EVA'S POV

The weekend went out successfully, it's Monday morning already the first working day of the week.

Today will be my first day at work so I woke up early enough to do all the house chores, I wouldn't want to be late on my first day at work and most importantly I need to look extremely good as a working class lady not for men to look at me because I already have a fiance.

I finished preparing and went down to meet my parents for prayer.

It is the duty of parents to pray for the success of their children and family, mine never cease in doing that.

"My darling daughter, you have done well by bringing honour to our home, this your first day at work shall be the beginning of your promotion, I want you to do your work diligently and respect your senior colleague," my dad advices

" And remember you will soon be a wife so forget all those cute dudes in your office and focus on your husband to be," mum added.

My mum was joking when she said that, but in real sense she is right, I shouldn't allow all those boys get into me, but since I have my engagement ring I will be able to scare them away with it.

"Mum, dad, thanks for the prayer and advice and I promise you will always be proud of me.

I need to start going now," I said and walked out.

Is this what people suffer every day?, Imagine the kind of pressure I got today, I miss my taxi so bored a public transport, squeezing myself to be comfortable s**t I need to be more faster next time I don't pray for this pressure again.

Thank God I was two minutes earlier to work so I still have a little time to walk around and inspect my new working place.

The building is a large one and every group of the media have a different department, the press unit, the journal's section, etc.

The news area is well equipped, each room has air conditioner, around the wall is something like foam, that makes the voice of the news casters not to be heard outside, the microphones and many other decorations that made the room awesome.

Meanwhile the other staff arrive one by one with there private car, it was a sight to behold, I salivated and promised myself a car.

We resume work for the day, my office is not too large, it is well equipped for the comfort of the workers, it has three table's one for me and the other two for my colleague which are yet to resume.

There is no work for me now so I took it on myself to rearrange my office and make it look more nice.

"Excuse me ma'am, are you miss Eva?" the office clerk asked me, I wonder when she walked in,I was shocked

"Yes; any problem?" I replied back at her while doing my cleaning

"Mr manage asked for your presence in his office right away," she informed me

"Okay I will be right there, thank you," I replied

She walked out why I clean my hands and peeped on my mirror to make sure I look perfect before going.

I was ushered in on one knock and was offered a sit behind the table after normal pleasantries.

"Miss Eva congratulations on your new job, we are here to give out our best to our country, I will like you to also bring out your best and be warned we don't tolerate any form of indiscipline or fraud here if so then be ready to face the law," mr manager concluded

" Am highly honoured sir, I promise to do my best," I added

" It's alright miss you may now go back to your office the HR will allocate you to your duties later," he said and putting on his eye ready to work

"Thank you sir." I stood up and left living the old man to do his work.

I got to my office and saw two people occupying the empty tables, a male and a female they were damn serious when I walked in so they didn't notice me until I greeted,

"Hi am Eva," I introduced myself without being asked to

"Hi Edna," Edna introduced with a smile

"Fredrick aka FD," Fredrick said jokingly

" You most not add your aka sir," Edna chipped in and we all laugh

" Nice meeting you guys," I said sitting on my table

"Same here Eva, you are the the new employee I guess?" Edna said in a friendly way

"Introduction should be at lunch let's work,"Fredrick chipped in even before I replied Edna.

I pray I cope with my colleagues, they seem nice especially Edna she is friendly but Fredrick I can't tell the type of person he is, maybe rude or workaholic.

Since there is no work for me yet, I continued with what I was doing when mr manager called me in his office.

It's lunch time, I was busy on my table when Edna called and requested we go for lunch.

I still have much work to do am not interested in having lunch at that moment but Edna persuaded me into going with her, meanwhileFredrick has gone out for lunch maybe with a friend.

We choose an empty tables by the end of the cafeteria, we placed our order.

Edna engaged me in a discussion waiting for the attendant to bring the food.

" So can we be friends?" Edna asked, this question is so childish

"Off course we can," I replied her

" You can ask me anything you don't understand in the company or in our department," she offered

"Thanks Edna," I replied

The attendant brought the food we ate in silence and went back to the office Fedrick is already there going through his work, I immediately went back to finish the pending jobs.

Finally it's time to go home, I cleared my table and prepare to go home, Edna offered to give me a lift I accepted, we talked and laugh as we drove home, it was a wonderful time Edna is so funny.

"Thanks for the drive," I greeted as I alert from the car in front of my house

" You are welcome, have a nice evening, see you tomorrow," she replied and drove off while I walked in.

Such a hectic day, I took my shower and eat my dinner, my parents and simblings are already back home so I shared my experience at office with them and retired to bed after visiting my dairy.

EDNA'S POV

I drove straight to my sister's house to pick my eight years old child. Esther is my one and only, my joy giver and the reason why I am still alive.

I was in a serious relationship with my boyfriend, I loved him so much and he do same.

I was the breadwinner and source of income to I and my boyfriend, he has no job so I took it as part of love to cater for his upkeep and needs.

We dated for almost three years and he never proposed, well that is not a big deal because I know money is his problem and very sure he will do that if God bless him with a job from the company he went for interview.

Our country is one of use what you have to get what you don't have.

My boyfriend told me of a particular interview his friend told him about outside our state, I was happy and pray God answers him.

He further told me he met with the General manager and he insisted on collecting five hundred thousand naira to offer him the job, I didn't waste anytime giving him the money because I know if he succeds in taking the job we will lack nothing.

It was time to go for the interview, he packed his logadge and that was the last time I set my eye on him, his phone was not going and there was no trace about him, so I took it that he is dead.

After some months I realized that I was pregnant, my friends advised I abort they baby but no it is a sign of my love for Andrew.

With the help of my sister I was able to go through the pains of pregnancy and finally gave birth to Esther, she was indeed a carbon copy of Andrew.

After some months I traveled outside my state for a contract, I saw the most shocking scene ever in my life, Andrew is with another woman and three children chilling and playing in the beach.

I couldn't hold myself so I went to him and asked him what happened, he told me to my face that I am a fool believing he loved me and giving him money whenever he asked for it.

He used my feelings for him to trap me down. Since then I take men as scum and promised myself I will never marry Esther is enough for me.

"Mum you are late today what happened?" Esther question immediately I walked in

" Nothing sweetie, I just wanted to drop one aunty off her house," I replied hugging her

"Aunty went out to get dinner for the family, her kids are up in their room,"she informed

"Okay let's go then I will call her and tell her I came," I replied and took my gold to the car and drive off.

I fixed a dinner as we got home, I sang lullaby for Esther after the meal and she slept off.

It's only I and my daughter so we lived in a well finished self con, so we sleep together.

RAYMOND'S POV

I got home after a hectic day at work, I have been working out on a particular contract since morning so I didn't talk with my love throughout.

There were some food left in the fridge so I fixed dinner for self, I freshened up after eating, so I decided to call Eva.

"Hey babe, how are you and how was your day at work?" I asked over the phone

"Hi, I was worried your number has not been connecting," she replied in a worried tone

"Yeah I needed a time to work on something's in the office, am sorry," I explained

" It's alright thank God you are fine, I had a very long time in the office I need to rest ," she said admist yarning

"Alright tomorrow then," I said and hanged up

I feel relieved now I can sleep without any disturbance in the whole world.

Tomorrow is another heavy day.
