Chapter 1“Shh,” a voice whispers as gentle fingertips stroke your brow. “It’s okay.”
Your arms and legs feel stuck to…something. You’re sweating like crazy, and you can’t see.
It doesn’t really feel okay at all.
“I’m going to help you,” the voice promises. “We talked about this. Can you remember?”
“No?”
The voice groans and you hear an odd sounding smack.
“I think I hit you too hard.”
“If you’re helping me, why did you hit me?!”
“Because this is a big secret, duh!” The voice has the kind of exasperation that makes you think this has been an argument before.
“Look, I’m going to turn on the light, and I need you to promise you won’t freak out, okay?”
You try to shrug, but your shoulders are stuck too.
“I’ll try?”
“Good enough…”
There’s a soft click, and a moment later lights on
