[Damon]
It’s been a couple of days since Rosa woke up and Robin informed me that my mate would soon be able to leave the hospital wing. Robin found out that when I was close to her, especially touching, her healing would come back and Rosa would get better faster. I guess the legends were true on how the Silver Wolf would need their mate as much as their mate needed them. Rosa still hasn’t been able to tell the Betas and Deltas. I know she wanted to awhile ago, but things got pretty hectic and the topic never came up. I wanted her to focus on healing and getting better.
In the meantime, I have some trackers looking into more information on the Silver Wolf. I didn’t tell them why and they don’t need to know why. My pack trusts me and they never go against my orders.
Currently, I was working on some paperwork. It kind of piled up and Nigel has been at me to get it done. I was too worried about Rosa that I just couldn’t focus on other things. I was barely sleeping. He understood, but now that Rosa was awake and getting better, I need to get the paperwork finished. Plus I was finally sleeping as well.
I looked out the window and noticed it was starting to snow. I was getting pretty chilly out and since the palace is up in the mountains for protection, we tend to get a lot of snow. It was only the middle of autumn, but we already had snow. Great, this means more paperwork. We had to make sure the roads and sidewalks were paved and taken care of. Humans can use that salt stuff for ice, but for us werewolves, it tends to hurt out paws and even our bare-feet. Having sensitive senses is one of the perks and downfalls of being a werewolf. I could feel my wolf cringing at the though of salt and I slightly laughed.
Well, let’s get this paperwork filled out and go check up on Rosa. Tonight was a full moon and for some reason, my wolf had a weird sense or something. He could feel something was off, but he didn’t know what. I shrugged it off and continued working.
[Robin]
Finally the Luna was getting better and I could see the color return to her face. She did better around the Alpha and it surprised me. I know mates can help when each other are down or when they are angry, I just never knew it could help so much.
I was checking up on the Elders and the new omegas from Rosa’s old pack and things seemed to be getting better. The pups were slightly malnourished, but after living with the Elders for a couple days, they seemed to be much healthier. They were some really great pups and I could see how much they cared for their Luna. They always asked about her and asked when they could see her. I had to keep telling them that she was still recovering, but soon they would be able to see each other again.
It was nighttime and a full moon, so I decided to go and check up on the Luna. It started to snow as I was walking through the palace. The Elders and pups live in the smaller palace. It is still part of the main palace but you have to go through the garden. It is also connected to the military grounds where the recruits are training plus where they live. The palace was quite huge and could house many people. It was the main place for royal events, meetings of the Alphas, the main military grounds, and more. The city outside was quite huge as well. We were in the mountains, but out city was pretty high tech. It was just the outside that was still old. Alpha Damon wanted to make werewolves apart of the modern world and with the company Royal INC. it did just that. We are the leaders in millions of hotels, restaurants, resorts, shopping malls, and casinos around the world. Plus technology, medicine, and the entertainment world. Many of our pack members were leaders in technology. Vampires and witches were better with entertainment and medicine, but werewolves topped in technology. Many of the modern tech companies were created by werewolves.
I made it back to the infirmary and when I got to the Luna’s door, the guards saluted me. I nodded to them. I was about to knock on the door, but I heard a crash come from the Luna’s room. The guards were on alert and were about to go into the room, I stopped them, “Wait, the Luna doesn’t know you yet. Alpha has specifically told you to guard the outside, but only Betas or Deltas are allowed in.”
The guards immediately stopped, and I knocked slightly on the door, “Luna? Is everything ok? It is Robin, I am going to come in.”
[Rosa]
I woke up to an empty room. The sun was just setting and I could feel the moon rising. Most werewolves could sense the moon, but only Alphas and some Betas could actually know when the moon was rising. I tried to get up and luckily it didn’t hurt as much. My ribs still ached and breathing was still a little bit of trouble, but I was no longer hooked up to oxygen or IVs.
Tonight was a full moon and I could feel my wolf wanting to come out. This was the one night I could not resist her urge. She was weakened as well and the moon could help heal her, but I was afraid to shift. What if someone came in and soon everyone would know what I am. I stopped her and the pain was agonizing. She was trying to push and push to take control, but I had to stop her. I tried to get up to at least close the curtains and maybe it would stop my wolf, but I only crashed into the side table and the items came down. Now, I was on the ground. I tried to get up but it was useless.
I could hear a knocking at the door, I was on high alert until I heard a familiar voice, “Luna? Is everything ok? It is Robin, I am going to come in.”
