“No, let him go!” Kara screamed. “You can either have your pride or save this boy’s life, orphan. The choice is yours,” Morlana proposed, giving her an ultimatum. Dain shook his head, urging her not to yield. “I will never kneel to you,” Kara whispered. Kara’s rejection angered Morlana. She had expected submission. Morlana pulled a jagged knife concealed within her gauntlet and stabbed Dain in the shoulder. Morlana twisted the blade into his ripped flesh, forcing a shrill shriek from him that gave Kara shudders. Doragon released Dain and watched him fall to the ground, writhing. “No!” Kara screamed.
