Chapter 20: His past

Austin's POV~
I am really happy that we are making progress in our relationship. Today Ethan and his girlfriend will come to our house. I am happy that Anu considers Ethan as her brother. She really takes care of him. She made me feel like we have a family now. I smiled.
Ethan and his girlfriend came. Everything which we builded has destroyed. I really didn't want Anu to know about us like this, but what should I do?
"How do I make her understand that I didn't want to lie to her or hide anything from her? I just wanted to take some time, but everything was destroyed, " I thought to myself.
I sat near the swimming pool with my legs in it. I stare at the moon. I felt someone's hand on my shoulder.
I didn't even need to turn around, I know it's Ethan.
Ethan sat beside me with his legs in the pool. He handed me whiskey. I took it.We just sat silently.
"I am sorry, man. It's all because of me, " Ethan said.
"No, brother. Don't worry, " he said.
"I will try to explain, Anu. I am sure she will understand me, " I said while assuring him.
"How about I say everything to her?," he asked.
"No need. I don't want you to dwell anything from the past. It's over. It won't again come in our lives, " I said angrily.
"But she.." Ethan trailed.
I caught his hand and assured him. Ethan sighed.
"Ethan, I don't want you to suffer because of me," I said.
"Austin.. You know it's not like that," Ethan said.
"You have done enough for me. Just don't. Now, I want you to think of yourself first, " I said. Ethan sighed.
"Please, for me. I want you to be happy. I can handle myself. There is no need for you to be worried for me," I said.
"Austin.."Ethan said.
"Yes, Ethan. I think you are too invested in the past. Yes, I agree that mom and dad are..killed....when I was small, but please, Ethan understands me. I don't want you to waste your time on me," I said.
"Austin.. I am your big brother. I never once think.."Ethan started speaking, but I cut him off by saying.
"Stop it. I know you never think of me as a burden. Just please live your life, " I said.
I stood up and went towards the sofa. Ethan walked with me.
"You have done enough for me. You took care of me when I was small. You already done enough. Now I am more than enough to take my decisions, "I said.
"Austin, it's just.." Ethan tried to speak, but I cut him off by saying.
"I know Ethan. I know. You suffered a lot. I saw our parents..getting murdered", I said with a broken voice. Ethan immediately hugged me.
"Please, Ethan. I think I am the one who is holding you back, "I said while tears left by eyes.
"No, Austin.. It's never like that," Ethan said. His eyes are red as he tries to control his tears.
"Don't think like that. I will definitely try to do what you said, "Ethan said.
I broke the hug.
"Promise me," I asked him while giving him my hand.
"Promise," he said while holding his hand.
"Also, don't blame that girl. She is just scared. You got your love after so many years. I don't want to be the reason for your sadness, " I said.
"Okay," he said.
"I will take Sooyoung tomorrow to my mansion," Ethan said.
"It's okay. Let her spend some time with Anu. I will explain to her some things, "I said.
"No need. I will handle her my way, "Ethan said.
"Don't you dare hurt my sister-in-law," I said.
"Huh? Sister-in-law?" Ethan said with a surprise.
"Yes. She is my sister-in -law," I said. Ethan sighed.
Suddenly, we heard a noise. We both got alerted and looked around. We didn't see anything. We just hugged and went downstairs.
I saw Anu at the dining table. Ethan and I both went towards the dining table.
"Anu," Ethan called her. She is just doing her work and not replying to us.
"The food is ready. You can have dinner, "Anu said coldly.
"Anu, listen to me," I said.
"I will give this dinner to Sooyoung," she said and went off.
Ethan and I sighed. We both had our dinner in silence.
"Okay, Austin. I will leave now. I will come tomorrow, " Ethan said.
"Ethan, it's already late," I said.
"It's okay. I will manage, "Ethan said.
When Ethan was about to go, the maid closed the door.
"What do you think you are doing?"Ethan said, glaring at the maid. The maid started trembling.
"You can leave," they heard Anu's voice from behind. The maid just ran off.
"No one is allowed to go outside," Anu said coldly.
"It's better if some people just change and go to sleep now," Anu said.
Ethan and I just stood still with shock.
"Am I not clear yet?"Anu raised her voice a little.
We both flinched and went upstairs.
"What is happening now?"I asked Ethan.
"How would I know?"Ethan asked.
"I never saw Anu like that. Being this cold. I was startled, "I said.
"Same, bro," Ethan said.
"Why are you guys still standing here?"we both heard Anu's voice.
"N.. Nothing. Ethan stopped me, "I said and went inside our room. I heard Ethan cursing at me, but my survival is important. Sorry, bro!
I saw Anu entering our room. I saw Ayu is sleeping. I saw pillows beside him.
I just stood on the balcony. I sighed. Ethan already has done so much. He has so much on his shoulders.
I don't want to burden him. He finally got the girl whom he had been searching for many years. I don't want to drag him down.
I don't know how to explain all this to Anu. I know I did wrong by hiding, but I didn't get any chance to tell her.
I was craving for her presence. Everything went out of my mind. How I should solve this?
Am I really a burden to everyone? How can I be weak like this? I have to be strong. I have to be for Anu and Ayu.
I have to talk to Sooyoung tomorrow. I will explain everything to her.
If she gets to know how Ethan is, she will never leave him. I'm sure.