I sighed with relief and I answered weakly, “Robin, please… please come in.”
My voice was strained but I heard the door open and the Delta came in. She rushed in and came to my side, “Luna, is everything alright? What is going on? Did you fall from the bed?” She tried to move me, but my wolf growled and she stopped. Her eyes were wide with shock.
I wanted her to help, but the only person my wolf wanted was Damon. I was an Alpha after all. I guess it was time to tell the Betas and Deltas about who I am. I spoke through pain, “Please… get Damon… I don’t.. I don’t know how much.. longer I can.. hold my wolf off…” She nodded and I added, “Get Nigel, Irina, and Victor… as well.”
“Yes, Luna,” she responded and soon was mind-linking the members.
The pain returned and I couldn’t focus on the world around me. The only thing I could focus on was not letting my wolf out. Not yet.
What felt like forever, but was only a couple minutes, I felt a new presence around me. The hand touched mine and I knew it was my mate. With his touch, I could focus on the people around me. Damon started speaking to me, “Rosa, what is it? Is it your ribs? Robin said you fell.”
I looked at him, “No, it’s.. not… It’s my.. my wolf. The full moon… I need… I need to shi..shift.”
Even though my breath was not coming out evenly, my mate clearly understood me. Over the couple days, we have been talking to each other and trying to learn more about one another. He also had pack members looking into more information on the silver wolf. Well, information on me.
Damon spoke to the others, “Rosa is going to shift into her wolf. Her wolf hasn’t been out in a long time, and since today is a full moon it is affecting her too much. Years ago, werewolves were affected by the full moon and it would cause our wolves to go crazy and shift immediately. If you didn’t give control to the wolf, there would be immense pain for you and your wolf. Rosa is still affected by this. When she shifts, you will see the reason behind it.” My mate spoke to me this time, “Rosa, my sweet, you can shift now. No one but the five of us will be here. You are safe. I am going o move you closer to the windows and away from the bed. Okay?”
I nodded to him and he soon picked me up. It was nice to be in his arms. Damon was pretty muscular and about 6’11”. He was the tallest male and the largest wolf. Compared to me, who was below average for a wolf at 5’1” but my wolf was a different story.
Once he placed me on the ground and took a step back, I let my wolf take control. Taria, my wolf, came out and I could feel my body shift into the great silver wolf. With the moon shining on us, our coat started to shine. I could hear the gasps from the others. Even Damon was gasping. I had told him who I was, but it was the first time for him to see me in this form.
My wolf felt weak, but somehow different. I tried to stand up and I noticed I was much taller and bigger than the last time I shifted. I guess finding my mate brought out my Alpha genes. I was now the size of an Alpha female. However, still being weak, I fell back down. I could see the others trying to come close to me, but I growled at them. I don’t know why, but Taria didn’t want anyone but our mate touching us in wolf form. The others backed away and Damon moved closer, I stopped growling and moved into his touch.
Victor, the more quiet Delta, spoke out, “Is she… Is she the silver wolf? Like in the legends?”
Damon responded, “Yes, she is. This can only be known by the five of us. No-one can know about her. She must be protected. Not just as the Luna but as the silver wolf. Rosa trusts you, but her wolf is very possessive. She is an Alpha after all. A full moon can heal her wolf form, but will not heal her human form. Her powers are as the legends say but that does not mean we can misuse them. It’s why her healing wasn’t working as fast before. The Shadow Fang pack misused her abilities and it caused her wolf to weaken.”
My wolf and I slightly whined at hearing the name of our old pack. My mate put his hand on my head and the touch helped sooth my wolf and myself. My wolf slightly called out to him and I knew she wanted his wolf to come out as well. His human hand was helping soon the pain, but his wolf would help even more. I looked deeply into his eyes and I think he understood.
Damon spoke to the others, “I am going to shift to be with her and I need you four to stay here and guard the inside as well as the outside. No-one will enter this room. Not until the full moon has set and Rosa is no longer in wolf form.” His tone was strict and I could sense that he was using his Alpha tone.
The four responded quickly, “Yes, Alpha.”
Soon enough, my mate shifted and I could finally see how large and beautiful he was. It was interesting. I had dark black hair and icy blue eyes as a human but my wolf was silver with white eyes. Kind of like fresh fallen snow or like the moon. While Damon had sandy blond hair and mesmerizing auburn eyes. He was like a summer day. His wolf, however, was a large, midnight black wolf. Almost the complete opposite to me. We are like yin and yang.
