IV. MOORGATE On Friday, 28th February, 1975, at 8.46 in the morning, a Northern Line train, which began its journey at Drayton Park station, arrived at Moorgate. Instead of following the normal procedure of stopping at the station, the train accelerated and crashed with force into the tunnel. Of the six carriages, the first two were literally squashed. The driver of the train together with forty two more passengers were killed while several others were badly injured. Immediately, policemen, firemen and medical units arrived at the scene of the accident. They managed to get the last living person out of the wreck at 10.00 in the morning of the same day and the last dead body, on the 4th of March 1975.
