Vannellapishia’
“The Best Time of a Lifetime”
Chapter 5.
As Vannellapishia continued tiptoeing backwards with sheer fear on her face, Madam Louise in her evil monstrous form, followed her from the side of the building. Madam Louise hissed at Vannellapishia. Struck with terror, Vannellapishia accidentally tripped and bumped into Fancy, who had just walked through the front doors of Madam Louise's Playhouse.
“Hey, watch it tramp!” Fancy shouted in disgust.
“My apologies, Fancy. It was an accident.”
After bantering back and forth for a brief moment with Fancy, Vannellapishia turned her head back to the side of the building, but Madam Louise had disappeared. Fancy noticed the questionable look that was on Vannellapishia's face.
“Uh!... What are you looking for Vinilia?” Fany had intentionally messed up Vannellapishia's name again. “You look like you're seen the devil, himself.”
“It's nothing.”
“Whatever. I'm sure you're not going to make callbacks anyway.”
“Yes, I am!”
“No, you're not. You have pigeon feet that can't dance. You're not built for the royal and elegant role of Amarella.”
“I'm built better than you are!” Vannellapishia replied with a serious and intense tone of voice.
“No you're not! Take it back.”
“I am going to be princess Amarella.”
“No! I am.” Fancy pierced her eyes through Vannellapishia, with anger seeping through her veins. Fancy and Vannellapishia crossed their arms and intensely stared at each other. “I am the better girl for the role. The judges’ eyes lit up with every turn I made.
“Their jaws dropped with every leap I made,” Vannellapishia quickly replied.
“Then break a sweat, lame, and try your hardest at the callbacks. Good luck! You'll need it, tripping girl.” Fancy strutted away, along the sidewalk.
Vannellapishia was upset, and stomped her way to work, “Big Daddy's Hot Fudge Sundae Shack.” She rushed to the restroom to quickly change into her uniform. The diner was crowded and filled with lots of people. Vannellapishia sprinted from order to order, reservation to reservation, and table to table. She broke a sweat, really quick. The soles in her feet started wearing out. While bouncing their heads to the swing music on the jukebox, Big Daddy and a group of chefs jumped through the kitchen's doors with massive bucket sized bowls full of ice cream sundaes topped with mounds of fruits, nuts, and whip cream. Saliva dripped from the mouths of the table customers, as they made eye contact with the sweet smells of the strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla swirl ice cream. They made their way to a huge family celebrating a reunion. They all clapped their hands, danced on the checkered print floor, and sang cheerful jazz songs.
After eight hours had passed, the diner was empty. It was cleanup time. Vannellapishia was ready to go home and practice, in hopes that she would be called to attend the callbacks, a second round of auditions. In a rush, she quickly wiped the tables, restocked the napkin dispensers, swept the floors, mopped, and stacked the chairs.
“It looks like somebody is in a rush!” Big Daddy shouted from the kitchen through the open windows.
“I sure am,” Vannellapisha shouted back. “I have callbacks to prepare for!”
“That's fantastic! I'm proud of you for doing so great on the first audition,” Big Daddy said as he walked towards Vannellapishia while pushing a rolling cart.
“Thanks. I feel like something good is going to happen. I just know it.” Vannellapishia placed her used rags into the buckets on the cart, waved goodbye to Bid Daddy and her other work friends, and jolted out the front doors to head home.
