Chapter Eight - Thanksgiving Day Parade

            Thanksgiving is in a less than 24 hours and each club and/or school teams is making a float for the thanksgiving day parade. Karissa and Ashleigh are working on the cheer float with the rest of the squad Zane is helping as well. Since he is not part of a club or team in school. The girls thought he could use the social interaction. The rest of the squad headed home. Karissa Dean and Ashleigh stayed to get the float closer to being finished. Ashleigh designed the float. The float is done in the school colors white blue and silver with a cheer horn and pom poms on the mouth part of the cheer horn a radio and a cheer bag. All sitting on synthetic grass. Ashleigh is painting a small cheer mural for the float. The football team and the basketball team is already finished theirs Zane a Karissa are painting the sides of the float silver while Ashleigh finishes her mural. A man appears from nowhere and heads straight for Zane and punches him straight in the face. Karissa puts and ice wall up to block the man’s path and uses her twinlepathy to tell Ashleigh because she has earbuds in listening to music.

Twinlepathy

Karissa “Ashleigh come help there is a man trying to hurt Zane”

Ashleigh “what”

Ashleigh pulls her ear buds out and turns around to see Karissa fighting a man and Zane on the ground unconscious. Ashleigh gets up and runs to Karissa throwing fire balls at the man. Nothing is slowing this man down.

Twinlepathy

Ashleigh “golden power?”

Karissa “nothing else is working, let’s do it sis”

Ashleigh and Karissa join hands and their golden energy pulsates off their bodies. The girls hold up their other hands up and blasts the man. With their golden energy the man falls to the ground and disappears. Ashleigh and Karissa run over to Zane to make sure he is okay.

Ashleigh “Zane! Zane wake up”

Zane “Ashleigh?”

Ashleigh “I am here Zane”

Zane “Ashleigh, I love you”

Ashleigh “I love you too”

Ashleigh gives Zane a kiss and hug.

Karissa “I think we should get Zane to the hospital to get checked out”

Zane “no, no hospitals”

Ashleigh “ok my mom used to be a nurse will you let her check you and make sure you are okay?”

Zane “okay”

They went to the twins house

Karissa “mom, can you do a little check up on Ashleigh's boyfriend please?”

Nikki “what happened to him?”

Ashleigh “someone hit him in the face, and he hit his head on the concrete”

Nikki “okay bring him in here”

While Nikki is giving Zane a checkup, she feels an energy coming from him that she has never felt before.

Nikki “Zane you are completely fine maybe a mild concussion. Ashleigh can I speak with you in the living room please”

Ashleigh “ok mom”

Whispering

Nikki “do you feel a strange energy from Zane?”

Ashleigh “yes that is what drew me to him. Why do you ask mom?”

Nikki “I set up protection stones in the living room bring Zane in here so I can make sure he is not evil”

Ashleigh “mom, he isn’t evil”

Nikki “how do you know that?”

Ashleigh “because mom I would know”

Nikki yell’s “Zane can you come into the living room please?”

 Zane “yes Mrs. Whetstone”

Nikki whispers “we will see”

Zane walks towards the living room and stops right at the doorway.

Zane “yes, Mrs. Whetstone what can I do for you”

Nikki “come in here I want to show these pictures of Ashleigh when she was little”

Zane walks into the living room. after about 3 minutes Nikki concluded that Zane was not evil.

Nikki “alright girls I am going to go make dinner”

Ashleigh and Karissa “okay mom”

Zane “well I got to get home I will call you later okay babe”

Ashleigh “okay, do you need a ride?”

Zane “no, I live a few streets over”

Ashleigh ok babe”

Zane “I love you”

Ashleigh “I love you too”

Zane walks out the house. He can feel a burning sensation all over his skin. He runs home to his dad for help.

Zane “dad, help its burning. I think I was cursed by Ashleigh's mother”

Mr. Roberts “no, son you was not cursed you just entered a charm protected room”

Zane “please make it stop”

Mr. Roberts brewed a quick potion for Zane. Once Zane drank it the burning stop instantly.

Zane “dad we are wizards why would a protection spell affect me?”

