He drives off. I didn’t give any directions, so I hope he knows where he’s going. That was an interesting altercation. Oh my god! I say to myself. The school, finally. It felt like I’ve been walking forever. As I’m walking into the school I notice the guy who was driving beside me. He acknowledges me, “Hey, little Rae! Wait up.” Say what? Wait up? Uhm no thank you. I start to walk faster. “I’m sorry, can I help you?” I turn and abruptly say. He takes a moment and pauses. He takes me by the hand and runs to the side of the school. I can barely keep up, so half the time he’s dragging me. We get to the side of the school, “Do you not sense anything different?” I give him a confused look. “Seriously?” He persists with this.
“Look dude, I dunno who you are and what you want from me, but leave me alone. There are plenty of other girls in this school that would love the attention you’re giving me. So, if you don’t mind, I’d love my hand back. And now goodbye.” But I can’t move, something rooted me to the ground. What. Something whispers in my head, Mate. What is going on today? Suddenly I’m hit with waves and waves of citrus and pine. Beautiful scent, yum. I get lightheaded and tumble into this guy's hands. I breathe in deeper, wow, he smells amazing. No, I can’t do this. I’m leaving. “Sorry man, can’t help. Gotta go. Even though you smell amazing,” did i say that out loud? “But class is starting soon. I’ll see you later.” He lets me go. Finally, he lets me go. “I’ll find you after school Raelynn. See you later.”
I’m minding my own business when Taylor walks into the office. “Can I help you?” I ask so politely. She looks annoyed. “No, I need a real adult, not some wanna be.”
“They left me in charge for right now. So, what can I help you with, Taylor?” She tells me she needs the nurse, so I take her to the nurse and leave them be. “Raelynn, I need you in here.” The nurse calls for me. I walk in and see something I wish I never saw. Taylor, bleeding, blood everywhere, I’m freaking out. So is Taylor. “What the hell happened here?” The nurse is looking frantic, “I don’t know. We were just going over how she had a headache then she started throwing up blood. I think you need to call 9-1-1.” I run over to my phone and call the cops. Give them details of what’s going on and end the call. I go over and sit next to Taylor, I put my hand on her arm to try to calm her, I did not expect what happened next.
I’m transferred to something, I’m not in the school anymore. “Hello?” I yell out. I walk around, but I don’t see anything but white walls. What’s going on? “Raelynne Hawthorne. The time has come for you to know where you came from.” I turned around frantically, thinking there was someone behind me. There’s nobody there. “I’m tripping balls right now.”
This lady laughs at me, “No, honey. You’re not. You’re in a coma state, but very well awake. I’ll show you.” Whoever this is shows me what’s going down in the nurse's office, I’m passed out next to Taylor, the nurse is freaking out cause we both aren’t waking up. “What’s happening? Why am I here?” I’m frantically asking questions. “Calm down child. It’s going to be ok. You’ll be awake soon, but the time has come for you to know who you truly are. You are not human, you’re supernatural. I know, it may seem strange but this is true, my dear.” What she’s saying makes no sense. “Seriously, lady. What do you mean?”
“The time is right for you to know who and what you are. Over the next few days you will go through change and hear things, smell things no one else can. You are powerful my dear, and it’s time I showed you how special you are. You are unique and one of a kind. Now, it’s time to wake up my child. Time to go back to the real world. I will see you again, very soon. Ask your mother where you came from. She’ll help you understand. Goodbye, my child.” No, I still have questions! Don’t leave them unanswered! I wake back up trying to scream at her to talk to me.
The nurse looks frantic, Skylar’s here, so is the dude that snatched me to the side of the school. “What happened to Talor? And you, Rae?” He’s asking me. I am dumbstruck, “I-I-I don’t know. Honestly.” They all look at me likeI’m something other than myself. “Sis, your hair. It has streaks of white in it. Did you dye your hair before you got here?”
“What, no. I didn’t. I don’t know what just happened.” But I can tell things are gonna get interesting around here
