Chapter one CHAINED BY THE MOON
---
In the age when kingdoms were ruled by claw and crown when the moon was law and bloodlines meant everything the Ironfang Pack stood above all others.
Their lands were ancient, carved from stone and shadow.
Their traditions were older than memory itself, written in blood and upheld by fear. And their Alpha, Kaden Blackclaw, was as merciless as the storms that tore down from the northern mountains.
Kaden was arrogance made flesh.
Tall and broad-shouldered, silver-streaked black hair falling around a face carved in dominance, he ruled with an authority that never wavered. His eyes molten gold had never learned softness. Weakness disgusted him.
Mercy bored him.
Omegas, especially slave omegas, were tools. Nothing more.
Born to kneel
Born to breed
Born to obey.
Born to break.
That belief shattered the night Skyler was dragged into his hall.
She was thin from hunger, wrists bruised and raw from iron chains.
Pale hair fell messily over her face, and when she lifted her head, her eyes were the color of winter skies quiet, distant, too calm for someone who had been owned.
She was forced to her knees before the throne.
A slave omega taken from a fallen border pack. Meant to be sold.
Or punished.
Or forgotten.
The moment Kaden’s gaze landed on her
The world stopped.
"Mate."
The word slammed through his skull with the force of thunder.
Kaden’s breath hitched. His wolf Kane surged violently.
"Impossible", Kaden thought. "Absolutely impossible."
"It is her," Kane growled inside his mind, voice deep and ancient.
"Our mate. Our love, Ours."
Kaden’s jaw tightened. His grip on the armrest of the throne cracked the stone.
"She is nothing", Kaden snapped back." A slave. An omega. Beneath us."
Kane snarled.
"The moon does not choose beneath."
The hall murmured as the Alpha rose slowly to his feet.
Outwardly, he was calm. Cold, Unmoved.
Inside, he was burning.
“Take her to the servants’ quarters,” Kaden ordered sharply. “She belongs to the pack now.”
Skyler flinched not at the words, but at the way his eyes held her. Not cruel, Not kind.
Hungry.
And inside Skyler, something stirred.
For years, Sai had been silent.
Dormant. Hidden.
But the moment Kaden stood, the moment his gaze locked onto her
Sai (skyler's wolf) woke up.
"Mate that is him", Sai whispered in Skyler’s mind, her voice soft and ancient.
"The one bound to us."
Skyler’s heart pounded painfully. "No, He is an Alpha. He is danger."
"He is also fate", Sai replied.
Skyler lowered her head quickly, afraid he could see the truth burning in her eyes.
The guard take Skyler to servant quaters
From that night onward, Kaden watched her.
Too closely.
He noticed everything.
The way her scent softened near him.
The way her hands trembled but never begged.
The way she obeyed without breaking.
He punished her for small mistakes but never cruelly enough to scar.
He protected her from warriors but always with anger in his voice.
The pack whispered.
Skyler hated him for it.
Hated the way her wolf stirred when he entered a room.
Hated the warmth that spread when his shadow fell over her.
Hated the way his voice made her feel safe against her will.
"He sees us, "Sai whispered.
"He is fighting it."
Skyler clenched her fists. "I don’t want him."
"you don't need to", Sai said gently.
"but he is already belong to us" . Skyler fumbles.
And Kaden
Kaden hated himself most of all.
For wanting what he believed she did not deserve.
For craving the very omega he had sworn was beneath him.
For realizing, slowly and painfully, that Skyler’s quiet strength—her defiance hidden behind lowered eyes—was reshaping him more surely than any war ever had.
one evening kaden stand on balcony looking at Skyler who was cleaning outside the servant quarters
"You are weakening", Kaden said.
"I am changing", Kane answered.
"She will break you." kaden says
"She will save me." Kane replies
Kaden went silent.
Because even the wolf knew the truth.
Mates were not chosen by rank.
Not by power.
Not by pride.
They were chosen by the moon.
And the moon had already chained them together
whether they were ready to accept it or not. 🌙🐺
