His Greatest Possession

Episode Five

Two weeks had passed since they went to the private island. A lot of things had happened but Ginrre was still being possessive of her.  Sometimes she wondered why he was like that. He followed her everywhere  to make sure she did not talk to another man.  She kept sending flowers every day and fetching her from work when it was only two blocks away from her house.  Everytime she complained about him he would just give her a smile to make her lose focus. 

She took a flight to New Jersey to visit her parents.  Her mom kept calling her for her to visit them. 

He had been calling her since she had arrived. She ignored him, he kept acting like she was her girlfriend. In fact, he did not court or ask anything for approval. He just showed up and acted like he owned her after the incident at Ambrey's grandparents' anniversary. 

( phone ringing) 

There were already 26 missed calls. The phone kept ringing until Ezye lost her patience and  reached it from her bed. Hitting the answer button, she waited for him to speak. 

"Why do you keep ignoring my calls? Where were you?" she sighed as she calmed herself. 

" I was having my rest. I visited my parents here in New Jersey," she answered. She was still sleepy. 

" You did not tell me you were going to visit your parents. I could've just come with you. " she heard some paper dropping in the line. 

" My apologies. I forgot. Are you working? " she asked him, since she noticed he kept moving in the line. 

"Just some paperwork love. My secretary was on leave. So I need to gather this document." she nodded her head as a sign of agreeing. 

" I did not know you were that considerate to approve your secretary for leave," she said. 

He was known to be a workaholic billionaire. He rarely gives holidays to his employees.  He was cold and serious but he talked normally to her. The only thing that Ezye did not like was him being so possessive of her. 

She had never had a boyfriend before and if ever she would ever have one, she wanted him to be kind and sweet. 

" His wife was giving birth so he needed to be there," he answered. 

She did not utter a word. She waited for him to speak again. Somehow she liked it when he talked to her. She did not understand herself. 

"Are you still there?" She spoke  when she did not hear anything. 

"Yes. I'm signing the last document. Take some rest. I will be there later." he said and ended the call, leaving her dumbfounded. She did not hear the last sentence since the phone dropped on the pillow. Taking a deep breath, she put her phone on the table and she slept again. 

She was deep asleep when she heard a soft knock on  her door. 

Rubbing her eyes, she got up lazily and opened them. Her mother, with a broad smile, hugged her, which made her confused. 

"You did not tell me that you already had a boyfriend!" her mom excitedly spoke while hugging her. 

" What are you talking about mom?" she asked and let go of the hug. 

Her mom held her hand and they walked to the living room. There she saw a man's back talking to her father. That figure looked familiar, her heart beat faster when he turned his back and Ginrre was standing next to her father smiling.  

"What are you doing here?" she surprisingly asked. 

"Visiting you and your parents. I told you earlier that I would follow you here." He said while giving her his smile. 

She couldn't process anything. How could this man just fly from New York to New Jersey? She did not notice that her parents had already left them in the living room.  Ginrre hugged her and kissed her forehead, which made her lose her world and beat her heart in race. 

"So, how long have you guys been dating? Ezye did not mention you before." Her father - Glenn Brentdy suspiciously asked. Ezye's hands tensely  tapped on her thigh below the table. She didn't expect her dad would be asking that question. 

"We met at her friend's grandparents' anniversary, sir. That was the last two weeks, " Ginrre calmly answered while eating.  She calmed herself and kept nodding down in the conversation. She did not utter some words, she might say something that would trigger the tension. 

" Well, that was sweet. Ezye's dad and I unexpectedly met at the train station before. I bumped into him and dropped my documents. That's when I saw him fetching the papers for me." She looked at her mom who was reminiscing about their first meeting.

She smiled and continued to eat, without noticing Ginrre had been glancing at her since the start of the dinner.  He sat next to her mom and Ezye sat next to her dad, since her father made the sitting arrangements. 

The dinner had finished peacefully. She couldn't shake off how calm and gentle Ginrre was. She knew him for being hot tempered and impatient, but he acted differently earlier. 

' Can't really understand him sometimes.' she uttered while washing the dishes. She volunteered to do the dishes for them to have a conversation with Gin. She knows her parents, they are kind but also strict when it comes to her. 

She was wiping the clean plates with a towel when someone hugged her from behind. Her heart starts to beat faster when she smells the familiar scent of Ginrre.  

"Do you want some help?" he asked while laying his head on her neck, smelling her scent. 

"N-no. I can handle this. Are you done talking with them?" Trying to calm herself, she took the last plate. It gives her  an uncomfortable feeling when he does that. 

"Yeah. They were so protective of you. I got a lot of threats from your dad" he chuckled while he let go of the hug and leaned on the wall, watching his woman clean the sink. 

" I know.  That's why I love them so much" she smiled, drowning in his smile. 

"Any plans for tonight?" He took off his jacket and covered Ezye's back. She was wearing a peach-colored dress in thin fabric. 

Looking up at his face, she saw him staring at her. She nearly forgot how to breathe just looking at his handsome face. Catching her breath, she looked away and tucked the loose strands of her hair.  

" We can watch movies or watch stars on the rooftop," she excitedly suggested.

  She loved to watch stars when she was younger. It gives her solace in peace. She used to watch it before, together with her parents, but they stopped doing it when she started working from another place. Sometimes she misses it but things won't happen twice again and she understands the situation. 

"Let's go watch the stars. I know you love watching them." Ginrre  winked at her while giving his sweetest smile. Holding her hands, they started walking upstairs while she was still stunned, losing her focus. 

After grabbing a coverlet and two pillows, Gin headed to the rooftop and organised it.  Ezye was preparing a night snack in case they were hungry.  The night was filled with a cold breeze,  the city's light spread over the area, which gave a mesmerizing scenery of the night. 

"All done?" He looked behind and saw her carrying some popcorn and chocolates. 

"Yes. We will need a blanket, the night breeze will make you cold." He answered as he took the midnight snacks. 

"Hang on. I will grab some in my room." She started to walk when he held her hand. Looking back confusingly, she looked at him. 

"Let me come," he stated, and they  both walked downstairs. 

She was on her last step when she missed the next staircase, which caused her to lose balance.  Ginrre suddenly pulled her, which also made him lose his balance. He hugged her and covered his hand with hers when they both fell to the floor. She was shocked by the incident. 

"I'm sorry. Are you hurt?"  She nervously checked him.  

"I'm okay, love. Are you hurt?" Ginrre inspected her from head to toe and helped her stand up.   

" Yeah. Thank you for saving me." she uttered shyly. He kissed her forehead and hugged her tight. She was speechless for a moment.  There was no time she could not be stunned by him. 

" Next time be careful please." he whispered and kissed her head.  He was tall where Ezye's height was just on his shoulders. She nodded silently and held his hand.  She could see how sincere and scared he was for her. Somehow, she felt bad for being a careless one.  After taking the blanket, they both headed back upstairs and watched the stars together.   They were sitting in the coverlet with blankets covering their legs.   Ezye looked up at the cleared sky, she gasped when it was full of stars. 

"Beautiful" she uttered while staring at them. Gin was staring at her, being mesmerized by how stunned she was by the stars. 

"Yeah. Beautiful" he muttered while looking at her. Her hair was blown by the breeze which made him fix it.  She looked at him and saw him staring intently at her.  She gulped when he slowly reached her  while he cupped his hands to her face and kissed her. Closing her eyes, she responded to the kiss and put her hands to his neck.  They both shared a passionate kiss for the second time when they both lost their own worlds.
