New friends

I leave the diner to go and collect Hunter and river from school it’s only a 10 minute walk from the diner and our home and I love looking in all the shop windows and thinking when I get my next wage packet I want to come and get somethings for the apartment to make it feel more like mine. As I get to the school gates phoenix comes running over to me and asks if he can go over to his friend Brady’s house as they have a games room, entertainment room to watch movies and a gym where they do martial arts training. I said I don’t know maybe if he can get Brady’s mum or dad to come and tell me it’s ok for him to go over there I might let him and also how is he gonna get there and get home? He goes over to his group of friends and speaks to a boy I assume is Brady and if he’s the same age as phoenix I don’t know what his parents feed him as he was a good few inches taller than phoenix and built like a small man, while I wait for phoenix to come back over Hunter and river come out and today Hunter has a smile on his face, “good day buddy” I say “ mum please can I go over to my friend Raph’s house? He said they have a games room, entertainment room and a gym where they do martial arts training” all I could think was do all these parents have huge mansions with hundreds of rooms or are Brady and Raph related? “We’ll phoenix just asked me the same thing about his friend Brady do u know if it is the same house or different houses?” “I don’t know let me ask raph quick” he says and runs over to his friend that is standing with the most beautiful woman I have ever seen in my life with her black hair,green eyes and the body any woman would die for. She comes over and introduces herself, “hey I’m missy” she says and puts out her hand for me to shake “hi I’m Sofia, lovely to meet you” “raph has asked if Hunter can come over and play, he said that Brady also asked your other son.” “Yeah I wasn’t sure if it was the same house or not” I say with a little chuckle, she lets out a little laugh and says “yeah it’s the same house Brady is raphs cousin but we kinda all live in the same house strange I know but it works for us” oh ok is all I say and tell her as long as it’s ok with her and everyone else it’s fine with me but I don’t finish work till 7 so does she want me to pick them up or is there someone who can drop them home earlier if it’s a problem for them to stay that late? She says “it’s no problem but someone can drop them home at 7 so I don’t have to worry about trying to find the place” I say my thank yous tell the boys to behave themselves and I will see them when they get home. This place really is full of such lovely people and it makes me feel so much better knowing Hunter has made a friend and is feeling a bit happier about living here. Me and river walk back to the diner she sits in a booth and gets her book out of her school bag and starts to read. Annie comes over and asks where the boys are I tell her there at their friends house and she smiles and says “ahh that’s great, I’m so happy they’ve made friends so quickly and it’s gotta make you feel better that Hunter is settling in now” I tell her it does, Annie has helped me so much since the first day we arrived here and I owe the easy transition to this new life to her and her compassion and willingness to help a complete stranger. I’ve noticed lately that pretty much everyone in this town is extremely good looking even Annie, she is 45 but doesn’t look a day over 30 with her red hair, icy blue eyes and all the years working in the diner are obviously not doing her figure any harm as she has a better body than me and I’m nearly half her age. Doug is 50 he has salt and pepper hair and brown eyes and has a muscular build for a man his age he’s in good shape and looks well below his age. I feel like an ugly duckling but Doug, Annie and all the regulars always tell me how beautiful I am yet I feel like their just being nice or maybe it’s all the years of being told your ugly by the person who was supposed to love you getting into your head and making you look at yourself differently and believing their words. After the dinner rush Annie said if it stays quite I could go home early and have some alone time with river before the boys get home. Just as she said those words the bell rang above the door to signal someone coming in, I looked at Annie and said “you had to say it didn’t you” with a chuckle “sorry hunny” she said with a little chuckle, I went out front to greet whoever just came through the door as I was approaching the table I could see it was full of big or should I say huge men, all better looking than the next as I approached I greeted them all with a smile, introduced myself and asked them all what they would like to order. one of them in particular caught my eye and when I say he was an Adonis wow no words could describe how gorgeous this man in front of me was and when I looked into his beautiful green eyes I could feel everything around me disappear like it was just me and him in the diner I felt this pull towards him and the electricity in the air around us was like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. One of the guys at the table said something but I couldn’t hear him and the strange thing was this Greek god in front of me was staring right back or was that just my imagination, I’ve got to pull myself together I don’t want another relationship it will only end badly they always do. Another guy at the table said the name Reid and the Adonis blinked and looked at him and the connection was broken. The guy that called him had a huge grin on his face and said “I thought we were gonna have to get you too some help you were falling so hard” the Adonis who I now know is called Reid glared at him and then looked at the menu. I took their order and practically ran back to the kitchen, what the hell was that?.
