The One

Confusion

Eli watched her father coughing up another mouthful of blood and felt anger rising up again.

The clawing at her insides was not helping alongside the rapidly spreading warmth in her body. She chose to ignore the feeling and focused on her parent.

" We need to get you to a hospital.", she scrambled to get the keys, but her mother cut in,

" It's okay. He'll be alright. No need for that."

She casted a confused glance at their direction.

It's not alright at all. She said with a stern voice, "We will get him to hospital now."

She watched in a confused state how her parents squirmed before her father spoke up. It looked like he gathered a whole lot of courage before speaking.

"It's alright sweetheart. It's not serious. I'll be ok at morning."

" Dad... I don't think that would be good." She turned impatient with the lack of cooperation from them, and her voice started to get hard.

The feeling of being disobeyed is not sitting well with her.

She herself got confused with her own state of mind but the feeling was hard to ignore. Her parents fidgeted in their place uncomfortably. She was going to tell them to move when the softest whimper broke her stance again.

Eli turned and crouched in time when Ariana threw herself in her embrace.

Ariana hugged Eli like her life depended on that embrace.

She was scared to death when the man charged towards the only people whom she knows as family.... when he talked about taking away the only person she knows as her everything.

When the men were gone, she felt uneasy seeing Eli getting agitated over the conversation with her parents and she wanted the comfort that comes with the elder's embrace.

So, she got up and called her ... before burying herself into the older's body.

She cried in relief as the fresh smell of Eli enveloped her whole being. Sometimes she feels confused that how can this one person brings so much peace in her being but at the end it doesn't matter.

The only thing matters is that she can be with her Eli and the said person likes to keep her around as well.

Only that matters.. right?
