She was rejected, broken, left for dead. Now she's back—and he's about to learn what happens when you awaken a sleeping wolf.

Celeste Ardyn's eighteenth birthday should have been the happiest day of her life. Instead, Alpha Killian Voss—the mate the Moon Goddess herself had chosen for her—rejected her before the entire Silver Moon Pack, selecting another. The severing of their bond shattered more than her heart; it broke her soul.

Fleeing to the Cliffs of Mourning, ready to embrace the darkness forever, Celeste encounters something far more dangerous than death: Ronan Wolfe, the exiled Cursed Alpha with blood on his hands and vengeance in his heart.

"If you want to die," he growls, dragging her back from the edge, "at least die with purpose."

In the Forbidden Lands, Celeste sheds her name and her tears. Under Ronan's brutal training, she becomes Luna Noctis—a warrior wreathed in shadows, magic coursing through her veins like liquid moonlight. The gentle girl who begged for love dies, replaced by something far more dangerous.

Two years later, she returns.

Killian's wolf recognizes her scent instantly, but his body recoils in primal terror. This isn't the broken girl who fled into the night. Luna Noctis moves like smoke, commands the darkness itself, and her violet eyes promise only one thing: reckoning.

But vengeance is a double-edged blade. As Celeste unleashes her newfound power, she discovers that the rejection that nearly destroyed her was just the beginning. Ancient prophecies speak of a shadow luna who will either save the pack bonds forever or shatter them beyond repair.

And as the blood moon rises, Celeste must choose: become the monster her pain created, or rise above the ashes of her former self to claim a destiny even the Moon Goddess couldn't foresee.

Killian rejected her once, believing her weak.

Now he'll learn that some wolves are meant to rule from the shadows.

And some vengeance is worth waiting for.

