Jake Fletsam was working methodically. His movements were always the same and repeated. First of all he was digging with his mattock for about an hour, then he shovelled all the stones and earth into his wheelbarrow and finally he sheered his full wheelbarrow thirty metres to the pile of earth in order to empty it. This was where his work ended. Jake was getting back to the same ritual. Another worker was in charge of moving the pile of useless stones, pebbles and earth.
