Chapter 16

835 Words
Melina felt something hard pressing against her back, and Adrian instinctively pushed forward. Fully awake, Melina turned sharply, finding Adrian's strikingly handsome face just inches away. "Ah!" she screamed, waking Adrian completely. Their eyes locked, her expression frantic and embarrassed, his lazy and alluring. "Adrian, you... you... you scoundrel..." she stammered, accusing him. "I'm not interested in being a scoundrel for a flat chest," Adrian replied without a hint of guilt or unease, despite having just enjoyed the feel of her body. He had done something wrong but spoke dishonestly without any remorse. Flat chest? How dare he call her flat-chested? A surge of anger rose within Melina. Although she wasn't flat-chested, she didn't have an impressive bust either. His hand had been on her chest, his body against her hips, taking advantage and then insulting her. Her anger flared, and seeing his indifferent expression only fueled her fury. She grabbed a pillow and started hitting him. "Scoundrel, scoundrel... if I'm flat-chested, why were you touching me..." Adrian couldn't believe she had the nerve to hit him. He grabbed the pillow from her hands, his face cold. "Touching you won't get you pregnant!" "Adrian, I'm going to fight you!" Adrian expected Melina to back down, but she pounced, biting his shoulder. "Ah!" Adrian yelled in pain as she pinned him down on the bed. He didn't hit women, so he let her have her way. Lesson learned: never call a woman flat-chested. Inside, the fight was heated, but outside, the two elderly women whispered by the door. Lauren whispered, "Oh dear, they're fighting." "Since when has Adrian been so lively, so out of control? I'd love to see him lose it, but we can't." Nancy sighed with regret. "Will there be a problem? Should we intervene?" Lauren asked, worried. Nancy, with the wisdom of experience, said, "No, no. When have you seen Adrian tolerate anyone? Fighting shows affection. Let them continue. Let's go eat." "Ah!" Adrian's pained cry came from inside, not clear where Melina had bitten this time. Lauren felt for her son, but Nancy dragged her away, thinking, Adrian is your grandson... For the first time in his life, Adrian felt truly humiliated. Melina had left two rows of teeth marks on his neck. Even with a suit and tie, they couldn't be concealed. During breakfast, the family watched him. First, Grandpa glanced at him and resumed eating, then his father, followed by the two elderly women, who giggled. Always composed, Adrian tugged at his collar, trying to hide the marks, but the more he tried, the more curious their looks became. Suddenly, Melina pinched Adrian's chin, surprised as if discovering something new. "Hey, Adrian, are you blushing? You're so cute when you blush." Adrian knocked her hand away, the sound echoing in the morning silence. Melina cried out in pain, "Do you want to cripple me?" Nancy, seeing her granddaughter-in-law hit, was displeased. "Adrian, what's wrong with you? Why so rough?" Adrian frowned at Melina, her eyes red, about to cry. He admitted he hadn't controlled his strength, but she was exaggerating. "I have work. You all continue eating," Adrian said, getting up. Lauren called out, "Adrian, have something before you go. Your stomach isn't good, and you forget to eat when working, and you have to drink at social events..." Before she could finish, the door closed with a bang. Adrian was gone. Lauren sighed, Paul and Grandpa kept eating, and Melina's hand still stung from the slap. She worried if Adrian would really hurt her. After breakfast, Melina went to work, trying to focus, but her mind replayed the intimate scene from the morning. They had woken up holding each other, his hand on her chest. The thought made her blush. She needed to wash her face with cold water. While Melina splashed cold water on her face, Adrian was being teased by Jackson, who eyed the bite marks on Adrian's neck. "Adrian, your little wife seems fierce. You're lucky." Adrian's expression was hard as stone, his dark eyes dangerous. "Do you want a swollen left cheek or right cheek?" Jackson, undeterred, continued to provoke him. "Stop pretending. This isn't your first time. Why act so pure?" Adrian cracked his knuckles, the sound ominous. "Do you want both cheeks swollen?" Jackson backed off, "Alright, I'm leaving. You’re busy. If my face swells, I don’t mind, but many women would be heartbroken. I better protect it." Jackson left, and Adrian's attention returned to his emails, but he couldn't focus. His hand went to the bite mark. The first time he'd been bitten by a woman, the first time he couldn't control one. He couldn't stop thinking about her flustered face this morning and her beautiful chest. His eyes darkened, a smile playing on his lips. Whenever he thought of her, his mood inexplicably improved. Adrian got home late that evening, missing dinner. The living room was empty, actually he enjoyed seeing the family gathered, even if he felt out of place.