Mr. Roberts “because you are not only a wizard Zane you mother was half demon and half witch”

Zane “I have demon blood in me?”

Mr. Roberts “yes son you do. I am sorry I never told you before”

Zane “dad could I have died from that room?”

Mr. Roberts “no, if you was a full blood and had full hatred in your heart then yes but since u don’t you had nothing to fear plus I protected you many years ago son.

Zane “so I am 1/3 wizard?”

Mr. Roberts “correct”

Zane “and 1/3 human and 1/3 demon?

Mr. Roberts “yes absolutely”

Zane “how come you never told me”

Mr. Roberts “I didn’t want you to bare the trouble of knowing who your mother really is”

Zane “dad, a man tried to kill me today”

Mr. Roberts “what did the man look like?”

Zane “he wore all black and he had dark eyes and white hair”

Mr. Roberts “did he have an emblem on him that had a scorpion on it?”

Zane “I can’t remember”

Mr. Roberts “can I look son?”

Zane “ok”

Mr. Roberts places his hand on Zane’s head to see the man that attacked him. The man does not have a scorpion emblem. He carries the emblem of another demon clan. The emblem is of a spider. A black widow spider. He was a member of the black widow clan.

Zane “dad, I have a feeling he won’t be the only one coming for me”

Mr. Roberts “you are correct my son”

Zane “why do they want me?”

Mr. Roberts “because they want you to be their lord of the demons”

Zane “no, I won’t become that”

Mr. Roberts “son, if you don’t they will kill you”

Zane “why?”

Mr. Roberts “because you were born with great powers”

Zane “dad remove them, please, I just want to stay here and live out my life with Ashleigh I love her”

Mr. Roberts “son I can only strip you of your wizard half not your demon half”

Zane “dad what do I do?”

Mr. Roberts “tell Ashleigh”

Zane “what? Dad I can’t she will think I am trying to hurt her”

Mr. Roberts “no, she won’t as long as you tell her, and she doesn’t find out on her own”

Zane “alright I will tell her tonight”

Zane goes upstairs into his room and lay’s on his bed debating whether to text or call Ashleigh. He decided to text Ashleigh.

Text message

Zane “hey babe, can you meet me at the pier please?”

Ashleigh “when?”

Zane “now, if you can?”

Ashleigh “alright I will be there in a few minutes”

Zane “great thanks I will see ya soon”

Zane rides his skateboard to the pier. When he arrives, Ashleigh is already there waiting for him.

Zane “hi”

Ashleigh “hello, are you okay? You seemed upset in your text”

Zane “I have to tell you something that my dad just told me”

Ashleigh “okay, what is it?”

Zane “I don’t want you to hate me”

Ashleigh “I won’t hate you”

Zane “okay, my dad told me that I am 1/3 human, 1/3 wizard and, 1/3 demon”

Ashleigh “you’re a demon?”

Zane “yes, according to my father but I don’t want to be I want my demon part removed and my dad can’t do it”

Ashleigh “wait, I am confused your dad isn’t a demon?”

Zane “no, my mother is the demon. My dad is half human and half wizard”

Ashleigh “hold my hand”

Zane “why”

Ashleigh “because I need to take you to see my grandmother”

Zane “why?”

Another demon comes from behind and grabs Zane. Ashleigh starts throwing fire at him and it does nothing. Ashleigh twinlepathied Karissa.

Twinlepathy

Ashleigh “Karissa help at the pier”

Karissa “on my way Karissa smokes to the pier. The twins hold hands and blast the demon with the golden magic. He disappears leaving a scorpion emblem behind. Zane picks up the emblem.

Zane “my dad said this emblem represents the scorpion demon clan which my mother is the leader of”

Karissa “wait what?”

Ashleigh “I will explain later we have to get him to grandma”

Karissa “you know we can’t take him into the library. He has demon blood”

Ashleigh “I know but grandma has to help me. I love him I can’t lose him Karissa you of all people should understand”

Karissa “alright, let’s go”

Zane and Ashleigh held hands with Karissa, and they smoked into the attic.

