A week had passed since Ambrey's parents were gone. She stopped crying, but she had not uttered any words since then. She locked herself in her room and stayed the whole time mourning for her parents' death. She refuses to see anyone, not her grandparents nor her best friend, Ezye. They gave her the time she needed to cope with what had happened. Ezye was in her coffee shop, trying to focus on work. Ambrey will show up by herself if she is ready to talk to her. She knows her too much. Knowing her best friend was mourning and depressed, she also felt sad. She couldn't imagine how miserable she would feel if it happened to her parents. And she always prayed for her parents' safety and good health, every night before she slept. "Ms. Ezye, someone asked for your presence outside." one of her waitresses informed her. She stood up after putting the pen in her hand. She headed outside after closing the door. She was stuck for a moment when she saw Pette sitting next to the table near the wall. She never expected she'd see him this soon. She didn't know how to approach him. He changed a lot, from his looks to his appearance. The 16-year-old Pette she knew before was far from what he is now. She took a deep sigh and walked towards him. His face lifted up and filled with excitement when he saw her walking towards him. "Zy! You changed a lot! God, you are so gorgeous now. How are you?" He exclaimed and was about to hug her but he stopped when he saw her being uncomfortable. "Ah right. Forgive my actions. I was just excited," he uttered again while he looked at her. "Don't worry about it. Let's sit. How are you doing now?" Ezye tried to ease the tension. She looked at him, looking at her intently while she smiled. "You look bothered. Did I visit you at the wrong time?" Pette asked. "No. That's fine. When did you get here in New York?`` She tried to feel comfortable as they continued to talk. "Last two weeks. I sent some flowers for you. Did you somehow receive it?" He answered while sipping the latte coffee he ordered. "Right, yeah. It's been a busy week really so I did not manage to reach out to you." Ezye answered, she had not contacted him for about 10 years, how she is supposed to do it. "It's okay. I understand. It's been a decade, right? You grow into a beautiful and fine lady, Zy. I heard this is your coffee shop. I thought you were gonna take artworks? You were so good at sketching when we were younger," Pette uttered as he remembered their childhood. He smiled at her when she chuckled, remembering it also. She was good at sketching when she was younger. That's her natural skill. She used to sketch a picture of them before. After they parted, she hid it in a box where all the things they shared and memories were also there. She couldn't remember where it is now, probably to her parents' house. "Well, things happened unexpectedly, I guess. I stopped sketching a long time ago already. And took culinary arts, but it's also not related to what I do now," she explained. She couldn't deny the fact that they were childhood best friends before and it would stay like that forever. It's in the past and they are all grown up already. Maybe she felt bad about them, leaving her alone, but she was still young and couldn't understand the complications of life. "I guess I owe you an apology for leaving before without informing you. I couldn't do a thing also, dad wanted to take me with him. My mom wasn't planning on taking me with her. I'm sorry, Zy." Pette apologised. "It's okay, Pette. We were both young at that time. Let's just move forward. What about Ava?" she asked when she remembered her. Pette's brow arched. "I thought you guys were hanging out? I met Ava in Paris, she said she had already visited you?" He confusingly answered. "No. I never saw her here. Why would she say that?" she never expected Ava would lie about it. "I forgot to mention it. Ava really changed a lot. She became more spoiled and bold. I don't know what happened to her. I asked her why but I got nothing. We met three times before I flew here. " Pette explained. Ava was the sweetest among them. Ezye couldn't understand why she became like that. And was she here before? Why did she not visit her? Her thoughts were occupied when Pette's expression became serious. " Nothing bad happened to you, right? You seemed not mentally fine." He questioned seriously. She fakes a laugh before composing herself. She was busy with work and she kept thinking about Ambrey. Also, Gin kept bothering her and was running through her mind. She really needed a break from it. " I'm fine. It's just a busy week really. How long will you stay here in New York?" She changed the topic. She doesn't want to talk about anything on her mind now. A lot of things had happened and she couldn't throw them away with just one try. "I planned to stay longer. I will reach out to Ava soon for us to talk. I know you missed her." he answered. "By the way, what did you take? Did you go on being a doctor?" she remembered. He used to tell his dream profession before, so he could take care of her and Ava when they got sick. He was the protective one before, since he was the only boy. "I am a doctor now, Zy. Finally, I can take care of you and Ava when you guys get sick," he uttered and laughed. Ezye laughed together with him, that was a silly memory. "I'm proud of you, Pette. Did Ava proceed with modeling? She loved to model when we were still young." Ava was not a shy one, she was sweet but also had confidence about her passion. "Yes. She started to become popular in Paris. I can't even believe she did it." Pette proudly said. She was the different one among them. She dreamed of being a fashion designer before, so she could make dresses for Ava to model. She has a lot of sketches of different types and styles of dresses. She was the shy one. Although she was beautiful, she couldn't be like Ava, who had the confidence. "That's really good. You guys became what you dreamed before. I'm proud." she uttered and smiled. She did not feel envy or sadness, she was glad they succeeded. And she was also pleased and happy with what she had achieved now. There's no room for regrets. When you love what you do, then go for it. She was spacing out when Pette tapped her shoulder. She saw him sliding his phone into his pocket. "As much as I want to talk to you, but I can't now. I will visit you next time together with Ava, I promised. Something came up." Pette explained, feeling bad about leaving. He had no choice, his presence was needed for the hospital he had just bought. Yes, he is that rich now. He wanted to surprise Ezye by buying Hospital in New York, so anything she would need in case of sickness would all be free of charge to her. "I understand. I also need to finish some documents now. You go ahead, I'll see you guys next time. Thank you for visiting me." Ezye uttered. Pette hugged her this time. She did not complain since she also missed her childhood best friend. "Thank you, Zy. Take care of yourself. I'll come back without you expecting it." he said, and started to walk outside. She just smiled and looked at his back while he got inside of his car. When Pette started to drive she headed back to her office. It was 10 in the morning, she would finish signing the document and would call her parents afterwards.
