The Council

Tobias POV

I decided that I would wait until tomorrow to go the department to check out the progress on this case since they think my group is a part of it. After leaving the office with Carlos we headed to the pack house since I had to deal with the elders and their bullshit. I'll just do what Carlos said and tell them that I found her but they'll have to wait to see her since she's a bit shy. Of course she not really shy because I haven't actually found her yet only sensed her presence. Who cares if I'm not telling the whole truth, the elders can suck it. I'm the alpha, not them and I have the final say in anything and everything.

I arrive at the pack house and am greeted right away to Alyssa Davis standing on the steps, she's one of our pack warriors. She and I used to have a thing back in high school but I broke it off with her since I wanted to wait for my mate but obviously that didn't go so well since I'm now 34 and just now found or sensed my mate in the city. I had needs so I kept Alyssa around to satisfy those needs that's all, my heart wasn't in it since I still had hope of finding my mate. And now that I have I'm breaking it off for good with Alyssa.

She walks up to me and tries to hug me but I side step her. She looks up at me since I'm 6'2 and gives me a questioning look.

"What was that for T" she say the nickname she always called me ever since high school. She stands at 5'8, with blue eyes and blond hair. I used to think she was really pretty but with us growing up she changed a whole lot, makes me wonder why I even kept her around. All she does is wear too much makeup and too much perfume and wears outfits that I wouldn't want my daughter to wear. Oh wow I'm already talking about kids when I haven't even met my mate yet.

"I can't do this anymore Alyssa, we're done" I say as I take a step away from her. I look at her as she looks shocked by what I said, as if she thought I would never say something like this to her. What was she thinking I was going to make her my chosen mate???? Hell no, I already told her that this between us was just to satisfy both of our needs nothing more, I was waiting for my mate and now that I found her I don't need to keep this relationship with Alyssa. Yeah it's a d**k move to throw her aside but that's the way it is, the moon goddess paired us all with our other half and sometimes wolves take chosen mates when they never find their soul mate but I had hope and Alyssa just wasn't it for me. I didn't feel the connection only the physical connection we had.

"What do you mean we're done" she asks, "I reflected my goddess given mate for you, I was going to be your Luna" she finished saying looking at me heartbroken. I look at her in shock at what I just heard. Did she just say she rejected her goddess given mate to be with me????? When I told her I was waiting for mine???

"What did you do Alyssa, why would you do that when I told you this" I say pointing my finger back and forth between us, "this was nothing serious and we both agreed to this, I told you I was waiting but I found my mate" I say looking at her in bewilderment.

"I can't believe you would reject your mate for me when I never said you could be my Luna nor would I take you as my chosen mate" "look I'm sorry I kept you in this relationship but this ends here, I found my other half and it wasn't you" I say walking away not wanting to continue this conversation or see the look on her face.

Carlos POV

What the f**k did I just see, yeah I knew my alpha was messing with her but I never would have guessed she reject her mate to be with him when she's not even Luna material. She was a skank in my opinion but Tobias is my best friend since childhood and I knew he was waiting for his mate but was just messing around, it's crazy to think she thought she was going to be Luna. All the rumors spreading around about her f*****g all the unmated wolves was none stop everyday, how Tobias didn't hear or want to hear beats me.

As I walk away with Tobias I hear Alyssa say "you'll regret this" and then she walks away in the opposite direction. I don't think anything of it since I knew she was crazy to begin with, I mean the b***h was hoeing around and thought she would be Luna....the audacity to think that, like what not having slept with a third of the pack and they'll vote for you??? That's not how it works. Not thinking much of that sentence might have been the worst mistake I've made as Beta, but that will come later in the story. I walk back up to Tobias and we head to the meeting room in the pack house to meet with the elders.

Back to Tobias POV

I forgot that during this whole time Carlos was still standing next to me and we got out of the car and Alyssa walked up to me for that whole conversation. I knew he didn't like her I mean a lot of the pack didn't but I just let it slide as we both were using each other. I reach the meeting room and go straight yo my chair at the was of the table and face the shitheads that are on my s**t list.

"I found her" I say proudly for all the members present to hear. The room goes silent after I spoke those there words. Elder Miguel was the first to speak, but the words out of his mouth were not that of congratulatory wishes but of tsk tsk tsk.

"How about I introduce my niece to you Tobias? She's very lovely and would make a great Luna to stand by your side" Elder Miguel insisted.

I growled so violently the whole room shook, I looked at him and asked him to repeat himself.

"I-I-I I said that you should me-e-et my niece, she's very n-n-nice Tobias" he says stuttering.

"That's ALPHA, Miguel, and best for you to remember that next time you address me. And no I don't want to meet her or anyone that you lots want to me to see. If you did not hear I'll say it again but I have found my mate and she will be my Luna. NO ONE ELSE. DO YOU UNDERSTAND." I say using my alpha voice to make my message clear.

"Yes Alpha" they say in unison.
