Jennie has no words to explain on how she is feeling, happy, excited or nervous. She didn't know. She, never in her dreams, has expected Matt to ask her out on a date.
When she returned home, she didn't even greet her mother who was sitting in the living room. She ran straight to her bedroom and locked the door inside.
Her heart was beating rapidly, and she didn't know what to do.
She sat on her bed and slowly opened the bag Matt had given her to see what it has in it.
There was not any expensive and fancy dress or jewelry inside the bag. It was only a simple white shirt and a pair of faded blue jeans along with a note.
"Expected any fancy dress or jewelry? Sorry for disappointing you. I just want you to feel comfortable with what you wear. Wear a pair of red stilettoes. It will look super-hot on you. Reserve the best for later. Waiting for you.
Your Matt. <3"
"My Matt??? Hmm… This sounds nice…" Jennie murmured.
She lied down on the bed for a long time before her maid came to call her for the dinner downstairs.
The entire night, Jennie was so excited and nervous thinking about the date. Soon, the sleep engulfed her taking to the dreamland where they were doing so much more than having dinner.
The weekend came sooner than expected. Later in the evening, Jennie started to get ready.
After taking a shower, Jennie was standing in front of the mirror in her closet wearing a white bath robe.
'Oh God! I am looking so…'
God: I know. You are looking happy and your face is so flushed in red in shyness.
'I'm not looking flushed rather I'm looking so beautiful that even the Gods would fall for me!'
God: Such a narcissist!
(God sighs heavily)
She wore the dress Matt gave her. Standing in front of the long mirror, she felt admiring herself.
'Not bad… I'm looking simple but great.' She thought.
She wore a red stilettoes as requested by Matt.
A white shirt, faded blue jeans and red stilettoes… She felt the combination is kind of weird but nice. She wore minimal makeup and got ready.
When she came down to the hall, Mr. and Mrs. Smith were sitting there having a nice cup of tea leisurely.
"Hey mom! Hi dad!" Jennie greeted.
"Out to play?" Mrs. Smith asked.
"Nah! A date." Jennie replied.
"A date?" Mr. Smith exclaimed in shock.
Even though he is the prime minister of the country, first and foremost, he is a father to a daughter. Like other fathers, he too hates the fact that one day, his daughter would hold the hands of a man and leave him. And when he hears his daughter saying that she is going on a date, of course, he would be shocked.
"Yes dad. I have been asked out for a date." Jennie replied calmly.
She can understand the shock that appeared on her father's face. She, who has never gone on a date before, is actually going on a date!
Mr. Smith kept his teacup on the table and asked her, "Who?"
"Matthew Carter."
Silence.
The entire hall was pin drop silent. The shock on the couple's face was apparently evident.
Of course, they knew who Matthew Carter is. The youngest child of the Carter family who rule the entire business world. But how did their daughter know him? Wait, they do study in the same university!
"He asked me out on a date dad." Jennie continued.
"Alright dear. Go ahead. Take care of yourselves. Hmm?" Mr. Smith said after some time.
"Get the chauffer to drop you wherever you want." Mrs. Smith said.
"Okay mom. I'm going on. Bye!" Jennie waved and left.
"Honey, do they have any sort of relationship? I mean…" Mrs. Smith started.
"I can understand what you mean dear. It is merely a date. Let the young ones enjoy their youth." He said calmly.
"But you do know very well that the Carters will get their children married to someone who benefits their business." She said in tension.
"And I don't want our only daughter to be entangled in the mess of relationships like her." She continued.
"I won't let that happen at any cost. Even if it's Matthew Carter who has the least chances for upholding their fort." Mr. Smith said calmly.
"The history won't repeat itself again, not with Jennie though. I won't let her become like Natasha."
Mr. Smith looked towards the door.
'You will end with eternal happiness Jennie. And I will make sure of it. This is a promise of a father to his daughter.'
Mr. Smith promised to himself.
