Elijah's POV
I woke up at five in the morning. I really needed to get to the Alpha meeting on time.
As I was driving, I kept thinking about what happened yesterday.
It looked like Skye attacked Ashly, after I made sure Ashly was alright I wanted to check on my mate, but was stopped by Caleb.
He told me she didn't want to see me and was already asleep. I was angry at Caleb for not letting me see my mate, but did not say anything about it.
I was just going to walk away from him when he stopped me and called me an i***t.
Trust me when I say I was angry at myself for thinking that Skye would harm Ashly out of spite. I was even angrier at Ashly for baiting Skye and for trying to harm her.
After I heard the whole story I wanted to see Skye but was too much of a coward to go to her.
I went to my 'dog house' room to pack a bag, shower and sleep. When I woke up it was still early. I wanted to write Skye a note telling her where I was going, but thought she would not even glance at it.
The drive to the meeting point was another hour away. The Alphas from the neighboring packs were getting together to discuss a few things and really just connect and ensure there will be peace amongst the packs.
I turned on the radio to fill the silence in the car, but could not stop myself from thinking about how much of an i***t I have been. Skye is amazing. She is everything a mate should be and so much more, much, much more.
I was certain that Skye would only make me stay in the other room for a week before she would let me back. Now I am certain that I will be there for a couple of months if I'm lucky.
I got to the meeting point and realized I had half an hour till the meeting started. I had not eaten yet and decided to get a snack before the meeting started.
The meeting lasted five hours that is about two hours more than what it usually lasts. It was already three in the morning and the streets were silent.
The issue with the rogues is becoming more of a problem and we needed to figure out how to deal with them before the situation gets out of our hands and the humans find out about us.
Alpha Daniels of the Black Fire pack suggested we meet up for coffee before I left. I agreed to meet him at the diner near the motel I was going to stay in.
At one in the afternoon I entered the diner and saw Alpha Daniels already sitting down at a table flirting with a waitress.
I walked up to him, and sat down opposite him.
"Kent it is good to see you again." He said in a jolly tone.
For a man who has not found his mate yet, he seems to be the happiest man alive.
"Yeah, Ashton, when are you heading back?" I asked, using his first name. I don’t mind when my pack calls me Alpha Kent, but Ashton is my friend and it irks me every time he calls me Kent instead of Elijah.
He grinned and shook his head. "I was actually going to talk to you about that."
I sat back and raised an eyebrow.
Why would he want to talk to me about that?
His features turned serious. "Well look here, after I got word from you asking permission to let your cousin go pack hopping to find his mate I thought I should do the same. I just turned thirty two and am still mate-less." He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. He had a desperate look in his eye.
"Okay, so you are going to leave your pack without an Alpha for a bit so that you can find your mate?" I asked.
"Yes and no." Ashton said, "I am going to take mini breaks to go to different packs at different times. I am not going to take leave. I will spend most of my time at home, but will still go out to search for my mate when things are not so hectic."
I could understand where he is coming from, unlike other packs who chose companies that delve more into manual labor such as farming or construction Ashton runs an advertising company that is doing very well, but he takes on more than he needs to.
"So when do you start?"
"Hopefully you wouldn't mind if I visit you for a little bit. Five days max. I want to leave tomorrow; I have spent two days in this place searching Alpha Rogan’s pack for my mate, but no luck." He said and really looked even more anxious.
I wanted to laugh, but realized I too was getting desperate to find my mate before I met Skye. I never expected that she would find her way to me. "Sure, I am going to leave in an hour and will make sure there is a room prepared for your arrival."
"Thanks, I appreciate it.” After we sat and spoke about our packs and about a few other stuff for an hour, I left and started making my way home, back to my mate.
I have to beg for her forgiveness.
