Chapter 1
I was running through the woods minding my own business. I found a lake and laid on the shore. I looked at my reflection, and what was staring back at me was my beautiful white fur and icy blue eyes. My wolf was amazing, my fur color was unique for werewolves. I was lost in thought, thinking that this place was peaceful until I heard a warning growl. I got up and looked around, my eyes fell on two male wolves staring at me. I quickly got up and got into my fighting stance. I felt power radiating off both the wolves. The black wolf looked like an alpha. He was bigger, stronger, and had more power. The brown wolf was a little smaller, but he was still strong and had some power, maybe the beta. I was staring at them waiting for their next move. The alpha growled again trying to get me to surrender to him. I laughed inside at his efforts, because I never back down from a fight or show weakness. That is probably why I can't fit in a pack, because I don't take orders well and I don't submit. I was taken out of my thoughts when I heard a twig snap from my left. I closed my eyes and focused on the sounds around me. That's when I pinpointed five other wolves surrounding me. That equalled seven wolves. I thought to myself, so many for just one little she wolf. I opened my eyes and I heard all the wolves slowly advancing towards me. I watched as they were trying to corner me up against a tree, to their surprise I climbed the tree. After I was up to the top of the tree on a stable branch I shifted back to my human form. (in this story the wolves shift with their clothes on). That's when the seven wolves surrounded the tree and the alpha tried to jump up but failed. I laughed at his efforts and eventually spoke up. “What, the big bad wolves can't climb a tree?” The alpha shifted and yelled back, “Why don't you come down here and we can have some fun, rogue.” I growled at the word rogue. I hate it when werewolves assume all the lone wolves are rogues. I identified myself as a lone wolf. “I’m a lone wolf. anyways I can beat you, any day, any time, if I wanted to.” That got him mad because he growled at me. Alphas don't like to be called weak and that is what I did. He yelled up at me with authority in his voice, “Come down right now!” I laughed and said, “Did you just try to use your alpha voice on me? Well sorry that doesn't work on me. Now leave me alone!” The last sentence I made sure I used my alpha voice. I noticed all but the alpha bowed their heads and left. The alpha was still staring up at me in the tree. “So you’re an alpha?” “Maybe, maybe I’m just a rogue scouting your pack land so I can go back to my base camp to tell them when to attack.” I said. I could tell that he was getting angry with me. “Who are you?” I could tell that his wolf was trying to take over. I couldn’t help but feel a little proud that I was getting under his skin. “Why would I tell you? You tried to attack me when I was laying on the shore of the lake minding my own business.” A very familiar scent hit my nose. The smell was of rogues and hunters. I looked down at the ground and the alpha shifted and ran off. I jumped down and before my feet hit the ground I shifted into my wolf. I quickly ran towards the smell of rogues and hunters. Once I got near I saw the seven wolves that cornered me were fighting with rogues. I quickly made use of my training and took down the hunters and rogues. Once the rest of the pack wolves were done I was standing in my human form looking around. Then I heard a gunshot and pain started in my right side. I became weak and fell to the ground and I started to see black spots. Right before everything went black I saw the alpha wolf running to me, then I passed out. When I finally gained consciousness my right side hurt and I heard an annoying beeping sound coming from a heart monitor. That is how I knew I was in their pack hospital. I tried to move my arms, but they chained to the bed. Now I was really annoyed, I helped those dumb wolves and they chained me to a bed because they think I'm a threat. I looked around to make sure no one was around and I jerked my wrist and broke the chains. Then I politely sat up and unhooked the IV drip and the heart monitor and stood up. I noticed that they changed my clothes to a pair of sweatpants and a white shirt. I decided that I can't stay in this room, so I proceeded to walk out of the room and sniff around to find the alpha. His scent was leading me out of the hospital and outside towards a huge house. From my experience the house was the pack house. On my way through the pack house I came across a couple of people but they didn't say anything, which I was thankful for. I found my way to a door that said, 'Alpha's office'. I didn't bother knocking when I heard a couple of voices talking. I walked in and was greeted by two sets of growls. "Have you ever heard of knocking? We are in the middle of a meeting discussing what to do with the rogue alpha laying in the hospital right now." One guy said. I closed the door behind me and walked over to the couch and laid down. Then I decided to speak up. "Maybe if you were nice enough I would give you information." I growled back. I never did like people disrespecting me especially after I left a pack. All three men looked at me and two of them bowed their heads. The alpha gave me a death glare and then he spoke up. "How did you break those chains? Our strongest wolves can't even get out of them." "Well the better question is how long have I been out?" I asked. "Not going to answer any of my questions. You should be happy that we didn't leave you to die." The alpha snarled