Chapter 4

It was hard to hope even for a little, just one mistake had gotten her to this mess and now the words she had practiced to say when she was asked a question was drowning down.

Why does it have to be this man and who the heck was he to be right here at this moment when she has her hopes high to get this job? Will she be accepted or should she give up and leave?

Eugenia watched the man exhale softly and glanced down at the file in front of him. “You are Eugenia Clark,” He looked at her resume and then up at her as she swallowed hard.

“Yes, that’s my name.” Eugenia's voice was hoarse even when she tried as much as possible to clear her throat and not sound affected by what she had discovered.

“Welcome to the interview, my name is Alan Trisdale Tak and these are Andrew and Oliver and we will be doing the interview with you today and we can ask you a number of questions.” He looked directly to her and Eugenia had to placed her sweaty palm on her lap as she tried to hold his gaze but gently look down when she noticed the coldness in his eyes as she mouthed some words to herself before lifting her head again.

Alan Trisdale Tak glanced down at her file as he could see that she graduated from a prestigious technology university and had past the interview examination and first evaluation. He glanced up from her file and then closed it.

“I will be asking you a number of questions for the suitability for the role,” Alan Trisdale Tak exhaled softly. “So, if we can start with you telling me about yourself that would be great,” He raised the corner of his brows and Eugenia swallowed hard, she has prepared to answer these questions so she doesn’t have to be timid right now, she knew what she was here for and has to gather her thoughts and focus.

“Yes…” Her voice came out hoarse but she quickly straightens up. “Over the years I have built up a diverse range of skills and qualities that I believe that are a match for this job description.” She didn’t maintain eye contact with Alan as she tried to concentrate more on the other two interviewers since their eyes were not so cold as Alan’s eyes.

“I am very positive and I love being at work, I have goals outside my work which means I have to perform to a high standard when I am in my job in other to achieve those goals, I am good at organizing and planning my work so you can give me loads of work and I will be done on time and to a necessary standard, I am happy working on my own but I love working as a team and I am a very fast learner and if you give me a job I will learn it quickly and you have my word if you hire me in this position,” She looked at Alan. “I will perform to a high standard and help you achieve your financial and commercial objectives.

Alan’s lips turned up to his left and he looked at Eugenia with a cold smile and she glanced at the other interviewers and saw them smile at her. “That’s great.” Oliver said with a smile. “Can you tell us a little bit why you want to work here with us?” He asked her.

Eugenia smiled as she looked directly to him since he seems to be the friendly and happy one who shows positive vibes and what more, looking at him was better than looking at Alan although she wonders why he has to be here, although she knew most companies invite interviewers from other branches to come interview employee who are seeking jobs.

Eugenia freely answered all the questions asked her and she smiled when she looked at Alan to see him with a hint of smile on his lips.

“Why should we hire you?” Alan Trisdale Tak asked her just in the moment Eugenia thought she was getting the job, and she should be expecting this question but the way it sounded when Alan asked her was as if he was not willing to let her get the job.

“I believe you should hire me because not only do I have the experience and skills that are a match for this job, the experience I have gained means that I will get up and running in this role very quickly and that means you can leave me to do the thing which reduces the pressure on you since you will be too busy watching me all the time and I am a fast learner and I am loyal and I am honest and I act with integrity so I will represent your company in a positive manner.” She smiled happily since she felt she has answered properly.

Eugenia walked out of the company after the interview and exhaled sharply as she drew a sharp breath. “How can he possible show up right there?” She turned and looked at the company building with furrowed brows.

“Eugenia, let’s just stay positive,” She pet talked herself. “You did a good job Eugenia, you answered all the questions rightly and Mr Oliver and Mr Andrew smiled and that should be something great,” She clenched her bag that was hung over her shoulder. “It can’t be that I would get rejected over something so little, no, I think I will do just fine.” She smiled and turned to walk away but halt in her track.

“It can’t be a coincidence that he showed up at the interview as an interviewer…” Eugenia raised her eyes to the left and recalled Alan Trisdale Tak walking into the black flashy car that was opened by a man in black suit who happened to show him some respect, he appeared wealthy and that only meant one thing.

Eugenia quickly turned around just in time to see a man who she has seen walk into the interview hall as soon as she was done walking out, she ran over to him. “Umm… excuse me,” Eugenia called out and he stopped to look at her.

“Yes, how may I help you?” He waited for whatever she has to say.

“I noticed you also came for the interview,” Eugenia paused her lips when she noticed the curious lips on the man who nods his head in response to her question. “I want to know if you knew who the interviewer who interviewed us was.” She pressed her lips together.

“There were three men there who interviewed us, which one are you talking about?”

“Oh, I meant the one who sat in the middle, his name is Alan Trisdale Tak.” She asked and braced herself. “He is not a staff in this company, right?” She raised the corner of her brows while she prayed that her thoughts were correct.

“You are right, he is not a staff of the company.” The man responded and Eugenia smiled broadly exhaling sharply after drawing a breath of relief. “Only that he is the CEO of the company.” The man announced as he pointed up at the company at the large nameplate on it.

Eugenia blinked as she turned quickly in the direction he has pointed to see a huge name written on the nameplate. “TAK ENTERPRISE INC.” and her air got caught.

“Don’t tell me you don’t even know the name of the company you applied for, how do you intend passing the interview.” The man muttered this and walked away and Eugenia wiped her eyes with the back of her hand countless times to make sure she wasn’t dreaming but then she recalled Alan’s name and matched it with the name of the company.

“I am doomed!” She voiced out as she clasped her two hands on her head.