Ashleigh “grandma, please help”

LuCretia “what’s wrong child? What the hell is that abomination doing here?”

Ashleigh “grandma don’t say that about him I love him can you help him get rid of his demon part please?”

LuCretia “he wants to get rid of it?”

Zane “yes mam, I do”

LuCretia “I can’t feel the demon and human but what is the last part of you?”

Zane “wizard mam”

LuCretia “do you know anything about your ancestors boy?”

Zane “no, mam”

LuCretia “come here”

Zane walks towards LuCretia slowly. LuCretia looks and examines Zane.

LuCretia “I can extract the demon blood from your body, but you will need the blood of your father and I will need Emma”

Karissa “what do you need Emma for?”

LuCretia “Zane needs positive energy to replace the negative energy once I remove it”

Ashleigh “alright I will go get her”

Ashleigh runs to go get Emma.

Ashleigh “Emma, will you come help me help Zane please?”

Emma “what is wrong with Zane?”

Ashleigh “I will explain when we get back to my house”

Emma “okay”

Emma and Ashleigh go back to Ashleigh’s house.

Karissa “I will go get Zane’s father”

Karissa smokes to Zane’s house and knocks on the door.

Mr. Roberts opens the door “hello, can I help you?”

Karissa “no, but you can come with me to help your son”

Mr. Roberts “are you Ashleigh?”

Karissa “no I am her sister Karissa”

Mr. Roberts “okay where is my boy?”

Karissa “take my hand”

Mr. Roberts takes Karissa’s hand and smokes back to the attic.

Mr. Roberts “son, are you okay?”

Zane “yes dad, Ashleigh's grandmother said she can remove the demon side of me, but she needs your blood”

Mr. Roberts “take whatever you need from me to save my son”

LuCretia comes out of the library and says “I will do whatever I can”

When LuCretia looks at Mr. Roberts she recognizes him but says nothing.

LuCretia “alright girls I need space”

LuCretia turns the attic into a soundproof medical room with to medical beds and a blood dialysis machine.

Ashleigh “what’s next?”

LuCretia “now I need Emma to create a ball of positive energy and place it inside of the machine”

Emma “okay, here goes nothing”

Emma creates the ball of positive ball of energy and places it inside the machine.

LuCretia “alright now Zane you and your father lay on the medical tables and I will place you both into a deep sleep”

Zane and his father lay on the tables and LuCretia put them both into a deep sleep. She then places the needles into Zane’s arms and his father’s arms. Next LuCretia casts a spell onto the machine to extra the demonic particles from Zane’s blood and replace it with some of Zane’s fathers blood plus Emma’s positive energy.

LuCretia “glan fuil nan togalaichean demonic aige”

The dialysis machine turns on and starts to filter Zane’s blood.

LuCretia “this will take a while we wait you girl should come with me into the library and get Hope to smoke over”

Ashleigh “Hope can’t smoke yet grandma”

LuCretia “oh I forgot well she should still be here for this lesson Karissa can you go get her please?”

Karissa “okay”

LuCretia “great thank you, Ashleigh and Emma fallow me please”

Karissa went to go get Hope and Emma LuCretia and Ashleigh went into the library. LuCretia hands Emma a book about her powers to read.

LuCretia “Emma first I want you to read that book so you can understand what all your powers have to offer. Ashleigh we are going to practice with your power on creating an ember”

Emma “yes mam”

Ashleigh “ok, I will try”

LuCretia “alright, now most witches with your power use anger and hatred energy to use their power. But, none of them ever could make an ember. Because they could never use their love to empower the magic of fire”

Ashleigh “so I do it with love in my heart”

LuCretia “yes, are you ready?”

Ashleigh “yes mam, let’s do this”

LuCretia “alright now feel the love you have for your family and your sister and friends inside your heart and imagine and ember in the palm of your hand”

Ashleigh starts thinking about how much she loves her parents, her sister, and her friends. She can feel the magic inside her building up.

