Ellie POV
By the time we finished fighting, I was starving. I turned to look at the picnic and saw another car pull up.
I let out a frustrated sigh as Dane nudged me.
3 girls hoped out of the car.
They called out almost in unison. "Hey, Dustin."
Yep, because no one else is here. I side eyed Dusty and Dane. Dusty just shrugged his shoulders, and Dane started to bat his eyelashes at Dusty and make smooching sounds with his lips. Dusty grabbed Dane by the shoulders and threw him back into the water before getting him in a headlock.
"Come on, let's eat." I laughed as I strolled out the water, and they both eventually followed.
We all sat around together, eating and talking. Dusty got caught between Bec and Trish, both girls giggly and invading his personal space. They may as well sit on him, seeing as they were an inch away from doing it anyway.
We all went for a last swim. Trish, Lory, and Bec are all wearing quite small bikinis that, well, really wouldn't be useful to swim in. They were beautiful, don't get me wrong but just so f*****g annoying.
I saw Ben drooling, Lory noticed and playfully pushed him. Carl was struggling to move away from the other two, getting caught in a conversation.
Belle swam up to me "They turn 18 soon and will realise he is not their mate and hopefully leave him alone." She smiled
"There is still an option of a chosen mate" I laughed
Belle snorted "Yes, I can really see that happening, they would be on the bottom of his list"
Nate came over and scooped up Belle, he was quite tall so didn't need to tread water. She nuzzled his neck and a soft happy smile spread across his lips.
"We need to head off B, are you ready?" Nate asked
She nodded
"Zara do you want a lift?" as he turned to me.
"No, I need to do the daily jog, didn't get a chance this morning" I said
"Ofcourse you do" he laughed "I'm sure Carl will be happy to keep you company"
I shrugged as I looked at him and Nqte just shook his head with a chuckle to himself.
"See you tomorrow" I waved them goodbye
I smiled at him and we floated in silence.
Soon it was time to leave, I grabbed my clothes but just popped my tshirt on as I was still damp.
"Carl we can drive you home" said Bec.
"No thankyou, I haven't done a run today so I'll take the opportunity now" he responded.
"Ben?" asked Lory
"Yeah I'll take a lift. See you tomorrow" as he gave me a hug goodbye.
Carl and I started walking back up the path.
"Are you fine if we skip the run?"
"Yeah I'm happy to skip it today" I replied
"How are you feeling about shifting into your wolf?" Carl asked
"I'm not going to lie, I am nervous. Not the thought of the pain but what if I'm just unlucky and don't get one. All my hard work for Beta will be worthless. I will admit I'm strong but a wolf will always have the upper hand." I said.
Carl thought about it for a moment.
"If that was the case then we'll deal with it as it happens. It's unlikely to happen as your natural ability shows you are wolf ready. Otherwise I guess you may have to join the home maker club or be the Luna" He shrugged
Butterflies swarmed my stomach. Did he just say Luna? As in his Luna? I pressed a hand to my stomach quickly. Stop that, I told myself, he's making a joke. Did I get too much sun today and not enough water?
"Join your band of groupies? Pass. You don't need any more of an ego boost" I finally responded.
