30 Kira gaped at the dead man slumped against her. Cops poured out of their cars and began running toward the trees with flashlights and guns. A tide of bitterness rose in her throat, threatening for a moment to choke her. The man she had taken down had been no more than a pawn. The Procurer had played her. And now he was gone. Again.
