Chapter 18Revelations by the double The offices of Hawkes and Temple looked just as anyone would imagine a solicitor's office would look. Ross introduced himself and Sam Gable to a smartly-dressed, middle-aged receptionist, whose make-up and elegant two-piece business suit he estimated had knocked about ten years off her true age, who sat behind a functional pine desk, with a computer keyboard directly in front of her and a monitor set to one side of her workstation. One corner of the reception area was taken up by four large filing cabinets, with security bars in addition to the standard locks, obviously the receptacles for the law firm's client and court records. Pictures on two of the walls depicted calming landscapes and seascapes, designed to put clients at their ease, Ross surmised.
