She was not watching ahead as she opened the gift rapper of a book carefully while walking and bumped into someone.
Looking up, she saw the ever-scowling faces of her grandfather and another elder. Her grandfather's gaze turned cold, and he grumbled, "Watch ahead girl."
She heard her own equally cold voice, "Hello grandfather, hello Mr. Einz. Sorry about that. Excuse me."
With a slight nod, she walked away flipping the first page and smiled. A small note sat atop,
"Hey little Princess Eliena. Wish you a very Happy 8th Birthday.
Love, uncle Ivan"
She looked up and stilled for a moment. Two figures stood in front, out of nowhere.
The ginger-headed boy whined, "Come on, you didn't even flinch."
The brown-haired one smacked his head, "Didn't we tell you long ago that wouldn't work?"
Joel popped up next. He thrust a little thing into her hand. It was a small silver flower brooch made from scrapped metal and a fake black gem in the middle.
"We crafted it ourselves. Sorry, it's not that much."
She traced a finger on the detailed petals and leaf made off metal and looked up. The three gave shy smile and she smiled. Giving the book to hold for her she attached the brooch on her black jacket just above her heart.
"Thank you. It's beautiful."
Their face broke into wide grins, "See at evening party then. Happy birthday.." The trio waved at her and she did the same.
Turning around she thrusted a hand in her jacket's pocket feeling a little sheathed dagger settle in and smirked knowing very well where it came from.
The smell of rotten flesh and mud was filling the air around them. Shine, an delta girl, whom she promised to help finding the exotic flower, watched around cautiously trying to find a way out of the situation they are in. The beta of the trio, Ben stood in front, protective of the other two, watching the two rouges circling them.
"A delta, a beta, and a human. What a combination. You wandered a too far little ones" one of them mocked.
Shine snarled, "No matter what we are, you are rouges. Get Out of our land."
"And let me remind you baby girl, we are powerful, much more than you."
Her cold voice cut through the mocking chuckle, "Being a mindless killer and feasting over your own kin doesn't make you powerful. It makes you despicable."
Their teasing features crooked with malice, "Quiet informative. What do you suggest then little human?"
"Surrender, Bear punishment. You'll be taken back to pack life and given position as deserved." She shrugged.
The man with bigger built looked contemplative but she can see the calculative gaze. "Conditions and promises... says who?"
"Alpha's daughter." She calmly said despite the hiss from Ben. The rouge's face split into an evil grin.
"Amusing... "
