Shape Shifters and Warlocks                     Jayden was seething after Shawn hung up on her and she let out a scream.  Ambrose stood in the doorway and c****d one eye brow and said, “Trouble in paradise dear?”  letting out a chuckle.           She picked up a vase and threw it at the doorway, Ambrose just ducking in time before it hit him in the head.  “Jayden!!”  Ambrose walked toward her and grabbed her by the throat then tossed her into a chair.           “Get yourself together.  What did you think it would be that easy to just have him come back to you if you posed as Courtney?  I didn’t think you were that stupid.”           Jayden looked at him then stood back up, “Shut up Ambrose!!!  I hate you; you are only good for one thing.”  Then stormed out of the room.            Ambrose snickered; she is way to enamored with herself.  She lacks patience.    Jayden POV           I hated Ambrose sometimes, that cocky warlock.   It was really no secret to anyone that Courtney still had feelings for Shawn.  Jayden felt that she could use that to her advantage, so she stalked Courtney and when the time was right, she eliminated her.  Jayden still remembers the night that b***h died by her hand.  Did she really think she stood a chance against her?  Mere mortal?  It was so easy to dispose of her and then assume her appearance and her life.  This allowed Jayden to move among everyone freely without any questions.           Jayden and Ambrose had made themselves very comfortable in the flat that Courtney had owned in London.  When she was going through some of the woman’s things, she found an event pass that was coming up toward the end of May and Courtney received this special invite.            Jayden went out of the bedroom.  “Oh Ambrose…...guess what I found?”  Slinking over to Ambrose with the biggest grin on her face.   “Want to know where we are going on May 31st?”  Then she handed him the invitation.  After studying it he smiled back at her.  “You are wicked, do you know that?”            Jayden smiled seductively and replied, “Yes, I do.  Want to see how wicked I can be?”           “Make it quick, I need to go check on our love birds.”   Ambrose           I transported myself back to my home located not that far from the McNeil’s cottage.  Sitting alongside the road in my car, I surmised that Shawn was not there as the Jaguar he owned was not visible in the driveway.  My index finger drummed on the steering wheel, perhaps it was time to pay Leigh a visit.  An evil snicker crossed his face.           Pulling his Mercedes into the drive, he sauntered up to the front door.  She would need to invite him into the house.  Even after all these years, the magic was still in place.           Knocking on the front door, he was greeted by Leigh with a smile.  He had to be very careful of his facial expressions, as the woman before him could have passed as Isabell’s twin.  She was so very lovely.  He longed to reach out and touch her face.  Ambrose said, “Good day my dear.  I was passing through and wondered if perhaps now might be a good time for a visit?”           Leigh smiled, “Well we are expecting company late this afternoon, but I do have some time.  Please come in.           And just like a Cheshire cat, he was in the house.  He looked around at the small cottage.  He had not been here since the last time he saw Isabelle.  It was the same layout but had been updated quite a bit.  He smiled back and looked over at Leigh, it would be so easy to just take her now, but he would need to be patient.  It was not only about getting her into his life, he also wanted to crush Shawn.            “Would you like some tea or perhaps coffee?”  He smiled, “Coffee, black would be wonderful, thank you.”  She motioned to the kitchen table for Ambrose to take a seat.            “So, have you come to chat about my grandmother Isabelle?  I would love to hear about her and have been looking forward to your visit.”              As Leigh handed him the cup of coffee, his fingers gently caressed her hand.  She suddenly looked a bit flustered.  Hmm……this is interesting.  It seems as though my little flower is attracted to me.            “Well, tell me what you already know about Isabell and I will try to fill in some of blanks if I can.”           Leigh said, “Well, I knew she was from Scotland and came over to the United States around 1728 when she was 26.  She settled in a small coal town in Pennsylvania, and met my grandfather, Henry McKenna and had two children, a boy named William and a girl named Rosa.  I knew that she was a healer of some sorts as some of her gifts have been handed down through the generations, but only to the women of my family.  When I became of age, I was given this ruby ring that is on my finger along with a very old amethyst stone.  My understanding was that these two items belonged to Isabell, but that is where my information stops.  Actually, Shawn was able to find the original home and land that was in Isabell’s family here in Scotland.  Other than that, I really don’t know a lot.”           Ambrose studied Leigh for a minute and realized, she really had no idea who she was.  He decided to be cautious with how much information he told her.  “Well, Isabell was not just a healer Leigh.  She was actually a white witch and a very strong one at that.  The reason I told you that she is an urban legend here, is because people would seek her out for help when they were injured, or sick.  She did not practice black magic or dabble in the arts of the devil so to speak, but she was incredibly strong.  Did you know Isabell was married before?  Her husband’s name was Angus McNeil and he died very young at the age of 22.”           “I had no idea; did they have children together?  What was her maiden name?”           “As far as I know, they had no children.  Her maiden name was McLeod and she married Angus when she was 17 and he was 22 and he died shortly thereafter.”            “Do you know what he died from?”           “The story has it that he got sick and passed away.”            Leigh said, “But that does not make sense, if she was a healer, he would have lived.”           Ambrose said, “True, but the story passed down was that his sickness had to do with black magic and was something that she could not save him from.  When Leigh turned 18, she slowly came into her powers.  The people here loved her and looked at her as a protector.”           Leigh whispered, “Her poor heart, to lose someone so young.”           Ambrose reached across the table and gently caressed her hand in his.  To his surprise she did not pull away.           She said to him, “Why do I feel that you and I know each other, even though we have never met before?”           Cautiously, Ambrose stared into those beautiful green eyes, longing to wrap his arms around her and claim her as his.  “Perhaps our souls have crossed in some former life.”            She smiled, “Perhaps…I guess anything is possible.”           Ambrose looked up at the clock on the wall and realized that Shawn and the others would be back soon.           He said, “Well I will take my leave for now, as I see you will be getting company soon.  Have you ever been shown a picture of Isabell?  I have a portrait of her in my home not far from here.  I can show it to you anytime if you would like.”  He handed her a card with his address and phone number on it.              Leigh’s eyes lit up, “Yes, I would love that.  Thank you so much.”  She walked him to the doorway and he took her hand and kissed the back of it and said, “It is my pleasure, Leigh.  I will see you soon.”             Leigh’s POV                     As I closed the door and watched Ambrose leave, I felt a strange pull towards him and did not know why.  He held himself with confidence and there was a darkness about him that I knew I should be wary of, as if he could literally turn my entire world upside down and not in a good way.  He was extremely attractive, but I also felt he was dangerous.  When he gentle kissed my hand, he never took his eyes off me, almost as if he was claiming me.  I want to see the portrait of my grandmother, but I would definitely not go to his home without Shawn.            I also felt he knew more about Isabell than he was telling me……..
