His Greatest Possession

Episode Nine

The quietness took the whole time while he drove her back home. Ezye woke up after she got a quick nap. Afterwards, they didn't exchange words with each other. Gin was also in deep thoughts and so she was. She was startled when her phone rang. Ambrey unexpectedly called. It's been a month since they last talked. It's not new for them, since they were still best friends despite lacking communication. They understood their busy life.

He glanced at her after she pressed the answer button. Her brows arched when she heard her sobbing in the line.

" What's the matter, Brey? Everything alright?" she asked worriedly. She kept sobbing until she burst out and cried.

( ' They were gone, Ezye. W-what I'm going to d-do n-now? H-how I'm supposed to continue to live.') Her heartbeat was in race, she had a feeling something happened.

" Brey? Where are you now? I will come to you." She was panicking and at the same time nervous.

(' Scott P-private H-hospital ') Ambrey lifelessly uttered. Ezye's heart aches upon hearing her dull voice.

"Take me to Scott Private Hospital, please." She pleaded to him as she composed herself. Her best friend needed her now and she hated her mind for thinking something bad had happened.

Ginrre took a U-turn with his brows being furrowed. He didn't know what was going on but he stayed silent along the way.

After arriving at the hospital, she headed directly inside where Ambrey texted the room number. Her hands were trembling upon holding the doorknob. She could hear her best friend still crying inside. Her breath stopped after witnessing Ambrey hugging both of her parents, already lifeless. They were two nurses who were cleaning the blood from their wounds and bruises. She ran to her and hugged her tightly, caressing her back.

"T-they were g-gone, Ezye. Mom and dad have already left me alone" she cried out while Ezye was hugging her.

"I-im sorry, B-brey. Please be strong enough to accept this. I'm here." She wiped Ambrey's tears and tied her hair. Her face and eyes were swollen already from crying. She closed her eyes and quietly wiped her own tears. She didn't expect this incident to happen. Her heart ached for her best friend. She knew things like this would happen, but she couldn't deny that it was such a painful burden to endure.

They stayed for a long period of time hugging Ambrey while crying and comforting her. She was relieved when she saw her falling asleep. She fell asleep tired and crying. After drinking the bottle of water from the table, she covers Ambrey with a blanket on the couch sleeping. Mrs. and Mr. Guzman- Ambrey's grandparents entered the room with their sad faces. Mrs. Guzman hugged her when she saw her. The old woman's eyes were also red from crying.

"We never expected they would get into an accident. I'm worried about Ambrey." Mrs. Guzman uttered painfully. Ezye couldn't do anything but pat her back.

"No one expected this grandma, things happened unexpectedly." she spoke, trying not to break her voice. She was also close to Ambrey's family. They knew both of them were best friends. She was also heartbroken about what happened.

"That's enough. They will take the bodies now and cremate them. Ezye Hija, could you buy something for us to eat while we wait for them to finish?" Mr. Guzman spoke. She nodded her head and made her way outside. She was surprised to see Ginrre sitting on the chair, he was starting to get sleepy as he tried to fight not to.

" Gin? I thought you had already left? " she muttered while heading in his direction. His eyes clearly opened when he saw her. He also looked exhausted.

"I didn't know what was going on, so I waited. Everything good?" He asked and grabbed her for a hug.

"Ambrey's parents got into an accident. They were declared dead on their arrival." she spoke, trying to hold her tears. She couldn't help but feel bad for her parents and for her best friend.

"Things happen. It will pass. I don't know how long it takes, but it will. Where are you going? Are you going home now?" Although she was devastated at the moment, her heart beat abnormally when he planted kisses on her forehead.

"N-no. I'm going to buy food for them." She looked away and started to walk. Her face was tomato red at the moment, she always has that kind of reaction every time Gin does it.

"I'll come with you. You also need to eat. You look pale. You need to drink a lot of water. I informed Red about what had happened. He might be here sooner." Ginrre explained while he held her hands. They both went to the restaurant near the Hospital.

"Are things between him and Ambrey good?" Curiously she questioned. Ambrey dated a lot of men before and had never been in a commitment.

"I don't know. They seem to enjoy each other. Why don't you ask something about us ?" Ginrre made a smile. He teased her, he loved it when her face turned red. And he noticed her reaction every time he was close or did something sweet to her.

"You talked too much." Ezye let go of his hands and walked fast from him. He chuckled as he followed her directions.

"That was fast." She murmured when they arrived back inside. Red was already next to Ambrey, caressing her back. She was still sleeping, probably being tired from what happened.

Red saw them and just nodded her head. Gin stood silent, leaning on the wall.

" Where are Mr. and Mrs. Guzman?" she asked when she noticed their absence. After putting the food they bought, she sat on the chair and looked at Ambrey, who was sleeping.

"Mrs. Guzman said they would wait for us in their mansion. They need to settle things first. They had already taken Ambrey's parents' ashes. I arrived 3 minutes ago, I was just waiting for both of you. " Red explained. ' Is he worried or just acting?' she thought while watching him carrying Ambrey as he walked outside.

Gin took his hand and they followed Red. They headed to the parking lot. Red had his own car. After putting Ambrey in the front seat, he got inside and started to drive. Ginrre started the engine. After they both got inside the car, he glanced at her and started to turn the steering wheel.

Her mind was blank the whole time. She did not notice it was already 7 pm when they arrived at Guzman's place. Ambrey woke up and started to mourn again. She wanted to comfort her but Red was already with her, comforting. She sighed and walked inside with Gin next to her. She didn't know how her best friend would accept it but she knew she was strong enough to handle this. It will take years to accept, and more years to move forward. But she will always stay by her side, no matter what.