Damon moved toward me and spoke to me through our mate-link, “How are you feeling? Did shifting help with the pain?”
“It has helped a little bit and thank you for shifting. I wish I could mind-link with everyone but without mating and you marking me, I can’t link with everyone.” I shyly responded.
He laughed a little and it was almost like he was blushing, “Yeah… You don’t know how much I want to mark you and make you mine, but you are still weak. I don’t want to put you through it yet.” He looked away but then continued, “Is it alright if I move closer to you? The others are going to guard while you rest. I’m going to as well. I just want you to heal and be safe around us. Whenever you want to shift, just let us know and we will protect you.”
I smiled internally at his shyness. Damon was always a strong person and as I got to know him more, I could see the small quirks that he had. He was a perfectionist and care deeply about the things that mean the most to him. It made me love him even more. I responded, “Of course. Once again, thank you for shifting. It means a lot to me.”
He moved towards me and placed himself behind my body. His wolf was quite big, but I fit perfectly. We truly were meant for each other. Slowly, the pain was disappearing and I felt calm surrounded by my mate. I leaned in closer to him and my eyes slowly closed. I fell into a peaceful sleep.
[Damon]
I could hear my mates breathing slow down and I could tell that she was asleep. My wolf and I wanted to fall asleep as well, but I had to protect her. She was mine and mine to protect. Rhys, my wolf, agreed and even though he was fighting heavy eyes, he stayed awake.
I was so focused on my mate, that I didn’t hear Nigel trying to speak to me. He mind-linked me, “Alpha, is everything alright? I tried to speak to you.”
I shook my head and I looked at him, “Sorry, just a little bit tired, but I’m ok. What is it?”
Nigel laughed out loud and respond out loud as well, “I was going to say that we can stay awake while you sleep as well. Irina, Victor, Robin, and I can keep the Luna safe and well. I think the Luna would want you to sleep as well.”
I slightly growled at him and mind-linked all four of them, “I can stay awake and protect my mate fine.”
Irina responded calmly, “We understand that Alpha, but don’t you want to be at your best when the Luna wakes up?”
I contemplated the idea soon my wolf was slightly agreeing with Irina and Nigel. I had to admit, the Betas were right. I mind-linked them, “Sorry, I guess I am a bit tired. I trust you to watch us. Thank you.”
The four of them looked shocked and then laughed. I slightly laughed as well. This was the first time in awhile that I actually agreed with. Usually it took a couple hours and couple broken chairs before I agreed with them. I looked at my mate and silently thanked her. She was changing me for the better. I felt calm around her and my soul finally felt like one piece. She completely me.
Slowly, I fell asleep knowing that my mate was safe and healing well.
[Mitch] — [Time Skip with hints to next chapter] —
I fell to the ground as one of the Military recruits, Jackson, pushed me to the ground. The other, Tomas, laughed and kicked me as well. Jackson sneered at me, “You don’t belong here mutt. You are just a stupid orphan that no one cares for. You and your group don’t belong here. You aren’t strong for Royal Pack. Admit it!”
Living with the Elders in the palace was amazing, but there were specifically two military Omegas who believed that we didn’t belong. They looked down on me and the others. Especially since I was given the opportunity to join the Trackers since I passed their tests. The other recruits thought I got a free ride without doing anything. They didn’t know that I took the trials just like they did. I just was able to complete it faster than them. It was a direct order from the Alpha King for me to join the Trackers as a Level 3 and that’s why they thought I was a freeloader. Most recruits my age, were only Level 1.
The Alpha King, the Betas, the Deltas, and even the Elders didn’t know that the bulling and tormenting was going on. I wanted to let them know, especially the Queen Luna. I knew that she would trust me, but Delta Robin said I couldn’t see her at the moment. She was still weak. I understood. At the moment, only the Elders and the fifteen of us orphans knew that the King Alpha had found his mate. I just hoped I could see her soon.
Whenever I tried to tell the Elders or the Military leaders about the two boys, Jackson and Tomas would find out and tell me if I snitched to anyone that they would find my five-year-old sister, beat her and rape her. They didn’t care that she was so young. It hurt me and I knew I had to protect her with my life.
I surprised that those two recruits were even allowed in Royal Pack. They acted like Shadow Fangs rather than the noble and true Royal Pack. I had to do something about them, but I never could have the chance.
I could see Jackson’s hand about to come down but it was stopped by a petite pale hand. I looked up to a figure in white and blue. She had long black hair and striking icy blue eyes. It took me a moment to realize who it was. I gasped, “Queen Luna!”
