Chapter 1
31st May 2018
The best day of his life..
The day he finally got his commission after long bone breaking training of 3 years.
That day, a man at his late 50s & almost at the age of retirement, Rear Admiral Anant Murthy had said, "You've made me really proud today son! I have firm belief that you surely have a bright future ahead. I feel you are one of those hundreds officers who could make Indian Navy proud one day!"
All the while this new & dedicated officer had a genuine smile adorning his handsome face. And that smile turned into a bigger curve when Rear Admiral Murthy mentioned his father, Late. Commodore Malhotra, who was a proud martyr of Indian Navy... and said, "Your father might be the proudest today!!"
Rear Admiral Murthy was one of the closest allies of Commodore Malhotra. After his father, Rear Admiral Murthy was his idol, the person he always looks up to. Whereas, for Rear Admiral Murthy, he was no less than his own son.
Rear Admiral Murthy was always worried about this silent & introvert guy standing in front of him. Though he loves this guy immensely, but could never succeed in filling the vacant space which was created when this guy lost his father, his friend, his mentor, in a word, his everything.. when he was just 20. Mr. Murthy couldn't bring this young guy out of the shell of a mature man he had created around himself. But he always believed that, one-day he will let this strong wall break around him in front of someone.. someone who would manage to reserve that special place in his heart that he never gave to anyone.
Seeing him smiling brightly, Rear Admiral Murthy patted his head saying, "Stay like this forever. God bless you my son!!"
Even though 2 years has already passed after that day, but it's still fresh in this Lieutenant Manik Malhotra's mind , who was now getting ready for yet another day of serving Indian Navy. His confidence & pride automatically rises high when he gets into that pure white uniform, white cap with the logo of Indian Navy & white shoes.
Manik is one of the favorites of his seniors for his spirit, confidence & loyalty towards Navy. And this attracts envy towards him from his coursemates. They think Manik was favoured as a cadet & now as an officer too, for being the son of Late Commodore Malhotra & being close to Rear Admiral Murthy. Manik hardly pays attention to what people think about him, he is better with the people close to him & doesn't need anyone else in his life.
Manik hardly opens up to anyone, being a big time introvert. And if he ever does, then that person is surely one of the few people who has a place in his heart.. and by very few, it meant VERY few.. which includes Mr & Mrs Murthy, his childhood freind & also his fellow coursemate, Lieutenant Cabir Murthy & his late parents ofcourse. These are the only people whom he would never let down knowingly or unknowingly.. people whom he would treasure for a lifetime.
On the other side, a girl was pulling the s**t out of her brother's hair, in a beautiful girly room which was now transformed into a devastating warfield because he had supposedly commented on her short height like most other times..
She shouted at the peak of her voice, "How f*****g dare you huh?! You got scolded by dad last time for the same reason na? Then why can't you just mend your ways and let me be?!! You lousy piece of s**t!!!!"
The guy was now trying his best to get out of this mini monster's grip, "Leave me you churail!! It's hurting man!"
Hearing all these shouts, elder Murthy's shook their head in disbelief & Anant stepped in to save his son from being bald at 25 already, "Leave him princess. We all know what a brat he is right!"
Seeing her dad, she left him immediately and ran to her father to complain when her brother just rolled his eyes, caressing his head where she had attacked.
After some consolations, she left to get herself some food to regain her lost energy, when Anant turned to his son with a bored face & said, "When will you grow up?? You're a 25 years old officer, act like one! Try to be like my son, he's so calm & such an understanding grown-up."
"Ya ya right. He's your favorite after all." Cabir joked, "Did you ever ask your favorite, from whom he learnt such approach?! No right! Then let me enlighten you my dad, it was me, his best friend who taught him that. I just don't like taking credits anyways. I alway-"
When he was giving this award winning speach, Anant rolled his eyes & left without even letting him complete his oh-so-proud speech on himself, when his sister came with an icebag and handed it to him without saying anything. Cabir smiled at this caring nature of his sister.
This girl was the princess of the Murthys' residence & a highly pampered one, being the only daughter of the Murthys'.. although she was the chudail for her brother & also the one whom she loves the most, who is 3 years older to her.
She's a girl who loves baking, painting & reading. None of her known ones would seem shocked if they hear she spent her entire day behind these 3 things only..
And also following her interests, she's now perused her profession as a baker after accomplishing her studies. She has a small bakery of her own "Dream pies".. Though it's not that popular yet, but considering only 6 months since she started her new business, it is going on pretty well..In fact her baking skills are high on demand in the Naval quarter they stay in.
Nandini Murthy has immense love for Indian Navy. The pride, the respect, the facilities, the powerful uniform, everything about Navy fascinates her, perks of being the daughter of Rear Admiral Anant Murthy, the grand daughter of late Admiral Kishore Murthy & the Sister of Lieutenant Cabir Murthy..
Nandini is a talkative, extrovert, bubbly & a happy-go-lucky type of a girl. She's a modern & very stylish girl at the same time, who's know as 'The Diva' in her huge community of friends for her great sense of style & her sparkling aura. In simpler words we can say, she's a deadly combination of both hotness & cuteness at the same time.
She can gell up with random people easily & make friends at the drop of a hat irrespective of age or gender.. She might sometimes seem rude or damn caring, but she knows how to value relationships & protect her people always. And once anyone gets a place in that rank in her life, then there's no looking back! Those are such people; she'll treasure for a lifetime!!
