Chapter one~ Running
"Now that all your family is dead, you'll finally be mine. once you turn eighteen, I will mark and mate you, and you will bear my pups, whether you like it or not." "I would rather die than be mated to someone as cruel as you. I won't let you do this to me.." "I'll lock you away I the cellers if I have to. don't try me, little girl." I jolt awake looking around me. I'm still in the cave. I'm safe.. he's not here. I won't let him catch me alive if I can help it. I slowly get up, stretching my soar limbs and shaking the dirt from my fur. I woke up just as the sun started setting. perfect timing to start moving. everyone is usually asleep by now, so I run there won't be many wolves tonight. I close my eyes, expanding my senses to see if anyone is near the cave. When I'm sure no one is around, I slip out of the cave and start moving. I can't stay on one spot in for too long, or he'll find me. I start jogging north away from the blue moon pack, putting as much distance between us as I can. maybe one day I can stay somewhere long enough to save money to go over seas. I doubt it, but a girl can only dream. the night is quiet except the occasional hooting of owls and churping of crickets. It's nice out for early may. the stars are pretty, and i hate to leave another beautiful spot, but I just can't risk him finding me. I catch sent of a deer a couple of meters ahead of me. I haven't eaten since yesterday, and if I'm gonna be running through the night, I need to eat. I move to the back of my mind and let my wolf take control. She loves hunting. She loves the thrill of it. she slowly moves forward through the thick vegetation, making sure she makes no noise. She sees a deer through the bushes. it's not a big deer but will be enough until sunrise, and by then, we'll be long gone. she slowly lowers herself down to a crouching position our belly, almost touching the forest floor beneath us. the deer hasn't spotted us yet as it munches away on some grass a few feet ahead of us. as we slowly close in on it, it suddenly looks up, looking around as if it knows something isn't quite right. before it gets the chance to run, my wolf jumps out at it, biting down on its lower neck. the deer caught off guard falls to the ground in fright. in it's confusion it starts kicking at us wildly trying to break loose, but my wolf was having none of it. quickly shaking her head, she breaks the deers neck. once the deer went linp and she knew it was dead, she made quick work of eating as much as she could, knowing we needed our strength and stamina for the long night ahead of us. once she was done eating, she buried the rest of the deer, not wanting to give away where we were just in case. we haven't been caught, but there have been a few close calls, and we both don't want to go through any of that tonight. once she knew it was all done, she started running north again, ready to get out of there. As we were running, we noticed the trees getting thicker, there was more moss covering the ground and trees, and the vegetation became thicker and more damp. I've been running for the last seven years and this is the most beautiful forest I've seen. my wolf instantly fell in love with it, and I couldn't blame her it's beautiful. the moon was high I the sky letting us know half the night has passed we only have a few hours left to find shelter and food, maybe water if we're lucky. we decided to run for a bit longer before looking for shelter, but it doesn't hurt to be safe. as we were running, we heard the roar of a river nearby sending relief through us. we haven't had water in a couple of days and are in dire need of it. my wolf quickly changes direction, heading toward the sound of water. it took her a minute to find it, but the water was high and flowing really fast where we were. she decided to follow it. Luckily, it was heading north, so we didn't have to change direction. we eventually followed it to a beautiful waterfall. the only downside was that we had to find a way down there to the much calmer waters for a drink. when we finally made it down to the bottom, we headed straight to the water, lapping at it greedily. not knowing when we'll get water again makes us even more greedy about it. when we were finally done, we sat down at the edge, looking around us. it was beautiful here, all the trees and the thick vegetation it was all lush green. we have forests in the south, but nothing like this. looking back at the moon, we noticed that it was slowly setting. it was time to find a place to rest for the day. my wolf retreated to the back of my mind, letting me take control of her body. she was exhausted, and I couldn't blame her. looking around, I spotted a cave behind the waterfall. not a big one, just enough for my form to fit into and nothing else. it wasn't easy to find either, so that's a plus. I quickly made my way over to it and squeezed into the small opening. there's not much space, but it'll have to do for the day. streaching as much as I could in the cramped space before laying down and letting sleep take over once again. ************* when I woke up the next evening, I could feel something was off. I wasn't sure what yet, but something was very off. my wolf kept pushing for control, wanting to either run away or fight whatever was out there, making us nervous. I let her take control, sliding back to the back of my mind, but ready if she needed me. she slowly stepped out of the cave, making her way around the water fall to see if we could see or hear what was out there. we couldn't see anyone, but we smelled them. and they smelled of blue moon wolves. shit they found us time to high tail out of here. we took off running. following the river in case we needed to jump in to hide our scent. before ewe even got ten yards away, I heard a howl and fast approaching footsteps. they saw us and were now chasing us. I picked up speed, really not wanting to fight right now, but at the same time, I didn't want them to tell 'him' where I was. I started slowing down when we came across a steep hill. we decided to kill them, so we didn't have to worry about Trey finding us. before I knew what was happening, I felt something heavy and hard hit my side, and we toppled over the giant hill. my wolf snapped and snarled, biting into whoever threw us down the hill. our wolves were fighting for dominance, trying to either get the other to back down or kill each other. The funny thing is they can't kill me. Trey wants me alive. our wolves flying over each other as we stumbled and fell down the hill, made it hard to get a good bite on the other. suddenly, we were separated as trees came between us. I rolled the rest of the way down. branches and rocks hitting us on the way. when we finally stopped, I stood up, shaking the dirt and everything else out of my fur, feeling the pain of cuts and brusis forming underneath.
