Chapter 1
Bella’s POV
«MOON HOSPITAL, CALIFORNIA USA.»
I stared at the doctor in front of me anticipating the report he'd give to me even though one part of me was feeling happy about it and the other was feeling nervous if it was just my speculation.
“Congratulations Mrs Andre, you are six weeks pregnant.” I couldn’t stop myself from crying, this was what we had been hoping for the two years we'd been married.
Even though we started off as not so much of an in-love couple, we began to navigate our feelings towards each other as time went on.
You guessed right, it was a forced marriage, but we were able to get past the hard phase.
I thanked the doctor before leaving his office while swinging my small purse left and right happily.
I stopped, placing my hand slowly on my tummy, “Mummy is going to give you the best life you’ll ever dream of and guess what, daddy is going to be extremely happy to hear about you.”
I breathed in before stepping out of the hospital door.
My driver parked in front of me and I got into the back seat of the car after smiling at him.
I’m Bella Andre, the first most rated beautiful lady in California. I'm married to Lucian Andre. It's been two years since our marriage, and we’ve both learned to love each other.
Even though we didn’t start on a good level, we hoped for the best time together. My family is just the best.
I’ll say at first it wasn’t easy, but we made it work out, and we are still trying our best to make it work out. I have two younger sisters with one being. You can guess the rest yourself.
The car stopped, pulling over at the mansion as the driver came to open the door for me.
“Thanks.” I thanked him as I got out, walking towards the house.
As I walked in, I noticed the tension in the room but ignored it before walking closer to Lucian who was beside a lady staring at each other.
At first, the lady seemed to be familiar to me, but I couldn’t remember where I had met her, so I brushed it off and rushed to hug him.
“Husband.” I pouted, but he left me standing, the lady stood beside him and I frowned at her seductive attitude.
“Can you at least give him some breathing space?” She scoffed and gave him a document. He looked at me then looked at her before holding it up. I could see the front writing and I knew it was a divorce paper.
“Is it her or me? You have to choose.” She said,
I stared at him in shock, trying to comprehend whatever was happening, but I couldn’t find a suitable word for my shock.
He turned to me. I was happy he chose me. I didn’t want to know who she was, but at least I’m glad he chose me over her.
He stretched out the divorce paper to me, “Sign it.” He breathed out, which left me in shock.
This couldn’t possibly be the guy that has been fully responsible and caring for me for a year. Yes, for the first year, it was hell and I prayed desperately every single day for a divorce, but not anymore.
I thought we were starting to understand each other, “What do you mean, Lucian?” I asked him, not quite believing what he had just said.
“I mean you should sign the divorce papers, I’m divorcing you.” It was like my worst nightmare came true, my dreams came crumbling down as my purse fell from my hand.
“Divorce?” The first thought on my mind. No, not possible.
“Have I done something wrong? Lucian, I know this all must be a joke.” I moved closer to him, desperately ignoring the lady beside him. I clutched his hands with tears trickling down my cheeks.
He snatched his hands from mine, without hesitation, as he repeated those words but now more commanding.
“I don’t want to repeat the words Ella, sign the document, or I won’t be nice.”
“You should stop trying to be so self-righteous now. You promised me a year ago that if the right owner of the position you hold right now comes back, then you'd step down for her. That was why we were able to hold on for so long.”
That was the most shocking thing I've ever heard from him. I know he never really cared about anyone, most especially me when we first got married, but he has never acted so cold to me before.
At least, for the first year that we weren’t communicating, he never acted so cold or ever did anything to make me feel wrong, never.
“What are you talking about ? I’ve never promised you anything like…” He interrupted me from speaking. Gently holding her hands, he was looking at her so affectionately.
“This is Vivian. I’m sure you’ll have found out about her already. She’s carrying my child now. I’m not going to disgrace you, so leave while I’m still nice.” He said and turned back, leaving without looking back at me.
I staggered back in shock. Does he mean he has never felt a bit of love or emotion towards me during the one year we were together? Does he just see me as a stumbling stone to his former relationship?
I never asked for anything more than him loving me back. That was the only thing that I asked for when we decided to let go of the past and move on with our lives. I stood up trying to go after him but was stopped by Vivian. I glared at her with pure hatred.
She was the reason I was in this mess to begin with. She broke up with him because she heard Lucian was already engaged since birth and the marriage was set up by his grandfather so it couldn’t be canceled. He asked him to marry me or no one else, and he believed if I hadn’t appeared, then she wouldn’t have left him.
That was the main reason he didn’t want to see any sight of me during our first one-year marriage, because I reminded him of his tragedy in a relationship.
I stumbled backwards in shock, unable to believe what I had just heard. I could have easily accepted anything else, but he said she’s pregnant with him, she’s carrying his child.
My tears dropped without no control as I cried out in agony. I knew already that I loved him, but I kept it a secret to promote the peace we both had. I just wanted him around.
“Step out of my way.” I said, calmly trying to suppress my emotions. She crossed her hands together and smirked.
“What do you think? He chose me over you finally. It must have been because of the old fool that he reluctantly accepted the marriage offer. Did you ever think if the old man died today, he wouldn’t divorce you.” I sighed out.
Everything she was saying was outside my concern. I just wanted to know if he ever felt anything different about me, if he never for once viewed me differently.
“Everything you are saying is less a bit of my concern, I just want him to say it to me himself, that he never loved me, that’s all.” I said to her and glared before proceeding.
Just as I was about to pass beside her, she fell down, her eyes wobbling with tears threatening to pour out. Now what?
I tried helping her out when Lucian came out, pushing me away from her as he helped her up. Her tears were now pouring out.
“You really wouldn’t stop at anything, huh?” He shouted at me. I could visibly see the irritated expression on his face, he had this angry tone when he spoke out.
“I… what have I done wrong?” I was speechless asking this but at the same time confused. Ella gently placed her head on his chest before speaking up.
“It wasn’t her fault babe, she told me to get out of the way of her, but I didn’t because I was worried she might threaten you, I didn’t expect her to push me down.” She faked out her tears.
“You bitch.” I was furious. I accepted that she had come to snatch my husband, but I didn’t expect her to be so cunning.
“You were clearly the one trying to get me worked up, but I didn’t say anything. You said if it wasn’t because of his father forcing him to accept my marriage, he'd never accept my marriage. You were clearly the one trying to provoke me here, but I never did anything to you.”
”I just wanted to pass by your side when you fell.“ I faced Lucian hoping he'd say something to me.
”Lucian, you know me, I’ll never try to harm her, I don’t have any reason to do that.”
“You do have every reason to harm me, I’m destroying your marriage, and now I’m pregnant with his child. You hate me, I never wanted to make you both divorced, I just wanted to be with King, that was all I asked for.”
His expression, I know it. He didn’t believe me. He chose to believe her over me. He faced sideways before saying.
“Leave.” He dropped the document in front of me and no doubt it'd be a divorce settlement he drafted again.
I had torn off the first one and didn’t expect him to draft another one so quickly, was he really so eager to divorce me?
Slowly taking the document, I read the details and scoffed out in tears. “You think I need your money or anything.” I signed the paper and turned back without looking back.
“I really hope one day when you realize what you’ve done, it won't be too late.”
I touched my stomach in tears, “I’m sorry baby, mummy failed you.”
I didn’t need to tell him about my pregnancy because I didn’t see any reason to, he doesn’t deserve to be the father of my baby.
