TANNER POV
When I entered the room after my conversation with Ken, she was awake. She told us about the ridiculous dream she had. The Moon Goddess doesn't visit anyone anymore. It was probably just her own way to cope with whatever happened during her panic attack. The girls went and got ready to greet this mysterious guest.
I waited downstairs with Dustin. As cars started pulling up, Adalaina came down the stairs. We stood outside the house. As we waited, multiple cars pulled up, as the men started getting out. Adalaina was bouncing in excitement. These guys were huge, some of the biggest men I've ever seen, with an ally like this. Why would she seek any others. I highly doubt anyone could take down these men. They all stood at attention as the last car pulled up, and more men got out. When the last one stepped out, she had a huge smile on her face. I've never seen her smile that big before. My wolf was restless and upset, telling me I should kill the guy. But I'm pretty sure based on his size, he could kill me with his pinky finger if he wanted to. She starts down the stairs as he opens up his arms with a big smile.
"Laina." He picks her up while they embrace one another and spins her around as she giggles. When he puts her down, he kisses the top of her hair. I try to hide the growl that lowly comes out of me.
"Calm down, it's not what you think." Dustin whispers to me.
They walk up the stairs to meet us, and she's smiling like she wasn't just unconscious after a panic attack. Like her pack hasn't been under constant pressure from rogues.
"Leith, this is Alpha Tanner of the Black Moon Pack. Damien is away at his brother pack but will be here tomorrow to help get some of our pack members to safety. And you already know my gamma, Dustin." She hasn't stopped smiling since his car pulled up. Who the hell is this guy? He gives me a small smile and a nod, then turns to Dustin.
"Gamma Dustin, how have you been?" His voice is deep and full of authority. Dustin gives a small bow. What the?
"Your Highness, I am doing well. Thank you for asking. Also, thank you for coming to help us."
"Of course, Gamma. I'd do anything for Laina." He says as he smiles towards her, and she smiles back. What is happening?
"Leith, come on. We have much to discuss." She grabs his hand and pulls him to her office.
I'm pacing outside her office while Dustin sits there and just watches me. What could they possibly be doing? It's been an hour.
"You know, for someone who's not sure if they want to accept their mate, you sure do seem bothered by her being close to her guest." I stop and turn towards him. He has an amused look on his face. "I understand though, I'd be nervous and bothered too if my mate, accepted or not, was in her office alone with the alpha king." He smirks.
"The alpha king? She knows the alpha king personally? How?" I'm trying to keep myself and my wolf calm. But I'm spiraling. How do they know each other?
"Yep, the alpha king. They're really close. I wouldn't worry though, he's eighteen years older than her, his mate would be very upset, and that kind of relationship is frowned upon between a brother and sister." My head shoots up.
"Brother and sister? But she doesn't have a brother."
"It's not a well-known thing. Her father never had a son, but her mother, that's a different story. You'll have to ask her, though. It's not my place."
When they both came out, they looked as though they had both cried a bit. King Leith acknowledged Dustin and I, then went to help his men with the tents and whatever else they were doing. The rest of us went to our respective rooms for the night.