Ashleigh “I can feel it but it’s not strong enough grandma”

LuCretia “you can do this Ashleigh; I can feel the love you have in your heart. Use all of it”

Ashleigh tries again only this time she thinks of Zane as well. She starts off thinking about her parents and she notices a flicker of light in the palm of her hand. She continued to think of her parents and added her grandma and her sister. The light got brighter. Than Ashleigh included her best friends into her thoughts. The bright light start to form an ember. Finally, she thought of how much she loves Zane and what he means to her. The ember appeared in her hand.

Ashleigh “grandma I did it. I made an ember”

LuCretia “wonderful job Ashleigh. Tremendous work”

Karissa “holy s**t, Ashleigh what is that in your hand?”

Ashleigh “grandma just showed me how to make an ember. Not many witches can make an ember with my power”

Karissa “it’s beautiful”

LuCretia “great work Ashleigh now u go sit with Zane and let me know if anything changes alright”

Ashleigh “yes mam”

LuCretia “alright Hope you go have a seat at the table with Hope there is a book I pulled out for you”

Hope “thank you mam”

LuCretia “you’re welcome Hope. Alright Karissa, it is time for you to master your power of healing waters”

Karissa “healing waters?”

LuCretia “yes, now what you need to do to create healing waters is the same thing Ashleigh had to do. It is created with love in your heart”

Karissa “okay, so I have to feel the love for everyone I love in my heart in order to create the healing waters?”

LuCretia “yes child, you ready to try?”

Karissa “yes mam”

LuCretia “alright go ahead when you are ready”

Karissa holds and empty potion bottle in her hand and thinks of the love she has for everyone closest to her. Her parents her grandma her sister and her friends. Then she thinks about the night she had with Luke. The love she feels for him runs deep within her veins. Then Karissa focuses on the bottle as if all the love she feels was inside the bottle. The bottle began to glow. A gust of wind blew through and the bottle had glowing healing waters.

LuCretia “marvelous Karissa. Oh, I am so proud of you honey”

Karissa “thank you grandma, what can the healing waters heal?”

LuCretia “everything and anything. But you must be careful child it will not sure everyone and wasting it on those unworthy of its healing powers will make your healing waters stream run dry”

Karissa “yes mam”

LuCretia “good, now Karissa you may go and study scrying please”

Karissa “yes grandma”

LuCretia “Hope, come here child”

Hope “yes mam?”

LuCretia “child you have received your gift”

Hope “I have?”

LuCretia “yes child, you are an oracle like me”

Hope “wait you are an oracle?”

LuCretia “yes I am”

Hope “I thought the last known oracle of our coven was the towns founding mother LuCretia whetstone?”

LuCretia “yes darling that is correct. I am LuCretia”

Hope “holy s**t”

LuCretia “language young lady”

Hope “I am sorry mam. But how are you here? You died over 400 years ago”

LuCretia “I am dead in your time but not in mine this library links our times so I can teach the twins all I can to help guide them on their path to their ultimate battle”

Hope “wow”

LuCretia “yes, have you had any visions yet darling?”

Hope “yes one this morning”

LuCretia “what was it about?”

Hope “it was about sheriff whetstone”

LuCretia “alright we will talk later about it”

Hope “yes mam”

LuCretia “very well. Emma how is the reading coming along?”

Emma “good mam”

Ashleigh “grandma the machine stopped”

LuCretia walks out into the attic to check on the machine and the process has completed already. She removes the needles and wakes Zane’s father.

LuCretia “Alan, your son is half demon correct?”

Alan “no he is not Lady LuCretia”

LuCretia “how much demon is he?”

Alan “1/3 my lady”

LuCretia “very well”

Ashleigh “grandmother do you know him?”

LuCretia “yes child, Alan was a wizard who lived her centuries ago in my time. One of our first settlers”

Karissa “then how old is Zane?”

Alan “Zane is 16. I am the one who is immortal I have been around for over 600 years”

Ashleigh “does Zane know?”

Alan “yes, I wasn’t known as Alan people knew me as Merlin”

Karissa “Merlin as in the most powerful wizard of all time?”

