sight.” Thankfully, the screens, disappeared.
Off in the distance at the training field, everyone looked at suddenly turned when he suddenly yelled. They threw him condescending looks like he was a mad man. That was the scene that greeted Trevor when the panels disappeared. Even Daksh looked at him disappointed, while shaking his head.
Trevor had arrived at the time the students had finished their morning warmups and were now headed for their combat lessons with their respective gladiators. He simply lowered his head, humiliated and walked to Daksh, who was his trainer.
“Here comes the punishment!” he said to himself with gritted teeth.
