Hair dyes can help differentiate among quadruplets.
Seeing is believing. Yet here I am, not wanting to believe my eyes or my ears. The strange deep green eyes that seem to cover up half of their faces peer up at me curiously.
"You don't have to kneel." I say, still trying and failing to get my bearings. They all rise at once. Four of them. "I'm not who you think I am." I say hesitantly. I'm really not a deity, or whatever they think I am. I still don't ask them who, what, they are though. I'm afraid I already know.
"Yes you are, lady Skye." I gulp when they say my name. Yes, you guessed right. I didn't introduce myself to them. Or to you, now that I think. But we can do that later.
"You are?" I ask, I shouldn't have.
"We are the Siqi." the one with purple hair says. I tremble. This really can't be happening! Before you ask, I've already slapped myself sore and found that this is not a dream. Why I'm having this reaction? Well if any of you have read the "Grey Knights Chronicles." you'll understand. If you haven't, your bad. The men are to die for! And the women? Bless their great hearts, I've spent the past month fantasising about being one of them.
But I shouldn't be getting ahead of the story at hand. So I'm from Earth. If you know what that is, congratulations. This... is not Earth. It is, but not the one I grew up in. That world didn't have Siqi or any magical creature to be honest. It was dull. Yes I think I've been isekai'd, fun huh? Not!
I woke up with this inherent knowledge that my life as I knew has ended, ahead of that, I cannot divulge any more.
However, if my knowledge serves me right and I am infact in the Grey Knights universe, then the four adorable creatures Infront of me are the Siqi or the Seers. They have knowledge about the future, are older than dirt and immortal.
"The Seers?" I ask, just to be sure.
They nod with a smile. "And you are the only deity to have visited in a millenia." says the one with blood red hair.
"Ah, about that... I really don't know what you are talking about. I'm just... a human." I'm still trying to understand why these accurate equivalent of search engines would mistake me for a deity.
"We know that you don't know. your destiny wasn't in your world, so fates are attempting in putting things in the right direction." This time it's the green one, she's the shortest, despite having identical faces, they differ in height and hair dye. Just like in the book.
Well, no s**t Sherlock. Obviously I didn't have any importance in my world. But I didn't expect them to know that.
"My Destiny? What even is that?" I ask. I can't help the tiny thrill at the idea of no longer being burried in boring assignments and essays, and having a great destiny instead.
"That we cannot tell for sure. But we will assist you in whatever way we can." lie, the first part is a lie. Don't ask me how I know, I've developed some kind of super senses here. I don't even have my glasses. Yet I see very well. A little too well. I scrutinise the ash blonde before me and ignore the lie.
If I have a destiny in this world, it must be to stop the war. Which means I'll have to start with warning the female lead about her friend and lover. But, what if that ship has already sailed? What if she found that out and has teamed up with the male lead? (*sigh* I love him.)
"What time is this?" I ask the Siqi.
They're a little confused about my question, so I evaluate, "Is princess Lucia at ward Macaria?"
"Yes." they reply with a frown. I'm still reeling from the fact that Lucia exists and so does ward Macaria.
"Is she still engaged to majesty Selan?" I ask wondering if the queen broke it off and went with her friend, lover and confidante.
"No" the redhead says, and my heart plummets. "She's wed to his majesty." she adds.
Wed to his majesty... What? This wasn't supposed to happen before the war. it's the end chapter!... What in hell?!
"They've been wed for a while, not long for talk to die out. But long enough for everyone in the lands to find out and celebrate."
I'm still waiting for my speech to catch up with my head. This has never happened before, "The war is over?" I ask. I have no job if the war is over, why am I here? There is no other book continuing the series, it's supposed to end with Lucia and Selan's happily ever after.
"Yes, it has been over for quite a while."
The Siqi look concerned. I sit on the ground trying to get my bearings and failing, again. I hate this. What am I supposed to do now?
"We might show you the path in this matter." says the greenhead and I realised that I spoke the last part out loud.
"What? What is left to do? I don't even know this place or anything about it!" I ramble.
"You do know, not everything but enough. Whatever you don't know, you shall learn."
I let them lead me out of my misery and stand. The weather is hot and humid, I'm wearing sweatpants and a hoodie, which might be the reason for the odd looks I receive, or it might be the Siqi. But it's not like I can care about fashion right now.
The Siqi lead me to a place I want to have nothing to do with. I stumble into the redhead.
"This? This is ward Eracia isn't it?" I scowl at my companions.
"Yes, and this is where you must stay for your destiny to unfold. Remember, no matter who you were, you are a deity now. Your power is greater than all the princes and lords combined." the iron gate opens wide for us to enter, the guards bow to the Siqi and give me a curious glance. I scowl at them for good measure and keep walking.
Soon we're walking on stone pavements, along a wide pathway. Two lakes adorn either side of the pathway and are home to blue Lotuses and graceful swans. Despite the ethereal calmness in the atmosphere, I'm buzzing with nervous energy and overwhelming dread. I'm not fooled by the beauty of the place. I know exactly what this is, and who walks down these pathways.
Soon the door to the patio opens and I see a face I never saw before, but loved and then hated immensely.
"How may I assist you, sisters of the Earth?" says a voice so deep and sinister to match a face, grim and apathetic.
Majesty Ellis Nahato, ex friend, ex lover, ex confidante of princess Lucia, looms before us.