CHAPTER ONE: The Golden Cage
"Stop fidgeting, Celeste. You'll wrinkle the dress." Maya's voice cut through my nervous energy as she smoothed down the flowing white fabric of my ceremonial gown. The mirror reflected a girl I barely recognized—hair braided with silver threads, eyes bright with hope, cheeks flushed with excitement. Tonight, everything would change. "I can't help it." I spun around, the dress flaring out like flower petals. "Maya, can you believe it? In three hours, I'll be Luna of the Silver Moon Pack." Maya smiled, but something flickered in her brown eyes. "You've been dreaming of this since we were kids." "Remember when we used to play Alpha and Luna in the woods?" I laughed, memories flooding back. "You always made me be the Alpha because you said I was too bossy to be a proper Luna." "And look at you now." Maya's voice was soft. "About to mate with the most powerful Alpha in three territories." I touched the silver pendant at my throat—a gift from my mother before she died. "Sometimes I wonder if he'll accept me. I mean, what if the moon goddess made a mistake?" "Celeste." Maya grabbed my hands. "You've been his destined mate since birth. The pack seer confirmed it when you turned sixteen. Killian has been waiting for you to come of age." "But he's never even spoken to me. Not really. Just polite nods at pack gatherings." "He's an Alpha. They're not exactly known for small talk." Maya squeezed my fingers. "Besides, you've been too shy to approach him yourself." Heat crept up my neck. She was right. Every time Killian entered a room, I either hid behind someone or found urgent business elsewhere. The man was gorgeous—all golden hair and amber eyes, broad shoulders that spoke of power and strength. And in a few hours, he'd be mine. "What if I'm not strong enough?" The words tumbled out before I could stop them. "Everyone expects the Luna to be fierce and commanding. I can barely speak up in pack meetings." Maya's expression softened. "You're stronger than you think. Remember when those rogues attacked the eastern border last year? You ran straight into danger to heal the wounded warriors. That's not weakness, Celeste." "That's different. Healing comes naturally to me." "Exactly. Your gift is rare, precious. Any Alpha would be lucky to have you." A knock interrupted us. "Miss Celeste? Alpha Killian requests your presence at the ceremonial grounds." My heart hammered against my ribs. "It's time." Maya hugged me tight. "Go claim your destiny." The walk to the ceremonial grounds felt like a dream. Pack members lined the path, their faces lit by torch flames. Children threw flower petals at my feet. The elders nodded approvingly as I passed. I caught sight of familiar faces in the crowd—the blacksmith who'd taught me to forge healing implements, the nursemaid who'd raised me after my mother's death, warriors I'd tended after battles. They all smiled with such pride, such expectation. My father waited at the edge of the grounds, his weathered face beaming. As the pack's head healer, he'd always been respected, but having his daughter chosen as Luna elevated our entire bloodline. He squeezed my hand as I passed. "I'm so proud of you, little star," he whispered, using my childhood nickname. The ceremonial circle came into view, stones arranged in perfect symmetry under the full moon's glow. And there, in the center, stood Killian. My breath caught. He wore traditional Alpha regalia—black leather pants, chest bare except for the silver torque around his neck that marked his rank. His golden hair caught the moonlight, and those amber eyes that had haunted my dreams for years now focused on something beyond me, distant and cold. They were looking right through me. I approached the circle's edge, where tradition demanded I wait for his invitation. The pack gathered around us, forming concentric circles of witnesses. Elder Thorne stepped forward, his ancient voice carrying across the night air thick with anticipation. "Under the light of the full moon, we gather to witness the joining of destined mates. Alpha Killian Voss of the Silver Moon Pack, do you accept Celeste Ardyn as your Luna, your equal, your mate?" This was it. The moment I'd dreamed of my entire life. The moment that would transform me from healer's daughter to pack royalty, from shy girl to powerful Luna. Killian's eyes met mine across the circle. For a heartbeat, something flickered there—surprise? Fear? Regret? But then his expression hardened into cold stone, as if he were looking at a stranger rather than his destined mate. "No." The word hit me like a physical blow. Gasps rippled through the crowd like a stone thrown into still water. "I reject Celeste Ardyn as my mate and Luna." The world tilted sideways. This wasn't possible. The moon goddess didn't make mistakes. The pack seer had confirmed our bond years ago. I'd felt the pull, the inexplicable draw toward him that had only grown stronger as I came of age. "Killian, I—" I stepped forward, but he held up a hand, stopping me as effectively as a wall. "I choose Seraphina Vale as my Luna." His voice rang out clear and final across the stunned silence. "She is strong, worthy, everything a Luna should be." A tall blonde stepped out of the crowd, her ice-blue eyes gleaming with triumph. Seraphina Vale—daughter of the Beta family, politically connected, trained in combat since childhood, everything I wasn't. She moved with predatory grace, her smile sharp as a blade as she approached the circle. The mate bond that had been dormant until tonight suddenly snapped to life with the Alpha's formal acknowledgment, only to be severed in the same instant by his rejection. Pain exploded through my chest, white-hot and devastating, driving me to my knees on the sacred ground. It felt like someone had reached into my ribcage and torn out my still-beating heart. "Please," I gasped, clutching at my chest as the bond's destruction sent waves of agony through every nerve. "The moon goddess chose me. The bond—" "The bond was a mistake." Killian's voice was ice, each word a dagger. "I need a Luna who can stand beside me in battle, not cower behind healers' robes. I need strength, not weakness." The pain was unbearable, but the humiliation cut deeper. Every person I'd grown up with was watching me fall apart in front of them. My father's face had gone ashen. Maya's hands were pressed to her mouth in horror. Tears streamed down my cheeks as I struggled to breathe through the severed bond's agony. "Alpha Killian," Elder Thorne's voice cracked with shock and disapproval. "To reject a destined mate is unprecedented. The consequences—" "Are within my rights as Alpha." Killian cut him off with brutal finality. "I've made my choice." I looked up at him through my tears, this man I'd built my entire future around, and saw nothing but cold dismissal. His amber eyes held no warmth, no regret, no recognition of the girl who'd loved him from afar her whole life. Seraphina stepped into the circle, claiming the space that should have been mine. "I accept," she declared, her voice ringing with victory. "Take her away," Killian commanded the guards, gesturing toward me like I was debris to be cleared. But I was already running.
