BELLA’S POV~
Wait? Am I burning?
I opened my eyes as my body hit the floor with a thud, my head bounced off the floor, and all I could see was white light.
Before finally closing into a deep trance.
And then a voice woke me up.
“Stay calm, Bella.”
But it wasn't Amber.
I gasped in shock as I looked around, yelling, “Who is there?”
No reply, Amber groaned as she raised herself from the floor. She leaned on the wall and quickly bounced off.
“Seems we have both been out for a while. Are you okay?”
But I was furious, and I didn't answer her. Instead, I raised my middle finger to the pit.
“s**t! f**k you Nora!” she screamed, but the pit was closed, I motioned for Amber to help me reach the top but the lid was firmly attached.
“What the hell, you just let them do that to you?” I inquired, looking around the hot room, with perspiration in fear.
“Where is this place?” I aske,r looking around., I couldn't hear the voice anymore, making me wonder if I needed to get my brain checked.
“The furnace, we burn everything here, especially the games”, she replied, motioning for me to follow her.
“The games?” I looked back at her, wondering if there was another way out.
As we walked, we reached a brick wall, and the way it was shaped, it looked like a maze.
“Alpha Victor…” she started again before taking a long, hard breath.
“He created the Furnace as a hunting ground for human sport,” she finished.
I gasped again in shock, and just then I heard the cries of people on the horizon.
“He is sick!” I exclaimed, “Oh, you can't say that! We are not alone down here,” She continued.
“How do we get out of here, Amber, and most importantly, why are we burning?”
“We can only feel the heat because it's human fire, but it can't penetrate our skin; fire from the temple would have killed us”, she finished.
I shook my head in fright, “Oh God, I've tied myself to the devil!” I said under my breath.
“This is just the tip of the iceberg, our Alpha is capable of much more, he no longer visits me, and I fear soon I'll be gone just like Matilda”, she mentioned.
“We need to get out of here, you know a way?” I inquired, and the cries of burning people lingered in the air.
“We have to go through the maze, the door is at the other side”, she replied, and then her face sank.
“But there is a problem”
“A problem?”
“Three of the Alpha’s rogues are down here, werewolves who have permanently taken their wolf form, they guard the humans”
I shook tremendously. How the heck do we do this?
And the voice came again…
“Stay calm, Bella, be careful”
I turned back, “Did you hear that?”
Amber shook her head, Am I going crazy?
“Are you okay? You hit your head pretty hard,” she mentioned, touching my shoulders.
“Shall we?” she asked, motioning toward the maze. I nodded and followed carefully, fully aware of my corners, hoping a rogue werewolf wouldn't jump at us.
I followed Amber as she led us deeper into the burning maze.
“Careful, no matter what, don't transform, the moon is bright tonight, look,” she mentioned before pointing up at the light reflecting into the pit.
“How did you know that? You've been here before?” I inquired, even more suspicious as we moved further into the never-ending maze, each turn a mystery to solve.
“Look, I've heard stories about the furnace, it's a very dark place. If you transform and the rogues smell that you are not AlphaVictor, they go hysterical and attack,” she replied.
I looked around into the dark burning abyss with the light as our primary guide.
I saw Amber start to slowly grunt in pain as the moonlight touched her skin.
Trying her best not to transform, a feeling I've never felt.
As we stepped through the next maze, I stopped in my steps as I heard a sinister growl.
I noticed I'd heard the sound a few clicks back.
My guts were on high alert; something was right, and now I'd come in too far.
“Something is following us, Amber,” I started, my voice shaking with fear.
Amber turned, and her face had started to change.
“I'm sorry, Bella, but you shouldn't have married Alpha Victor”
The words came out like lightning from her lips.
I watched her slowly transform, her claws sharp like blades.
“There can only be one Luna, and her name is Valerie”
Her jaws and teeth tightened with viciousness.
“Amber! No!” I cried before jumping backwards.
It's all been planned., Valerie knew I wasn't going to make it to work today she set this trap ahead.
It seems I must have underestimated her, she’s just not any human after all.
She controls everything.
“Run, Bella! RUN!” I heard that voice again. It felt like it came from within me.
So as I squirmed on the floor as Amber transformed, I asked the voice in my head, “Who are you?”
“Lydia”, she replied, “I'm your wolf, Bella”
My wolf? How have I never heard her voice before?
“RUN,” Lydia exclaimed, out of nowhere. I felt this sudden burst of energy, I sprang up and ran into the maze, lost and with no help in sight.
As I looked around, the heat and smoke of this hellish pit blinded me.
How do I get out of this?
“Bella, stay calm”, the voice came again., I closed my eyes, and that’s when I saw the burning image of a wolf.
Her skin was a strange colour, and in a blink, she’d transformed into an image of me.
“Who are you?”
She smiled and stepped closer to me, “Don't be afraid, Bella, im you, a lifetime ago”
“What?”
I was confused; the howls were getting closer, and I could tell they were onto me.
The smell, my fear, would lead them to me.
“No time to explain, just trust me, let my voice be your guide, I'll get you out of here.”
I took a very deep breath, my head banging like I'd been hit by a loading truck.
I had no choice but to trust Lydia.
Yet the question dancing endlessly on my mind is, how can I see my wolf form when I've never transformed?
