Chapter 35
It was a pleasant dream. All of my friends were there, sitting on picnic benches in the middle of a green field. Guardians hovered near the perimeter keeping watch. Everyone was laughing and having fun, including myself.
A single red balloon floated overhead.
Sophie laughed, and I tore my gaze away from the balloon. She was handing out sack lunches, smiling and talking to the girls. She winked at me. I smiled back. It was a beautiful place, and I breathed in deeply.
“Llona!”
I glanced up into the sky just in time to see the red balloon pop. Blood exploded outward and fell from the sky in great crimson drops all over me. All over my friends.
