I kept quiet and watched her. If she’s insinuating—
“Why did you choose her, Gavin? That was my friend, for crying out loud!”
“You know I don’t make the choice!”
“Then why didn’t you refuse?! What does it matter if my feelings have changed towards you? You still belong to her. You’re not mine and you will never be.”
She attempted to leave, but I backed her against the table and held her hands in mine. She flinched but didn’t pull away. Please, tell me you have feelings for me and all of this will go away. Take me out of this misery, Judy.
“But you’re lying, aren’t you? You don’t want me to be with her.”
“I-I didn’t say that.”
