“Several missed calls! Why didn’t you pick up?!”
“I’ve been busy.”
“Busy? Seriously?” Mom turned to me with a stern look on her face. “I called your secretary, and she lied to me, too. Do I look stupid to you, Gavin?”
“No. But you just need to calm down.”
“Calm down? Jessica’s parents are blowing up my phone, asking if what the tabloids are saying is true.”
“Wait, you talked to them? I thought I was going to do that.”
“Well, you were slacking at that point, so I had to do what was right.”
“No, you got into my business when I told you not to.”
“It still doesn’t mean anything. Tell me the truth. What is really going on between you and that Gonzalo girl?”
“She has a name, and I won’t appreciate you talking about her that way.”
