Caught out

Ellie POV I woke up with a stretch, aa my arms spread out. I realised the other half of my bed was empty. I sighed as I placed my feet on the floor and made my way to the kitchen. Mum was home and sitting with a coffee in her black dressing gown. "I didn't even realise you came home, I must have been sleeping like the dead," I yawned "I don't think even the dead sleep as deep as you," Mum smirked "Have you seen Dusty?" I asked. "He left just after I got home. He has a lot on his mind and needed a run, " she replied I hid my disappointment, but mum must have caught it because she smiled at me softly. "Anything you want to talk about?" As she raised her coffee to her mouth. "Ugh, it's ridiculous, and I know it's ridiculous, mum. I keep telling myself that I'm just feeling the pressure of it all, but I think I'm having thoughts about Dustin that I shouldn't have. All of yesterday was consumed by them, and it's come from absolutely nothing. He's not doing anything different. See, it's ridiculous. I just need to chill the f**k out and re focus. I don't want to ruin a friendship over having a moment. Plus, I need him there for my first shift in case you get called away for work." I blurted out. Mum put her coffee down and looked at me with her kind hazel eyes. "Firstly, I will not be missing your wolf coming. They will manage a night without me. Secondly, the lead up to our shift does a lot to our bodies preparing us. It can heighten things, make us tired, and make us react quicker to things bothering us. It's starting a base to build on. It can even prepare us to go find our mate. The moon goddess gives us what we can handle and where our path is meant to go. Take a few breaths and try to relax. Things will be clearer in a couple of days." She comforted me "You know I have no patience, Mum," I reminded her Mum laughed. "Just settle my darling, you will be fine." We continued talking about last night and my birthday as I got ready for school. I threw on a blue t-shirt and black sports shorts, then I threw my hair up in a high pony. Marlon honked his horn to let me know he was here to get me to school. Hugging mum goodbye, I flew out the door and climbed into an empty back seat as Dane was in the front this time. "Morning El." Marlon said brightly "Morning. Where's Dust Bunny?" I queried "He said he felt a bit off today, so he was going to stay home and help Luna Reme," Dane answered. I buckled up as we drove off to school. I grabbed my phone and sent him a text asking if he was ok. We got to school, and I still hadn't heard anything, I shrugged it off to him sleeping. I had the usual morning classes with Dane and Marlon, but my favourite lesson was astrology. I love the feeling of a never-ending galaxy and the beauty hidden within. Ever since I could remember, I had a pull to the night sky. My grandfather got me my telescope before he passed, and I cherished it. Thankfully, I had this class with Ginger. She never tried to get my attention in class so I could focus We sat down as our teacher, Mrs Yates, reminded us of our end of year assignments due tomorrow. Mine was well and truly completed, so I didn't need to worry about it tonight.
