"Yes, it's me. Let me introduce myself. I'm Vincent Sterling, the General Manager of Blossom Group. But now, my most important role is your personal steward," Vincent said with a smile.
"You mentioned an inheritance on the phone yesterday... What's that about?" I asked.
"Do you remember saving an old man named Mr. Draco three years ago and taking care of him for a month?"
I thought back. I used to enjoy swimming and did save an elderly man named Mr. Draco from drowning. I took care of him for a long time. "Yes, I did save. What happened to him?"
"A week ago, Mr. Draco passed away from an illness. Before he died, he left a will. Since he had no children, he decided to leave all his assets to you."
I was a bit stunned and couldn't help but ask, "How much are we talking about?"
"Blossom Group owns a total of 127 companies, including 13 internationally listed ones like Blossom International Bank, Blossom Trust, and Blossom Real Estate, with a total market value of around ten trillion. Besides these, there are numerous properties, antiques, precious metals, etc. There are also billions in cash and precious metals in the bank's vault for your daily expenses."
"Billions, just for my daily expenses?" My voice began to tremble. "Are you sure all of this is for me?"
"Absolutely. If you don't believe me, you can sign the papers right now." Vincent placed an inheritance contract in front of me. "However, Mr. Draco's will includes three challenges. You must pass all three to inherit his entire fortune."
"Mr. Draco drafted three contracts in total, each representing a challenge. You now must review the first contract."
I picked up the contract, my hands shaking like I was about to collapse. When I saw the terms, I was overjoyed. "Spend 5 million within seven days to inherit one-third of the vault's assets? Who wouldn't take on such a challenge?"
But then, Vincent flipped the contract to the second page. My initial excitement was dampened as if cold water had been poured over me. The second page outlined three restrictions on my spending.
1. No gambling, no buying cars, houses, antiques, paintings, or luxury goods.
2. No reckless spending; each expense must have a purpose.
3. Spending must occur within the current city, and I must not tell anyone about the trillion-dollar inheritance.
There were many other important clauses.
The most crucial one was: If I failed to spend 5 million within seven days, I would lose all rights to the inheritance, and all of Mr. Draco's assets would be donated to charity.
Reading these terms made me anxious. How was I supposed to spend 5 million wisely? But I knew I couldn't stay poor. I wanted to be richer than those who bullied me last night. I wanted them to pay.
With this resolve, I signed my name without hesitation and asked Vincent, "Can you take me to see the vault?" Passing the first challenge would give me one-third of the vault's wealth, and I needed to see this multi-billion dollar vault with my own eyes.
"Of course, boss, but we need to go through some procedures first." Vincent took the contract and changed his address for me. I was a bit surprised but didn't ask further.
Then Vincent left, and I began to imagine my life after becoming rich.
Just then, the elevator door on the eighth floor opened. The female employee who had given me a hard time earlier walked in, followed by a group of security guards.
She saw me and shouted, "That's him, that pervert! Grab him before he disrupts today's important guests."
Before I could react, several security guards pinned me to the ground. "What are you doing? Let me go!" I was enraged, having just reached the peak of my life but only to be pressed to the ground.
"What do you think? Who told you to harass me?" The female employee said angrily.
"I didn't harass you. I'm here for business. I'm the important guest you're waiting for."
"You? An important guest?" The female employee laughed. "Look at yourself. Your entire outfit isn't worth more than two hundred bucks. How could you be a VIP?"
As she mocked me, a voice suddenly came from behind the crowd, "What's going on here?"
I recognized Vincent's voice.
The female employee turned around excitedly and said, "Mr. Sterling, I caught a pervert. I was about to throw him out. Don't worry, with me, Lynn Willowbrook, here, I won't let him disrupt today's important guest."
"Pervert?" Vincent looked in my direction. He was immediately terrified.
"Chairman, are you alright?" He quickly walked over to me. "Let me help you up."
"Chairman?" Lynn froze. "Mr. Sterling, what did you call him?"
"He's the new chairman of Blossom Group. What do you think I called him?" Vincent said coldly.
"Impossible! How could he be the new chairman?!" Lynn was dumbfounded. After a few seconds, she knelt on the ground. "Chairman, I'm so sorry. Please forgive me."
"Chairman, what should we do? Should we fire her?" Vincent asked as he cast a glance at me.
Upon hearing she might be fired, Lynn panicked and crawled over to hug my leg. "Chairman, please don't fire me. I'll do anything." She even pulled down her neckline to show her cleavage, trying to seduce me.
I looked down at her. From my angle, I could see the deep cleavage between her breasts. To be honest, Lynn was attractive; she had an ample chest and curvy hips. She also exuded a mature woman's charm that schoolgirls couldn't match.
But after seeing her shift from arrogance to submission, I felt only disgust. I looked down at her and sneered, "Anything?"
"Yes, anything! Please forgive me," Lynn pleaded, rubbing her chest against my leg. Maybe she thought that if she could sleep with me, she could be my lover, turning her situation around and climbing steadily up the ranks at Blossom Bank.
"Alright, you can stay at the bank, but you'll be cleaning the toilets." I smiled.
Lynn was stunned, but I ignored her and turned to Vincent. "Mr. Sterling, can I see the vault now?"
"Of course, Chairman. Please follow me." Vincent led me to the exclusive executive elevator. After going through five sets of fingerprints and iris scans, several metal doors opened before me. After verifying my identity for the sixth time, a vault the size of a football field appeared.
"Chairman, this is your private vault. Let me give you a tour. On the left are your gold reserves, each bar weighing 250 grams, and, in total, you have 10 tons of gold being kept here. On the right are luxury watches. I didn't know which brands you liked, so I prepared the top brands globally and obtained a total of 2,000 watches."
"Further ahead is the cash reserve. The right side is local currency, and the left is foreign currencies, mainly pounds, euros, and other major currencies. There are also smaller country currencies. The total value of the vault is approximately three billion dollars!"
As I listened to Vincent's detailed description and looked at the enormous vault, I felt truly amazed. I knew the vault held a lot of money and was mentally prepared but seeing it in person was a whole different experience. This was true wealth.
I couldn't help but swallow hard. "Three billion dollars!! So, if I pass the first challenge, I'll get one billion?"
