I jerked myself out of his arms. The smell of another she wolf on him made my nose burn, and my heart hurt. I saw hurt flash across his features before he masked it over with a stoney expression.
he stepped back before he turned and headed toward the living room. I silently followed him, knowing what we were about to talk about.
I looked around when we got out there and was glad to see nobody else was here. thank God I don't think my wolf would have been able to take it if he brought her along with him.
"Please sit. we have a lot to discuss."
I sat down on the armchair across from him, keeping my gaze low. my wolf hated that I was showing signs of submission. we have alpha blood running through us she thinks we shouldn't bow down to anyone.
"I checked the registration for lones and rouges, but I didn't come across your name on either of them care to explain?"
"I ran away from my pack when I was thirteen. I knew the alpha wouldn't let me leave, so I just ran.. he was abusive and wanted to do horrible things. I wanted no part of it, so I left.."
I glanced up and saw the shock on his face. I knew he'd have more questions. some of them I would answer others, probably not out of fear of Trey finding me.
"Thirteen is such a young age to leave your pack. you get your wolf at that age. how did you manage to survive on your own? and why did you leave?"
"I got my wolf at twelve. I was an early bloomer. my mother always told me it was because I was special. I left because he killed my family. i.. I couldn't stay there after that.."
he seemed even more shocked about that. he was quiet for a minute, probably trying to process what I had just said.
"I won't ask about that for now. I'll wait until you're comfortable talking about it. but I want to know why you crossed onto my lands and brutaly murdered two wolves."
I flinched slightly when he asked that question.
"they were members from my old pack.. they've been hunting me since I left. usually, I just run away from them if I catch sent of them before they spot me. but since they saw me, I killed them. I didn't want word to get back to my old pack that I was still alive. I'd rather they thought I was dead.. but I didn't mean to cross the border. The fight started on that steep hill, and we just fell down it into your lands. I'm sorry I trusspased and thank you for not killing me.."
"I didn't kill you because my wolf refused to harm you. we've been waiting for our mate for years, and now you're finally here.."
"You have a chosen mate, and you reak of her. do you really think me and my wolf would gladly accept you?.. we waited for our mate while you already marked and mated another.."
I saw him flinch at the mention of his chosen mate. I knew his wolf was already giving him hell for it, but I couldn't help myself. you're supposed to wait for your mate not to get with another one of your liking..
"I didn't want to take a chosen mate.. the world council forced me to.. they said I needed a luna until I found my mate.. if it helps, we've only mated once. I've refused to touch her after the initial marking and mating ceremony..and we've only been together for about a month and a half.."
"No, that doesn't help.. I mean, I understand, but that doesn't make it hurt any less.."
all though it made me feel better knowing they haven't been together long and he didn't really want her.
"I understand.. but with you here now, after a while, you will be Luna, and she will step down. she knew it was only temporary it was stated in the contract."
"I'm not ready to be luna yet.. there are still things about myself that I need to come to terms with and deal with.. plus, I don't even know anything about you.. and I would need to finish school if I stayed here.. I left when I ran from my pack.."
"That's okay. we can sort all of that out. we can get you set up to do online courses if you would like."
"Thank you, Alpha, that would be nice."
we sat there in silence for a minute, not saying anything. I still refused to look at him. I know now that it wasn't his choice to take a chosen mate, but it still hurts.
there was a sudden knock at the door that made me jump. I haven't been around other people in years it's gonna take some time to get used to.
"I'll get it. go and get you some shoes. I'm gonna show you around the pack. you don't have to move into the pack house you can stay here. I understand it's gonna take time to get used to everything."
I nodded my head and left the room to look for some shoes. I went back to the bedroom and opened the closet, and sure enough, there were shoes. I slipped some socks on before putting my shoes on. when I was done, I headed back to the living room.
upon entering, I noticed another person here. a woman.. the women I smell on my mate..
"Leyla, this is Octavia, the lone that crossed our border this morning. she is going to be living here and hopefully joining the pack."
she smiled at me, but I could tell it was forced. she was jealous and didn't like me already.
"it's nice to meet you, Octavia. Alex here has told me a little bit about you. how are you holding up, hun? I know all this must be difficult for you."
"I'm holding up okay. it'll take some time getting used to being in a pack again, but it'll be nice after being alone for so long, ma'am."
"That's nice to hear. I came by to let you know the pack is about to start lunch. would you like to accompany us there?"
"Yes, that would be nice. I haven't had a proper meal in a long time."
the three of us made our way out of the cabin and toward the pack. I walked slightly behind them. observing how they acted. alpha Alex seemed to be rigged he didn't know what to do at the moment. Luna Leyla seemed to be talking absent mindlessly about different things. mainly about how she wished to have children.
that topic made my wolf stir, but I forced her to the back of my mind. I didn't need to cause any drama on my first day here. Alex, however, looked really uncomfortable.
"Leyla, have you got the reports I told you to fill out done?"
she stopped talking and thought for a moment.
"No, not yet. I planned on doing them this morning, but when I heard someone crossed our border, I was worried about you.ill get them done after lunch."
"As you can see, I'm fine. there weren't any problems. I'd advise you to get them done by today they are supposed to be turned in tomorrow."
"Okay, I will."
it was quiet after that. the rest of the walk was quiet peacefully. I got to observe my surroundings. it was really pretty here. they kept a lot of the trees in the pack it was nice. most packs just tear them down to get them out of the way."
the greenery was so vibrant here that it looks like they haven't gone a day without water.
"Does it rain a lot here?"
Alex turned his head back to me and smiled.
"Yes, it does. It rains just about every day here. and snows just as much in the wintertime. why do you ask?"
"Because everything is so green, it's really pretty here."
"Why, thank you."
the rest of the walk was silent after that.
