Chapter 1: Nine Troublesome New Recruits
Parallel World.
The sky was overcast with dark clouds, and the air was stiflingly hot. A soldier in camouflage strode into a military tent.
Three soldiers stood at the tent entrance. The platoon leader glanced inside and then stopped the man from entering.
"Company Commander, don't go in yet. The regimental commander is furious inside. Going in now will only make things worse!"
"Impossible! I'm quitting this job as company commander today! I'm going to make this clear! I've been leading troops for so many years, and I've never felt so humiliated!"
"Third Brother, look at your temper! Calm down! Don't come at the regimental commander! We've all been treated like dogs!"
"Actually, leading troops isn't that complicated. Don't get so worked up! It's not worth it!"
"Not worth it?" The company commander glared and roared, "You make it sound so easy! Anyway, I'm not going to serve those bastards again today!"
The regimental commander inside the tent overheard their conversation. He immediately roared authoritatively, "What are you all babbling about outside? Get yourselves in here!"
The men exchanged glances, knowing they'd have to face them sooner or later. They sighed and silently went into the tent.
Standing before a military map was Wang Yongfa, the regimental commander of their Cheetah Regiment. He was bowing his head, holding a cup, while a company commander, being reprimanded, stood to his side.
Wang Yongfa turned around. "Well done! You guys are my best company and platoon leaders. Now you all want to quit?"
The company commander and his men were immediately speechless.
However, they were also helpless.
They were all Wang's old subordinates, having followed him since basic training!
The reason they had become company and platoon leaders was because of his constant promotions!
They would never forget this kindness, but the task he had given them was simply too difficult!
"Commander, if you asked me to go to the battlefield right now, I wouldn't hesitate, but I really can't complete this mission."
"Yeah, look at those bastards! How are we supposed to serve them? We can't hit them, we can't scold them. I'm a company commander, and they treat me like a grandson!"
"Sigh, the more I think about it, the angrier I get! The more I think about it, the more humiliated I feel!"
"Especially that savage, damn it, in my eight years of service, I've never seen such terrifying manners!"
"And that rich kid, he's always threatening us, saying he'll send us to a military court!"
"Not only that, Commander, among these new recruits..." There's also this super-rich second-generation guy, from some family of traditional Chinese medicine practitioners, some family of martial arts masters—damn, all sorts of backgrounds! You can't beat them, you can't even scold them, it's really f*****g weird!
"In short, Commander, we really can't manage these soldiers. You'd better find someone else!"
"Commander, I want to live a few more years! Old Ma was so angry he was hospitalized, and Old Li was injured by these arrogant recruits! I... I really can't do this anymore. My old mother is counting on me to retire and enjoy her retirement."
The third company commander and his men rattled off a long string of words, their faces full of grievance and pain.
These men were talking about this year's recruits!
Training recruits?
That's a whole other story!
Easily sending recruits off and getting commendations and honors—many people wouldn't even qualify for such a good thing.
But this batch of recruits is a bunch of monsters!
First, there's Wild Man Zang Chong, fierce and powerful, with exceptional skills. His martial arts are unparalleled, and his resilience is phenomenal. It's said he grew up eating wolves in the Northeast forests; one punch from him could shatter reinforced concrete.
Second, Zhang Shuai, grandfather and father both leaders of the Northwest Military Region. He possesses rich military knowledge, is arrogant and overbearing, and his manners are also top-notch. He looks down on everyone! In his presence, not even a company commander or regimental commander would show him any respect!
Third, there's Han Xiang, a rich second-generation heir. His father is among the top five richest people in China. In the recruit training camp, he's practically the biggest nouveau riche, believing money can solve everything. He was sent to the army for reformation because of his bad temper.
Fourth, there's Hua Shan Ke, from a family of traditional Chinese medicine practitioners. His medical skills are unparalleled, and he excels in combat. He usually wears glasses and has a smiling, harmless appearance, but the first two company commanders felt they were being secretly targeted by him, as he released a seemingly harmless poison.
Otherwise, Old Ma wouldn't have been so angry he vomited!
Fifth, Hao Lianyao, the boxing champion, is a rare boxing genius with fierce fighting skills. He knows all kinds of attack patterns, but his personality is wicked and arrogant; he likes to hurt people at the slightest provocation.
Sixth, Qin Yang, is slightly better. A computer science graduate from Tsinghua University, he knows modern warfare and can talk about combat theory fluently. Old Li almost cried when he discussed combat theory with him during a break in training!
Seventh, Su Xiaoyu, a show-off, has a silver tongue, always has a smile on his face, is a fence-sitter, and is ultimately useless. He's just here to collect his demobilization pay!
Eighth, the sprint king, Little Cheetah Xu Kai, is unbeatable in speed. He's rumored to be preparing to participate in the Military World Games to gain prestige. His background is said to be that of the third-generation direct descendant of a certain official in the military region, making him even more intimidating!
Ninth, Gao's son, Wang Tianyi, claims to be the best in the world, looks down on everyone, and is extremely selfish.
So, this is really tough!
These people all have powerful backers!
They're incredibly difficult to manage!
Offending one person is like offending a whole group of big shots!
Will he even be able to get by in the military after that?
Even seemingly unconnected characters like Zang Chong, Hua Shan Ke, Hao Lian, and Xiao Yao are no match for him…
So leading this batch of recruits is pure torture!
The Third Company Commander is an excellent commander, having won the Best Instructor Award for three consecutive years, but even he has turned out like this with this recruit company…
The Third Company Commander is truly exhausted!
He's on the verge of a breakdown.
Most importantly, in just over ten days, their company has already had three different company commanders!
It seems this group is determined to replace the entire Cheetah Regiment before they stop.
Wang Yongfa is also extremely frustrated.
He knows all too well the backgrounds of these recruits.
Even the company commander and the others didn't know that Zang Chong, Su Xiaoyu, and the others, who seemed to have no connections, were not people Wang Yongfa could afford to offend!
Wang Yongfa lit a cigarette, his face full of worry!
He had thought he'd struck gold with this recruit training camp, but it turned out to be a bunch of hot potatoes.
What was he going to do?
