Chapter 10

1439 Words
Skye's POV   I know the window was closed when I fell asleep, but the cool breeze that playfully touched my skin was proving me wrong.   As much as I wanted to get up to close the window, I could not. It is strange to be dreaming and thinking of reality and life outside the dream realm at the same time. I might sound as though I am speaking nonsense, but I know I am not. As long as I know that I should be fine.   At least I hope I will be fine.   I am awake, but I am still in deep sleep. My mind and body refuse to obey me.   I hear laughter and see orbs floating around me. It feels as though I am floating around in the galaxy surrounded by all those stars. Instead of stars though, they are orbs with moving pictures in them.   Each orb has a different feeling to it, energy that is projected around each orb and something else that I can feel that was coming out through each orb.   My heart was racing; the place I am in makes no sense to me. I have no anchor to hold me down or raft to pull me to safety. I fear what I see, but at the same time I am captivated by it.   I could feel the power inside me, it calms me.   I focus on the orbs around me and take deep breaths as I try to figure it all out.   I feel as though I am in some sci-fi movie and any minute now a man will step out from behind a camera and shout 'cut'. At least that is what I was hoping for when I still could not figure out what was going on.   The cool breeze that continued to touch my skin reminded me that though where I am feels like it is just a dream it is real.   Nothing made sense to me and I knew I had to do some research and see if I could find out anything.   I touched one of the orbs. There was something that felt familiar and looked familiar in the orb. I recognized it as one of the children in the pack who I saw around but never had the pleasure of meeting or getting to know him.   In the orb he was looking at a light brown wolf and ended up playing with the wolf, the dream then morphed into something dark another wolf stepped into the picture and a fight broke out. The child was crying I could not take it anymore; I wanted to stop the fight and comfort the child. The next thing I knew, that is exactly what happened. I got between the two wolves and stopped the fighting. The other wolf ran away after I commanded it to. I walked over to the child and comforted him. He smiles at me and looks like the happiest child in the world, even though his cheeks are red and his eyes are a little puffy. I hug him and feel myself being pulled away from that orb.   I was back outside the orb and was once again surrounded by all the different orbs. I think they are dreams now. I wanted to return and get out of there. I focused on sleeping and drifting off into the nothingness that is sleep.   My eyes opened and I was back in my bed; all alone.   I stretched in bed and when I looked up; I saw that the window was indeed open and that the sun was shining brightly. By the looks of it, it was already noon.   I tried getting out of bed, but my legs were tangled between the duvet and sheet and I ended up tripping and falling on the floor.   I groaned and pulled down a pillow from the bed onto the floor.   Since I did not really sleep last night, I was pretty much dead tired. And since I tried to get up, but fell down still wrapped and tangled up in the duvet, I took it as a sign to go back to sleep even if it is on the floor.   I heard knocking at the door and mumbled into the pillow before telling the person to come in.   The person who walked in was Elijah's mom. Mary looked shocked when she saw me on the floor, then she just looked amused.   "If you want I could come back later dear. You look as though you haven't slept a wink. Then again, I really can't leave you to sleep now." Mary said and sat down on the bed, careful not to step on me by accident.   "Well I feel as though I have not slept for a month.” I said and pulled myself up onto the bed.   "I would love to leave you here to sleep, but it is late and you need to get up." She said and looked at me with a serious expression on her face. “Elijah is out, he had to attend the Alpha meeting, and he should be back in two days’ time."   I saw red when Mary told me that. Elijah has been doing things that only upset me. He should have told me he would be gone.   I sighed and took hold of my emotions, before I did anything stupid.   "What must I do?" I asked Mary, secretly hoping she would help me get through the day.   She smiled sympathetically at me and took my hand in hers. "Caleb will be taking care of the serious things while Elijah is gone. You just have to go around the pack. Patch up some open wounds. Win the pack members hearts and be a good Luna."   I snorted when she said that. "I am not a good Luna. I am sure they all hate me."   Mary laughed and forced me to face her. "You are not a bad Luna, today is your first day to show them what you are made of and who you are."   I was still thinking of her words as she got up and headed to the door. "Be done in half an hour. I will make you something to eat."   I thanked her and managed to untangle myself from the duvet and go to the shower.   After I showered, brushed my teeth, washed my face, dressed and brushed my hair. I went to the kitchen. Mary had made me two sandwiches and gave me orange juice.   I moaned as I took a bite of the sandwich. It was not only good, but I did not realize how hungry I was before, until that moment.   After I ate I walked out of the pack house wanting to just walk around before I had to socialize with any of the pack members.   I felt arms wrap around my waist and looked down to see a brown haired boy with green eyes looking up at me. He was smiling, but looked as though he was about to cry at the same time.   I got down on my knees so that I was the same height as him. "Hi, what is your name?" I asked him.   "Jeremy, Luna." He said, and his cheeks turned a little red.   I looked at the boy who could not be more than nine years old and realized it was his dream that I had walked into last night.   "That is a strong name." I said and smiled at him.   He grinned and looked back at a group of kids that were gaping at him.   He cupped his hands around his mouth and whispered in my ear. "Thank you Luna for saving my daddy.”   His eyes were filled with tears when he stood back from me and I felt my heart break for this little boy. It took me an hour to find out what happened. Apparently a year ago Jeremy was out with his father and they were attacked by a rogue. The rogue killed Jeremy’s father in front of him before help arrived. Ever since that day, every night Jeremy has been having nightmares and kept on waking up in the middle of the night refusing to go back to sleep.   Last night Jeremy never woke up, instead this morning he seemed to be different.   I realized then that the powers I possess can be a danger and is the reason for why I am being hunted, but then again I did something good last night, my powers or gifts cannot be all bad. They could also be used for good.