back. I just laughed, "You want to go." I growled out. "Alpha, she did take all but one hunter down plus most of the rogues." The guy that growled at me when I walked in said. "What's your point Liam?" The annoyed alpha asked. "Well maybe talk to her with respect then she will tell us what we need to know." Liam suggested. At this point the Alpha was really annoyed. I rolled my eyes and got up and walked to the door. I placed my hand on the knob of the door and then the room started to spin and my side was throbbing. After that my vision went black. This time when I woke up I was laying on a cold concrete floor. I found a wall and slowly sat up and leaned against it. The pain was slightly better than before. I looked around and saw that I was in a cell, the smell around me was horrible. It smelled like mold, blood, and waste. I wanted to puke because it smelled really bad. I heard footsteps coming downstairs and I closed my eyes to focus on who was coming. Once the footsteps stopped in front of my cell I smelled who it was and it was Liam. I didn't open my eyes and I asked, "What do you want Liam?" I heard the cell door open and close and that's when I opened my eyes. I saw Liam standing inside the cell with a tray of food and medical supplies. "I came to give you some food and patch your wound. Can you please lay down and lift up your shirt?" He asked. I looked him in his eyes and found that they held worry and kindness. I stood up and took off my shirt, thankfully I still had my sports bra on. I walked over to the disgusting bed and laid down on my stomach. He walked over to me and took the old bandage off. “Why do you have so many scares?” I took a deep breath and explained, “I might be an alpha, but my old pack and family believed I was a weak link. They tortured me, abused me, starved me, and burned me. Anything that they could think about doing to me they did. After my parents died the Beta was moved to alpha. While I was the actual alpha, everyone listened to him and not me. So when I was able to shift I ran away. My wolf and I learned how to fight and protect ourselves. We improved on our skills as the time went by. We can pinpoint where the enemy is only if we listen for them. We can sneak up on people if we have to. I ended up becoming an assassin and learned more about stealth. Little did I know my old pack hired rogues and hunters to take me down. That's why your pack got attacked. They were looking for me. I hid my scent and my power to keep me safe. That's why you guys didn't sense me until your rounds and you didn't know about me being an alpha till I commanded you.” “That's sad I’m sorry you had to go through that. I’m sorry I forgot to ask you your name.” he sounded very sincere. “My name is Lily. My past is in the past. My past was horrible, but it shaped me into a really good assassin that I have become and I’m thankful for that.” “All done, thank you for telling me that. If you were pondering if I'm the beta of this pack, yes I am.” I smiled at him and said, “Thanks for changing my bandage.” “Well that was a touching story. But why would a pack turn on their alpha like that?” The alpha asked. I stood up and showed him my back. Then after I was sure he looked at it I turned around and showed him my front. My scars were from being burned, to being sliced with a silver knife (silver burns werewolves) and I was beaten. “I don't know, maybe you should go and ask the Dark claw pack that!” I yelled back. I put my shirt back on and Liam walked out of the cell. Me on the other hand had to stay inside the cell. The door closed and I couldn't help it but I ended up rolling my eyes at them. “Wait, Dark claw pack was your pack? Rumor has it that the alpha's child was too weak to take over the role and they gave it to the beta.” The alpha said. I couldn't hold back my growl, because my old pack made a dumb rumor to cover up the deal that the alpha made with the beta. I turned around so that my back was facing them and moved my hair away from my neck to show my mark. True alpha marks are given to the first born that will become the next alpha of the pack. My mark was a paw print on the back of the neck. I heard Liam say, “The mark of a true alpha.” I let my hair down and moved my shirt up a little bit to show my burned mark that the beta gave me. “The new alpha took a hot iron rod and marked me as a slave to the pack. He made sure that everyone listened to him.” I then pulled down the collar of my shirt to show the other mark. This mark said, 'worthless'. “My father carved this with a silver knife, while he carved it he said, ‘your not fit to be alpha. You are a dumb useless girl. The only thing you would be good at is being a slave and to have children for the next alpha. More and likely will be the beta.’ After they died the beta decided to have fun with me. Everyday until I escaped. Needless to say the small amounts of wolfsbane he gave me I couldn't get pregnant and I was becoming immune to it.” After recounting everything that I went through I couldn't take it anymore. I ended up sinking to the floor on my knees crying. I was so caught up in crying I didn't hear the cell door open or the alpha walking in, until he pulled me to his chest. “I’m sorry for treating you like a rogue. I didn't see the alpha mark on you or your wolf. My name is Calvin.” he was talking softly in my ear. “I hid my scent, my power, and my mark because if anyone knew I was a female alpha without a pack they would try to claim me.” I said once I got my crying under control. I don't know why but I felt extremely tired. I ended up closing my eyes and fell asleep in Calvins arms.