Alan “yes, Alan Roberts is my birth name. but I went by Merlin when I would do open magic”

LuCretia “enough I will talk with you later Alan. It is time to wake the boy”

Alan “yes please wake him”

LuCretia begins waking Zane. After several minutes Zane wakes up and Ashleigh runs and hugs him tightly.

Ashleigh “Zane I was so worried you wouldn’t wake up”

Zane “I am awake, and I am okay I think”

LuCretia scans over Zane and says “yes you are better than okay you are no longer demonic anymore you are now only half human and half wizard”

 Zane “that’s great thank you Mrs. Whetstone”

LuCretia “you are very welcome child”

Ashleigh “thank you grandma”

LuCretia “of course my child”

Karissa “not to rain on this wonderful even but it is almost dinner time and mom and dad will be waiting for us. So, it might be best to get everyone home A.S.A.P.”

Ashleigh “okay I will take Zane and his dad home”

Karissa “I will take Emma and Hope home”

LuCretia “I will go back into the library to my own time”

Karissa and Ashleigh “thank you grandma for everything and we will see you in the morning”

LuCretia “my pleasure darling, I will see you in the morning”

Karissa takes Emma and Hope home. Ashleigh takes Zane and his father home.

Zane “dad I’m gonna walk Ashleigh outside”

Mr. Roberts “alright son when you come back in we will decide what to do for dinner”

Zane “okay dad”

Ashleigh “I am so glad you are okay”

Zane “look ash I am sorry about not telling you about me and my dad I just found out today about the demon part of me”

Ashleigh “did you know about me?”

Zane “yes, but I didn’t know 100%”

Ashleigh “I am not mad I am glad we are both apart of the magical community”

Zane “me too, now I don’t have to hide anything from you ever again”

Ashleigh “well I better get home before my parents ground me for life”

Zane “I love you Ashleigh Nikol Whetstone”

Ashleigh “I love you too Zane Alexander Roberts”

The give each other a kiss. Ashleigh went home.

Ashleigh is in her room practicing lighting the ember and every time she does it the ember lights even brighter. Ashleigh twinlepathied Karissa “Rissa can you come here plz?”

Karissa “okay coming”

Karissa walks into Ashleigh’s room “what’s up sis?”

Ashleigh “are you okay?”

Karissa “I am great I made healing water today and you made an ember Zane was cured from his demon blood Emma came into her powers and so has Hope Luke is safe and is living with Keith. I am happy nothing could make me happier than I am right now”

Ashleigh “I have a bad feeling Rissa”

Karissa “Ash everything is fine”

Ashleigh “you are right”

Karissa “get some sleep sis love you”

Ashleigh “night love you too”

Karissa “remember that damn parade is in the morning”

Ashleigh “right have to get up early to finish”

            Thanksgiving morning Nikki is making a breakfast feast as she does every year. Pancakes eggs bacon toast muffins sausage French toast. It is like a breakfast fit for a queen. Ashleigh and Karissa ate faster then I think their bodies could digest because they had to hurry to the school to finish their float. On the way to the school Ashleigh called Zane and then she called Luke for Karissa so they could spend the morning with the loves of their lives on thanksgiving. After an hour or so everyone else started showing up to the school to get their floats in line for the parade this morning. The twins was able to finish their float just in time to get it time to dry. Zane and the girls get their float in line for the parade. The parade is gonna start any moment not the girls ran to get into the uniforms. Ashleigh and Karissa were the last two in the girls locker room once they were finished getting dressed a woman came face to face with Ashleigh.

Mysterious woman “who do we have here? My sons little white witch lover?”

Ashleigh “who the hell are you?”

Mysterious woman “I am Piper Levings and Zane’s mother”

Ashleigh “what the f**k do you want?”

Piper “oh nothing much, just for you to tell me why I cannot track my son”

Ashleigh “I don’t know what you are talking about”

Piper “I will find him and when I do he will become the next clan leader”

Ashleigh “we will see”

Piper disappears without a trace. Karissa and Ashleigh run up to the floats Zane is gonna ride on the cheer float as the school’s mascot. The parade was a complete success. Now everyone is at home with their families enjoying home cooked thanksgiving meal. Everyone happy and healthy. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone.
