Twisted Loves

Chapter 4

Nikita POV

            I yawned and stretched as I woke up to the rays of sunlight streaming through the windows. I felt refreshed and relaxed.

            Wait.. why? I got rejected. I don't understand.

            Our mate rejected us. He doesn't want us. Sapphire whined in my mind. I felt bad, this was clearly affecting her even more.

            I'm sorry Saph. We will get through this. I heard her whine in response so I rolled over and caught a scent of peanut butter cookies. It’s morning, why would I smell cookies?

             Our mate! Our mate was here! He wants us!

             He rejected us Saph. We have to move on. We've got to let it go. I felt her whine in pain again and I felt unshed tears forming. I blinked my eyes, making them go away.

             Why was Drake here? He rejected me, so why would he be here? And why did his scent change? I had to find him and talk to him later.

             I quickly got up, took a shower to make myself presentable. Mascara and eyeshadow stained cheeks did not look appealing. I made my way out of the bathroom, threw on some capris length leggings and a snug blue tank top, my normal apparel. I then made my way down to the kitchen.

            Ms. Wilson handed me a freshly made bacon egg and cheese croissant sandwich, which I thanked her for. I took it with me out to the back patio. It had since been cleaned from the party last night, and I walked out towards the training grounds to watch from afar. I saw Josh and Jas practicing and training with the other wolves, and was immediately smiling seeing them in their groove.

             I scarfed down the sandwich and sat criss cross in the grass, closing my eyes and just listening to the wind, the pups giggling, and the trainees grunting as they worked. Soon I was pulled from my thoughts as I felt a tug on my tank top. I opened my eyes and was met by Lily, and a group of the other pups she was with.

             I smiled at them and then Lily asked me, "Nikki, can you sing for us, please? It's been so long!" All the other pups joined in with pleas of their own. I just laughed. These pups seemed to love my voice and loved when I'd sing.

            I stood up and nodded my head, which immediately made them all cheer for me. I walked to the shade of a tree and looked out as the fifteen pups all sat in front of me. I cleared my throat and shook my body, shaking off any tension. I then proceeded to sing the first thing that came to my mind. 'Breakaway' by Kelly Clarkson.

            By the end of the song, I realized I had shut my eyes and gotten lost in the song. When I opened them, I realized Jas, Josh, the head trainer Justin, Uncle Jonathon, Aunt Debbie and Ms. Wilson had joined my audience. I immediately blushed as they all clapped and whistled at me. I didn't like attention like this, but it was a little late.

            After hearing a few praises and people exclaiming that they've never heard anything better, everyone made their way back to what they were doing. Jas and Josh stayed back, until it was just us.

             "Nik, I'm so glad to see you! Are you okay? Who's ass do I have to beat?" Jas started rattling off as she threw her arms around me. I just chuckled and hugged her, then pushed her off me.

             I looked at Josh smiling and back at her, before saying, "I'm fine. Everything will be good eventually. I'm not really ready to talk about it or tell who it is yet. That's gonna take some time."

             Josh clearly didn't like this answer, but he just let it go. He hugged me tight, whispered in my ear that he's got me, then let me go. I smiled at him and realized I needed to talk to Drake.

            "Alright, Dad has me and Drake attending a meeting with the other alphas and betas that are here. I'll catch y'all later," Josh says before giving Jas a quick kiss and heading towards the packhouse.

             Jas and I sat and chatted about our random bullshit for about fifteen minutes. I figured if I was gonna talk to Drake, I better go now before the meeting. "Hey, Jas, I gotta go take care of some stuff. I'll catch you later?" I say to her before I stand and head to the packhouse. She nodded and went back to chat with Justin about training techniques.

            I took a deep breath before entering and smelling the peanut butter cookie scent again. I followed the scent all the way to Uncle Jonathan's office, where I noticed the door was still half open. I slowly entered, knowing that the door being open meant that the meeting has not started yet.

            The scent overpowered me and I was in a daze. I saw Drake sitting and took a step into the room in his direction when suddenly I saw someone stand to my right. When I looked, I was mesmerized.

            This man was standing at six-foot-eight, and his aura screamed alpha. His white fit t-shirt hugged his muscles perfectly, and the black jacket he wore open overtop of it just added to his sexiness. His eyes were a crystal blue, lighter than any blue eyes I've seen before, and his jet black wavy locks of hair looked neatly messed. When I locked eyes with him, I was lost in his gaze. Sapphire howled in joy and pranced in my head.

             Mate! Mate mate mate!  She squealed in my mind. I looked at him and subconsciously licked my lips, and he smirked at me as he smelled my arousal. I blushed at him and shyly looked away, only to hear a growl from my left.

             "Nik, what are you doing here?!" Drake growled at me before grabbing on to my arm ready to pull me out of the office.

Xander POV

            I couldn't sleep fully last night. All I thought about was my mate and how much I wished I could've helped her more. I knew I did all that I could do at the time, but it wasn't enough.

            Kade had pestered me to tell him about her, but I just told him what happened. He didn't need to know anything about her until I did. After our meeting with Alpha Jonathon I planned to go find her and introduce myself properly. 

             When Kade and I arrived at the office, we were one of the firsts. Alpha Jonathon, along with his Beta Lucian and his son Drake, it was just us. Slowly more alphas and betas stepped into the office. We were waiting on Joshua to show, as he is the next alpha of Blood Moon.

             I was lost in my thoughts when out of nowhere her scent hit me. Strawberry creme savers. I looked at the door and she had entered, but she wasn't looking at me. She took a step towards the betas son, so I stood to talk to her. When she turned and looked at me, my world stopped. She was stunning. Her blue eyes sparkled like pools of the ocean, deep, dark and royal. I knew then, nothing could take her away from me.

            I noticed her checking my entire body out, and I was doing the same. She was much shorter than me, but I didn't mind. When she licked her lips, I smelled her arousal, and was immediately turned on. When I heard a growl, however, it wasn't from me. I turned to look at the beta’s son glaring at her.

            "Nik what are you doing here?!" He growled at her as he grabbed onto her. That made me snap. I growled and grabbed onto his neck and held him high in the air, not giving him a chance to even think about what he'd done. No one lays a hand on my mate.

            "Mine!" I growled at him as Chase was coming to the surface. He was close to losing consciousness as I felt a tingling sensation on my left hand. I turned and saw my goddess holding my arm with concern, looking between me and Drake. I took a deep breath and dropped him to the floor, barely conscious.

            I quickly hugged her, gently lifting her feet off the ground and burying my face in the crook of her neck, inhaling her scent. I slowly calmed down and Chase purred against her. I set her down and looked into her eyes, "you are mine."

            The door was shut as Joshua entered, looking at the scene in front of him. He immediately saw red and growled out, "well isn't this something."

Nikita POV

           "Mine!" It was clear that this alphas wolf had surfaced, and he wasn't happy with Drake. Next thing I knew he had Drake held in the air by his neck, causing him to almost lose consciousness. I quickly grabbed his arm, hoping he'd stop.

            When he saw me, he immediately softened and dropped Drake to the floor before pulling me up to his chest. I gasped a little in shock at being lifted, but when he buried his face in my neck, I relaxed. He placed me on the ground and looked into my eyes with love and adoration before saying, "you are mine."

           Josh had entered at this point and was not happy. He immediately growled out, "well isn't this something."
