The Death of The World
They say, when a ice cold breeze like never before filled the air on the gray, and on the cracky, gray, beach, a b****y-like sunrise dripped from the depths of the wounded world... death stole a precious soul, and the fate of the world was laid in the hands of a 13 year old boy. That fateful day, the boy and his father were walking across the cracky beach. Neither of them really talking, just staring inquisitively into the depths of the melting horizon. Suddenly, the old man fell to the ground while a swarm of people gathered.
The old man knew his time was nigh, so he croaked, “After your mom died, I brought you up as a determined soul. You have a strong role to play in this world. So, run to my study after I leave the world. Listen, let not the red b****y drop spread through the calm blue sea, or else, the world will die!”
He got to know through solving a riddle as to what his father had worked for all this time... the project, Sky. Sky was a plan started by a group of scientists who had once been part of another project called the EAT, to oppose EAT itself. It was a well-known project meant to create a sci-fi world (which was once only dreamed of) in just a decade. The council, of course were just doing it to profit. Jak, himself had always been looking forward to EAT becoming reality as a child. Then, Jak realized a flaw in the plan: the construction would create more greenhouse gasses, resulting in mutant humans. Thoughts raced through Jak’s mind, making him dizzy, as he was shoved face to face with reality. Jak realized his father knew the public would be against him, and the brutal council would do anything to stop him. His father was living in hiding, and couldn’t risk letting Jak know until the last moment of his death. So now, at the strike of one, Jak knew his sole goal was to inform the world of the dangers to come. Jak fixed a morning speech with the council. After a seemingly endless night he was on stage in front of many people seated in chairs. He quickly ran his hands through his hair before he began, and heard an unexpected sigh from a girl with yellow hair.
“All , I am coming to you now about a matter of great concern which is the environment!” He awkwardly began.Already, about half the people in the room had lost interest and were busy with their phones.Tired with the formalities , he stated plainly, “The project of EAT should be demolished, as the greenhouse gasses produced would eventually lead to the world’s Thereby, I propose another project, called the Sky which ensures the prosperity of every citizen whether it be the poor, or the rich, or the young, or the old. We are in this together and need to make efforts to save this world.”
Slowly, one person stood up... as to show agreement, then a few seconds later, another. Finally, many people in the audience were standing up. However the council showed the power of money to the people and ordered security to escort Jak out. He then sulked back to his house. When he was walking through a dark alley, he heard shout. Turning back, he saw the yellow haired girl with pigtails sprint towards him.
“Wait!” she cried, “I believe in you and your talks. I want to help! I’m good with convincing others, so I can help get the public’s support for you!”
Jak was shocked to see someone actually listened to him.
He invited her to his home to work on a newsletter together at his home at 109 Baker Street. My name is Meli Clarke, and see ya there!”
Then she skipped off, her brown excited eyes bouncing every which way over the horizon. They then met up in the afternoon at Jak’s house as planned. Immediately, they began to work. Jak typing the information, and Meli adding final touches to make it seem professional. As did before, time passed, flew through the hours, and finally, once again, it was the strike of 1 when they finished.
At one, Meli whined, “Jak, I am tired of staying on one place and not moving. And we are anyways done, so can we go out and ride our bikes?”
She had brought bikes to ride on, but hadn’t gotten the time to use it. Jak was concerned with perfecting the newsletter but Meli was right, they were essentially done. Meli felt happy today. She had convinced Jak to put an invitation at the bottom of the newsletter to come to the front of Jak’s house, where Jak would speak. At first Jak refused, thinking back to his previous failure, but with her positivity , Meli could change his attitude. After biking for a bit they returned to Jak’s home, tired. Before they left, they said their goodbyes, and promised to meet up in the afternoon when Jak would make his speech. Jak slept a restless night and woke up thinking how Meli’s little brown freckles and red cheeks illuminate her whole face. He sighed in remembrance of her and her energetic passion. Then he stood upright, violently shook his head, and took thoughts out of his mind. The world is the first priority he thought, and got out of his bed. Time passed too quickly, and Meli was at his door before he could think. Together they headed out to confront the already dispersing audience.
Taking a big breath, Jak began, “The world is in danger!” a few people were attracted to the crowd of 10, and now there were 15. He repeated in a louder voice, “Our world is in danger! Not because of everyone, but the project of EAT. Yes… there can be more money, and yes... some people could profit, but no one will! Why? Well, because the world would be demolished by the excess of greenhouse gasses produced by this project! There has been a secret project called Sky which was working for the good of all the people in this society and world. My late father was one of the scientists working toward this. He visualized, we could unite as a whole and overturn the corrupt council. That we can eliminate unnecessary producers of greenhouse gasses, and use science for the better good. That we can make pollution free cars, than making ones which fly. That we can save the organisms of our planet by eliminating the waste which is transferred into the seas, or drifts into the air. That we… the people… could save... the world... together! Thank you.”
Jak looked around and saw that a crowd of more than 500 was gathered, extending even till the ends of the allies to hear him. Then, everyone heard a voice in the far back.
“I am part of the Sky and will support you!” shouted the voice of a gray haired man.
“I am another scientist, and will begin immediately!” shouted another man with goggles.
“I am not part of the Sky, but will be now!” yelled a voice amid the others.
Slowly, other people agreed, and now even Jak saw there was no stopping them. He scanned the glorious sight where the yellow sun beat down on the cool pavement, showering the people with a cool breeze that brushed against every face listening, and returned to Jak as a sense of reassurance.
It was a dazzling sight of people in unison, crying, “Mother Earth first!”
They were stomping their foot to the ground and fists pumping into the air, forming a beat of boom, boom, clash, as they stomped twice and shattered the air once by the pumping of their fists. Earth was then born to the heartbeat...boom, boom, clash, of the people in Trensville! Unwillingly, every person returned to his or her home by 10 o'clock, as that was the curfew. But even the smallest of small knew that tomorrow would be a day like none other. The next day, Jak was busy giving orders to adults the age of 90, to children the age of 5. Everybody pitched in and project EAT was demolished. He had finally fulfilled his father’s last wish. The evening following this great feat, Meli caught up to him when he was walking on the brink of the beach, the same place his father had passed away. He smiled sadly at her, and they walked side by side, holding hands. Meli blushed, and knew she had played a major role. Jak stood gazing out toward the red b****y dot, knowing he hadn’t let it penetrate through the calm blue ocean. His father’s last wish was now fulfilled.
