03: Willingness

1096 Words
Asteria I'm busy fixing my suitcase that I will bring to the province, and I chose beautiful dresses with the newly bought ones to put it. Mom called since she was so excited for me to go to the province, looks like they don't want me here. I got for Florentina earlier who's now busy on folding clothes while I put the clothes gently into the suitcase. I stopped folding when I heard a knock and Mom came in, signalling Florentina to go out for a while. “Asteria, I hope you're not holding a grudge on us,” Mom said as she walked over to my side, “We know that this is good for you to know the different sides of a human's life. It's not money that revolves around you, especially shopping, lessen it, okay?” She is preaching to me, that made me breathe deeply. It looks like I'd have a hard time, mostly because my friends wouldn't be there, they won't get to be with me with just a single call, I also don't want to say no and give my parents' disappointment. “I know, Mom,” I answered and continued to pack things. Mom was then about to hug me when I stopped her, “Mom, I don't do hugs.” I told her which made her roll her eyes. “Yeah, yeah, I know. Maybe you and my friend's child would get along,” said Mom matching it with romantic excitement which made me wonder, I went with the flow of what Mom wanted until we finally finished packing my things. The night quickly passed until the day that I hate coming.. I fixed myself a little as the maids carried my suitcases downstairs. While I was walking down, I saw my parents busy eating breakfast, and when they saw me, they immediately kissed my cheeks. “Good Morning, my dear. Eat your breakfast, this is your special day,” said Mom like her lips would be torn because of excitement that she's feeling. What the heck is particular today? “Good morning, Mom and Dad, what's breakfast for today?” I asked them, ignoring the so-called special day that they're mentioning. I slowly sat down and smelled my favourite ham that's served on the table. “Well, it's your favourite food,” Dad said as he pulled a chair for Mom to sit on and continued to eat that I interrupted earlier. “Did I forget to tell you that we won't give you an allowance?” Mom asked which made me stand up in shock. “What?!” I exclaimed. Dad was faking cleared his throat to signal me to sit. Ugh, I got unlucky, and now it's tripled than the usual consequences that they usually give me. “Well, I know that it would be hard for you, but if you need money, then you would have to earn it.” Mom said to Dad nods as a sign of agreement. I know that even if I talk back, I won't be able to do anything, so I only nodded my head and stood up, not finish my food. “I need to go, bye, Mom and Dad,” I told them, and they only nodded, I'm used to this stuff, mainly because I don't see them much, so even if I'm not in this mansion, they're okay with it. I then saw the car with my things with the ready driver in front. I entered the car as we slowly took the route to that specific province; I then let myself get swept away by sleepiness. “Maam, ma'am.” The driver lightly tapped me, which made me wake up as I heard sounds coming from the outside, looking like their chit-chatting. “What?” I sneered because if my sleep is disturbed, I immediately helped myself up and looked at the time. Four o'clock in the afternoon, earlier, we left at 9 o'clock. I slept long. “We're already here.” He said, I then scanned the place, around us was filled with farms while people are busy doing stuff there. I don't have any idea on what they're doing, straight away I stood up and started taking out my stuff. “Where will I live?” I asked him, and he immediately pointed to the house—wait, it isn't a house because it's smaller than expected... it's a hut. “You expect me to live in a hut?” I sneered at him, the things we got interrupted when an older woman came out with such a plain outfit, I think she's ten years older than Mom. “Oh, so you're here already. Your mother is right; you're such a beautiful lady. Come, let's go inside. I'm sure you guys would like it here.” She said with her curly hair being blown by the wind. I was wearing a skirt and blouse. The driver was putting my things inside. The woman was about to hug me, but I stopped her, “I don't do hugs.” She stopped midway, “Is that so, I'm sorry because I don't know anything about you. By the way, I'm your Aunt Cecilia, come inside our little house.” She said as I followed her inside, the path is rocky; that's why I can't help but become unbalanced. I was about to fall when someone caught, and I saw a man looking directly at my eyes, his eyes are brown that is beautiful to look at for the sun is shining on them. I immediately stood up because I didn't know him yet he held my waist, and I walked straight into the house not minding who that guy is “Won't you even thank me?” He asked, his voice is seriously that matched his facial features, then I stopped and became steady like a stone when he suddenly rested his hand on my shoulder. “Why would I?” I bravely answered with his hand tightening that gave me a new sensation on my body. “Because I caught you before you fell to the ground, lovely miss.” He answered I don't know if that's his way of annoying me or what, but I can't hide the shyness I'm feeling from what he said. To be honest, no one has ever called me that because it isn't on-trend primarily because those words were only used in the past, like in Filipino our history. Plus, I didn't order him to catch me; he did it on his own. I was about to talk when Aunt Cecilia came out and uttered, “Son, so you're already here.” She said that made me shocked, does this mean that he's the one that Mom was talking about? Her friend's child.
