Chapter 5

1100 Words
Alan Trisdale Tak wrapped up the interview and walked back to his office, he shut the door to his large office and strolled over to his desk, settling down on the swiveling chair, he loosened his tie and leaned back gently on his back as he closed his eyes slowly, but before any thoughts could cross his mind, he heard a knock on the door and in the direction of his door. Alan Trisdale Tak sat up and straightened his sitting position. “Yes, come in.” He called out and gently opened the files on his desk. The office door was pushed open. ”Mr Alan Trisdale Tak, here is some documents that need your signature.” Mr Raid, Alan Trisdale Tak’s secretary, who had just walked in told him as he got close to Mr Alan Trisdale Tak’s desk. “You may leave it here,” Alan pointed at the side next to his desk and Mr Raid obediently placed it down. “What is my schedule for the day?” Alan Trisdale Tak asked, taking out one of the files his secretary had just placed on his desk. “Today is your official meeting with the new project director, you would be meeting him at ten this morning,” Mr Raid informed him. “You will be having lunch with the director of Dunamis technology, and lastly, Mr Daniel will be coming over to brief us on the new software program he proposed of our company at three in the afternoon.” Mr Raid finished. Alan Trisdale Tak drew a sharp breath. “I see today is packed with activities,” He glanced up at Mr Raid. “You should go prepare my meeting with the new project director, the hours to ten are not so far.” “Sure, I will Mr Alan Trisdale Tak,” Mr Raid told him and turned to leave but stopped. “Sir,” He called out, turning around to face Mr Alan Trisdale Tak again. “We finished the screening of the interview and here are the names of the people who passed the interview.” Alan Trisdale Tak paused for a while, it had skipped his mind for a moment and, now being reminded of the interview, got his attention back to it. “Let’s see the names you got.” He told him and Mr Raid handed the file in his hand over to Mr Alan Trisdale Tak’s stretched out hand and Mr Alan Trisdale Tak flipped the file open. “There is a total of five names sir…” “But we need four.” Alan Trisdale Tak glanced up at Mr Raid with the corner of his eyebrows raised. “Why pick for names when you can choose just four?” He asked exhaling sharply, he knew Mr Raid never makes this mistake, neither does he lack the skills to do a proper job and this only got him curious as to the reason he did what he did. “We should just go with the first four.” Alan Trisdale Tak added immediately without looking down at the file again, ”Sir, you were at the interview hall as an interviewer,” Mr Raid started speaking, and Alan glanced up at him without putting down his file. Mr Raid saw the corner of his brows raised and knew he had to go on with whatever he had to say now, getting his boss's attention. “The first three we chose, we were sure of them, but we had some difficulty choosing the last two on the list.” Alan Trisdale Tak’s lips were curled up in wonder, his forehead furrowed. “Mr Raid, what made you have such difficulty in choosing the last two? You were at the interview hall, so why do you suddenly have such confusion?” He questioned as he opened up the file again, but his eyes were still on Mr Raid. “They both did well in the final evaluation and…” “Are you saying we should hire more employees than we budgeted?” Alan Trisdale Tak cuts him off and Mr Raid swallowed hard. “Not exactly, Sir, but…” Alan Trisdale Tak closed his eyes momentarily. “Raid, I have a lot of work to do rather than debate who should work with us between the last two people you aren’t sure of, so why don’t you call the first four, the last one is just unlucky to be on the list.” He told him and Mr Raid swallowed hard. “Okay Sir, I will do as told.” He stretched out his hand to receive the file and Alan Trisdale Tak glanced down at the file and was about to shut it close but paused when he saw the last name on the list. “Eugenia Clark?” He muttered softly as the name rang a bell in his mind, followed by the flashback of the bus earlier today where Eugenia had been rude to him. ‘You, you are arrogant, rude and mean,’ He recalled her words on the bus and shook his head at the manner she had spoken and also the shocked expression on her face when she had seen him in the interview hall. Matching her rude attitude on the bus and her serious and respectful attitude on the bus made him shake his head and the corner of his lips was raised slightly. ‘What was she, an unstable person, how can she switch characters so quickly?’ He thought to himself as he glanced down at her name. “Sir?” Mr Raid called out again and Alan Trisdale Tak glanced up at him and saw his stretched-out hand. “Is there a problem?” Mr Raid questioned, seeing Alan’s expression. Alan Trisdale Tak glanced at the file and then shook his head. “No, you may leave now.” He told him and handed the file back to Mr Raid. “Call the first four, the last name on the list is the last because that person might give this company some headache which I don’t want.” He told Mr Raid who received the file. “Okay Sir, I will go arrange for your meeting and also send the message to the first four who passed the evaluation.” He told him and walked out of the office. Alan Trisdale Tak took out one of the files that had been placed on his desk and carefully glanced through it as he finished and paste his stamp on it.
