chapter 14~ rejecting the chosen mate

octaviea's pov

when I woke up in the morning, I was back in my bed. I looked around the room, confused about how I got there because the last thing I remember was sitting on alexs lap and falling asleep. I almost thought it was a dream, but I caught his scent along with the smell of bacon.

I couldn't help the smile that over took my face or the giddy feeling in my chest, knowing that he's still here.

I quickly got up and headed to the bathroom to freshen up. I brushed my hair and teeth. when I was done, I walked out of the bathroom and went to the closet to find an outfit.

I decided to wear a light flowy dress since we planned on going for a run today. it would be easier to slip out of instead of normal clothes.

when I was done, I made my way out of the room and to the kitchen. I stood in the doorway watching him cook breakfast in nothing but the basketball shorts I gave him last night.

I couldn't lie he was drop-dead handsome. I watched as his back muscles flexed when he pulled away after dropping a peice of bacon in the hot frying pan. grease must have gotten him because he let out a string of soft curses.

"Such vocabulary, Mr. alpha."

I must have spooked him because he spun around with the spatula held out in front of him. the sight of it made me burst into laughter. seeing a strong muscular alpha holding a spatula in front of him as a weapon is hallrious.

when he noticed it was me, he put the spatula down and glared at me. I couldn't help but still laugh at him.

"Don't sneak up on me like that. I could have hurt you.."

I stopped laughing and looked at him. he looked slightly annoyed.

"I didn't mean to scare you. I thought you knew I was here. I mean, this is my cabin, after all."

"it is your cabin, but scaring an alpha isn't funny."

"I'm sorry.."

I looked away from him and made my way to the kitchen table. when I sat down, I looked out of the bay windows watching the rain pour down. it wasn't heavy but was more than a drizzle.

I heard Alex shut the stove off and move things around. I still didn't look at him. I know it was small, but I didn't like being talked down to it made me feel like s**t.

after a few moments, there was a plate sat in front of me, and Alex pulled out the other chair to sit down. I looked down at my plate and saw eggs, bacon, and toast. where did he even get this? I didn't have food in the house since I don't work yet.

as if he could read my thoughts, he answered me.

"I went out and bought some groceries. you don't always have to eat at the pack house your allowed to eat at home."

"Oh, okay.. thank you."

"Don't thank me. your my mate. I'm supposed to take care of you no matter what."

I felt myself blush as my wolf imagined many ways to take him here and now. I forced those thoughts away as we started eating.

"So what are the plans today after we finish the run?"

it took him a minute to answer since his mouth was full of food.

"Well, after the run, we're going to eat at the pack house. after that , we are going to the office to discuss some things with Kyle and Liam. they need to know about you in case anything we're to happen. I trust them to keep you and this pack safe as well. I'm also going to reject Leyla today at some point. oh, also, the lady at the book store called and said she would like to meet with you tomorrow about that job."

well damn he already had the whole day planned for us, and it kinda exited me that I would get to spend the whole day with him. I was nervous about the meeting with Kyle and Liam, but I trusted alexs intentions.

"That sounds nice. ooo, I can't wait to start working there. I'll be able to read all the books I want."

we sat in silence as we finished our breakfast. when we were done, I washed the dished and got us a glass of orange juice. we finished our juice and headed for the front door. before we made it out, there was a loud banging sound coming from it.

"I know you're in there, Alex. I can smell you! you can't deny me and this pup. I'm the Luna for crying out loud!"

I felt Alex tense beside me. my wolf was right there at the front of my mind begging to be let out and put this wench in her place.

Alex put his arm around my shoulders. I felt the mate bond kick in and start claming down. Leyla was still banging on my door, but I wasn't as mad as before. I think Alex did it to calm himself as well. I could feel the tension radiating off of him.

he made his way to the front door while holding my hand. I think he needed this so he wouldn't lose his composer. it made me kinda happy that I could calm him down.

when he pulled open the door, Leyla was standing there, glaring daggers at me. she didn't look good. she looked like she had been crying all night. her hair was a mess, and her face was pale. her makeup was running down her face.

"What do you want, leyla?"

alexs baritone voice was void of any emotion. he didn't want to be around her any more than I did.

"I want you to come back home. we can sort this out together.."

I almost laughed at that if her words didn't hit a certain nerve. I felt alex's hand tighten on mine.

"Leyla, I already told you that we are done. I have a mate now. you need to go before you embarrass yourself even more."

at that, her face twisted into one of anger and pain. serves her right for trying to take something that was never hers.

"embarrassed myself!! you're dumping me for a lone wolf! someone who doesn't live by pack laws, let alone how to run a pack! I bet you she's not even a virgin! I bet -"

before she could get one more word in, I stepped forward and smacked her across the face. there was silence for a moment. she looked at me in shock while holding her cheek with one hand. the silence didn't last long as she gathered herself and moved forward.

"How dare you lay a hand on me, you bimbo. I'll f*****g kill you for laying your filthy hands on me! im pregnant with his pup!"

she went to step forward again but was stopped by Alex. he looked like he was about to snap. that's when I looked around and noticed all the shocked faces of the pack members. they started whispering to themselves after hearing that she was pregnant with his child.

'it's not his' a small voice in the back of my head said. it confused me because it wasn't ashes' voice it was a whole new one.

'What?' But it never answered back.

I was pulled back to reality when Alex spoke loudly and clearly.

"The pup that you are carrying is not mine. the heart beat is too weak to be my pup. I haven't touched you since the day we marked and mated, and you would definitely be showing more signs than you are now... I alpha Alex kindig nearby reject you Leyla Kingsley as my chosen mate."

i watched as Leyla gasped in shock before grabbing her chest in pain. she stood there crying I front of everyone.

"You will still be the luna of this pack until I say so, but we are no longer mates. and you will not step foot around octavia she is my fated mate, and you will not harm her. that is an order."

I felt his alpha arua exclude from his body so strongly that all the pack members bared their necks in submission. everyone but me proving that I am his destined mate.

when Alex pulled his arua back in, Leyla ran away crying. the crowd parted for her but didn't pay any attention to her. instead, they were all staring at me with mixed emotions on their faces. some full of worry and others with happiness. I couldn't blame them for being worried. After all, they didn't know me.

it was quiet for some time before one older lady spoke out.

"congratulations alpha on finding your fated mate."

"Thank you, Connie. you all can give back to what you were doing. we're done here."

and with that, he took my hand and started making his way to the tree line.
