Chapter 3

"Yes, Chairman. If you can spend the 5 million on this card within seven days, you can take away one-third of the wealth here without any formalities!" Vincent said with a smile. "Now, you can go back and think about how to spend the money. I'll contact you later." "Alright, I'll head back then." After saying goodbye to Uncle Sterling, I felt like I was in a dream. I even pinched my thigh hard to make sure I really wasn't dreaming. "But how do I spend all this money?" While looking at the 5 million balance in my account, I felt the sweet agony of wealth for the first time. My phone rang; it was my classmate and best friend, Wayne Carter. "Ryan, where have you been all morning? Are you planning to fail your classes?" "Got it. I'm coming back right now." After hanging up, I hailed a cab to school. When I got back to class, my beautiful mentor, Evelyn Harper, gave me a stern scolding. But she looked stunning today; she was wearing a black pencil skirt, a white blouse, and black-framed glasses that made her look both intellectual and sexy. I won't deny that I've fantasized about sleeping with her. Her name, Evelyn, was as beautiful as she was. She kept reprimanding me, but I wasn't listening at all. All I could think about was her scent. In the past, I always hung my head in shame when I made mistakes. But now, I was the heir to Blossom Group, so I felt more confident. I started to look her in the eyes as she scolded me. "If you're late again, you’ll no longer be able to attend my class," Evelyn said, not noticing my change in demeanor. After scolding me, she let me go back to my seat. As soon as I sat down, Tiger Woods, a rich kid from my class, came over with a smirk. "Ryan, how about a dinner party tonight?" "A dinner party?" Wayne, who was sitting nearby, wanted to refuse on my behalf, but I stopped him. "Who's coming?" I knew Tiger was up to no good; he was inviting me to a dinner party when he knew I had no money. "Of course, some pretty ladies will be there. Tonight, the guys from our department are having a get-together with the girls from the music department." Music department? I instantly understood his true intention. Yesterday, Lina, who was from the music department had set me up, and now Tiger wanted to humiliate me by making me a laughingstock again. But he had no idea I was looking for a way to spend 5 million; I even hoped that Lina would be there. "I can join, but I have one condition," I said with a smile. "I'm inviting you to a get-together on my dime and you’re setting conditions?" Tiger looked like he wanted to punch me. But I wasn't the same person as before. I stared at him coldly and said, "Did I say you had to pay for me? Why can't I treat the girls from the music department myself?" "You’re going to foot the bill?" Tiger was shocked, and so were my other classmates. After all, I was known as the poorest student at South Ocean University. It was surprising that I suddenly wanted to treat everyone. "Ryan, are you out of your mind? Don't be impulsive!" Wayne reprimanded me, worried because he knew how poor I was. He often helped me out financially. But I ignored him and looked at Tiger. "But tonight's dinner costs should be split between us. Are you okay with that?" "Haha, we’re going to split the bill? Why wouldn't I be okay with that? But do you really have the money to treat us?" Tiger squinted at me. "How about this: if you can't pay, you'll have to kneel and lick my shoes," I said. "Fine. But if you can't pay, you'll have to kneel and lick my shoes!" Tiger agreed confidently, thinking I couldn't possibly come up with the money. *** At 7 p.m., Wayne and I arrived at a Michelin three-star restaurant, the fanciest one near our school. Soon, Tiger arrived with seven girls from the music department. They all had long legs and good looks. However, I was disappointed that Lina wasn't among them. But there was someone else: Lola Yates, Lina's roommate, who had laughed the loudest at me when I was humiliated in the hotel yesterday. If I couldn't get back at Lina, I could at least start with Lola. When Lola saw me in the hall, she laughed. "Tiger, you actually brought Ryan here!" "Of course, how could I refuse my goddess's order?" Tiger said, obviously trying to impress Lola. "Why did you want me to bring Ryan?" Tiger asked, puzzled. "Don't you know? Yesterday in Hilton Hotel, he was..." Lola briefed what happened yesterday, making me a laughingstock again. Everyone laughed, but I stayed calm and continued to play on my phone. After a while, Tiger waved his hand. "Stop laughing, everyone. We don't want him to run off in anger. After all, he's treating us tonight." "What? He's treating us?" Lola was shocked. "He's not going to treat us to instant noodles, is he?" "Who knows? Anyway, he said he's treating us. If he can't pay, he promised to kneel and lick my shoes," Tiger said with a sneer. "Then let's make him kneel right now. He looked pretty good when he was kneeling in the hotel last night," Lola laughed. I ignored her and saw Lynn, the woman who wanted me to have s*x with her at the bank today. I even heard the server call her "Boss." Lynn also noticed me. She was curious why a student with access to a several billion-dollar fortune was so low-key. But when she walked towards me, I stopped her with a glance. Tiger happily snapped his fingers, and a beautiful waitress approached. "Sir, how can I help you?" "Get us a large private room." "Sure, sir. We have a 20,000-dollar standard room, a 50,000-dollar deluxe room, and a 100,000-dollar VIP room. Which one would you like?" The waitress asked with a smile. Tiger turned to me. "We're having a special get-together with the music department girls. A standard room won't do. How about a deluxe room?" "Tiger, isn't that too much? The deluxe room requires a minimum spend of 50,000 dollars!" Wayne became upset. Everyone knew Tiger was deliberately making things difficult for me. Ignoring Wayne, Tiger said to me, "What do you think? Didn't you say you'd treat us? Are you scared of the deluxe room's price?" "No need for a deluxe room," I said calmly. "Haha, I knew you were a penny-less loser who was just trying to show off. Let's go with the standard room," Tiger said to the waitress. "Okay, I’ll arrange it for you," The waitress smiled and nodded. "Wait, when did I say we'd get a standard room?" I suddenly spoke up. "What? You think it's too expensive and want to back out?" Tiger asked. "If we're having a special get-together, why get a standard room? Let's get the VIP room," I said calmly. Tiger was stunned, and his smile disappeared. The seven girls from the music department were also shocked. "Ryan, are you crazy? Didn’t you hear that the VIP room costs 100,000 dollars!" Wayne tried to persuade me. Tiger looked upset. He didn't expect me to choose the VIP room. The waitress's expression also changed. She didn't expect me to be the wealthiest among us. Lola looked me up and down, shocked that I, the supposedly poorest student at school, dared to book the VIP room. "Ryan, can you really afford this?" Wayne asked anxiously. "Of course. I'm more worried that Tiger can't afford it," I said calmly.
