Chapter Five Before Charlotte could protest, Collin hefted her up and onto his horse. And then there was no protest in her. Equus was a beautiful stallion. His coat was midnight black, so dense it shined, just like in her favorite storybook, The Black Stallion. Stallions made good race horses because they had a lot of energy. Charlotte could feel the power of the horse beneath her, just waiting for the chance to prove his speed, his prowess, his ability. She felt the exact same. Except they were both standing still. She picked up the reins. It would only take a tug of the strap, a press of her calves, and they'd be off.
